1 Air Bag problem of the 2021 Audi A5

Failure Date: 12/21/2025

The passenger side air bag indicator constantly turns off and on in my Audi no matter if there is or is not a passenger in the seat. I took my vehicle to an authorized Audi service center to have the issue checked and they determined the issue to be a failed pods mat based on the error code returned. Upon researching, I’ve discovered that this issue was a safety recall issue with Audi A5 sportback vehicles in 2020. My vehicle was manufactured during the time of this particular recall and the issue appears to be indicative of this recall. The recall was safety recall code: 74e3.

4 Air Bag problem of the 2023 Audi A5

Failure Date: 12/15/2023

I have had multiple issues with this vehicle. After having it for a few months while on a road trip the car begin high pitched beeping and several warning lights displayed with messages stating Audi pre sense malfunction: contact customer service/ aes/aeb unavailable. Safety system: malfunction: see owners manual. Drive system malfunction. Three warning lamps illuminated as well. I wasn’t sure what was happening and pulled over at the next exit, called my husband. After turning off the vehicle the lights remained illuminated and the warning lamps didn’t change, it also continued to beep but I had not choice but to continue on as we were far from home but it left me rattled and nervous of the safety of the vehicle. After the dealership advised us there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and they weren’t sure why the lights and malfunctions displayed. They turned off the lights and the car was fine for another few weeks until it suddenly slammed on the breaks while driving down the road for no reason at all, all the lights and malfunctions begin again as well as the beeping. Luckily there wasn’t a car behind us but we were quite afraid of this breaking issue happening leading to a car accident or worse. We took the car to the dealership again where they told us there “needed to be an update to the software” but it wouldn’t be out until sometime “hopefully” next year but couldn’t guarantee a date and informed us we just needed to bring the car in if it happened again. We questioned the safety and asked for a loaner vehicle due to our fear but were assured the car is safe however I’ve lost count of the number of times the lights have come back on and the car breaks unexpectedly. We’ve returned to the dealership each time and told the vehicle is ok but the warning lights and safety alerts are on again as of today however it no longer beeps.

5 Air Bag problem of the 2011 Audi A5

Failure Date: 07/01/2022

Earlier models were recalled for defective air bag modules. My 2011 A5 was not recalled but the air bag module failed in exactly the same way as earlier models. The modules were not upgraded and perhaps the newer models should be included in recall. I have an invoice for $1443. 45 from the dealer. Thanks.

10 Air Bag problem of the 2010 Audi A5

Failure Date: 04/11/2018

Takata recall: I received the urgent recall notice in the mail and first phoned to make an appointment for hte repair. I was told that they needed to call me back to schedule due to lack of available parts but more than a week went by and I did not receive a call. I went in person and was told that they do not have parts, I cannot order the parts or schedule the urgent repair and that I should call back every couple weeks to see if anything came in to match my model. I was told that there is no way to place an order or for them to track the incoming parts to notify me that my repair can be made. This is poor service when my recall notice says that this is an urgent safety recall and should be scheduled immediately. It seems that nothing is being done to account for the scheduling of these repairs, the inability to order the specific parts for each model when the repair is requested is incompetent, and the inability of the dealers to be able to contact the vehicle owners to inform of the incoming receipt of parts and schedule the repairs is also an incompetent method to issue an urgent safety recall. Recall notice received is available upon request.

12 Air Bag problem of the 2012 Audi A5

Failure Date: 04/09/2018

My vehicle is impacted by the takata airbag safety issue. I recently received a follow up letter from Audi indicating that I should "schedule this recall repair immediately, even if an interim repair was recently done. " upon calling the local Audi dealers they all indicate that the manufacturer (Audi) has not yet shipped the necessary parts to effect the repair, and they have been waiting for the parts since early to mid March 2018. If Audi is not ready to repair the vehicles then the communication to the vehicle owners should indicate this clearly. It now feels like Audi is covering themselves by stating they are ready to make a repair which they are clearly not yet ready for.

26 Air Bag problem of the 2010 Audi A5

Failure Date: 02/16/2017

Takata recall: received recall notice April 2016. Waitied 7 months. Contacted Audi dealer, Audi USA oct 2016 say part is still unavailable and NHTSA is allocating parts. Filed complaint with NHTSA oct 2016. Nothing. No one called or contacted me. Audi dealer customer care contacts me Feb 2017 to purchase a new car as a 'solution' for airbag recall. Tells me I can die or get seriously injured anytime. Better to get a new car they say. Wait. If parts are available for new cars. Why not fix mine? why should I buy a new car? confirmed according to Audi dealer and Audi USA 2017 models have non faulty parts and airbags! emails to Audi USA why parts are being allocated to new cars instead of repairing affected cars?? they have no answers. Just keep deferring to NHTSA. Called NHTSA for answers. Nhtsa states it's the manufacturer's responsibility not theirs. They just collect complaints. Is anyone reading these? 13 million cars have been repaired but which one are these? I'm in zone a CA at least 2 deaths occurred here as a result of the takata airbags. It is hot humid area I am concerned driving my car and this is unacceptable. Again is anyone reading these? post clear information about schedules for each zones and which manufacturers will be getting parts so that we can better understand when our dangerous life threatening recall will be repaired. If Audi is responsible for allocating parts tell them to stop telling us that they have no idea and aren't responsible for parts availability. Make them use the new parts to fix our cars not manufacture new ones and sell it to us as a scare tactic!.
