I am writing to formally report a serious and ongoing issue with my 2022 Audi A5 involving multiple component failures. Most recently, both front windows suddenly stopped functioning and would not roll up, leaving my vehicle fully exposed. As a result, my car was subjected to rain, causing water intrusion and damage to the interior of the vehicle. This issue is especially concerning given my prior history with this vehicle. Since purchasing the car, the sunroof has already required repair twice within the past two years. Now, I am experiencing a complete failure of both front windows. This pattern of repeated issues raises serious concerns about the overall reliability and quality of the vehicle. I rely on my vehicle daily to transport my children and manage my responsibilities. Due to this failure, my vehicle is currently not secure or usable in normal conditions, which has placed me in a very difficult position. Additionally, I have been informed by an Audi technician that this is a known issue with Audi A5 models. Given that this defect has been acknowledged, it is extremely concerning that no preventative solution or recall has been implemented to protect consumers from this exact situation. This failure is unacceptable in a vehicle at this price point and presents a risk for further damage, including potential electrical issues due to water exposure. I am requesting that Audi of America take full responsibility for this matter and provide coverage for: repair of the window system any resulting interior or electrical damage caused by water intrusion a thorough inspection of the vehicle to ensure no additional damage has occurred I would also like this issue formally documented as part of any ongoing investigation into known defects affecting the Audi A5. Please provide a prompt response with next steps toward resolution. I can be reached at your earliest convenience.

On August 3, 2025, my wife and I came home from dinner and I couldn’t get out of the driver’s side door. I took it to naples Audi where I bought the car and delt with its assistant service manager and service advisor. Audi estimated the repair to be over $1,300. I called Audi USA regional customer service and mike b opened a case 06968056 for me. He got back to me today, August 7, and said Audi corporate and naples Audi will still make me pay $800 to do the repair. I'm submitting this claim because an inoperable door handle is a huge safety problem and liability to any Audi owner. The parts to repair cost $500, which includes a part to connect the interior handle to the door latch that opens the door, and 4 bolts! I found out the interior part of the door handle is made of plastic – unbelievably not metal. Audit assistant service manager told me over time, especially in the southwest florida heat, the plastic can become brittle and crack off the latch. One would think Audi engineers would know to use metal versus plastic for this critical part that enable the door to open. Audi should fully cover the cost to fix my car due to “engineering mistake. ” the part wasn’t broken based on anything I, or any other consumer, could do to provide service maintenance to keep this plastic part from cracking. This breakdown of the driver’s side door not being able to let me out, is a huge safety problem for anyone driving this car.

I was driving along the express way when I heard a loud explosion, I look up to see my sunroof exploded and there was glass all over the kids and I. The explosion was so loud I lost control of the car and almost veered off the road. It was terrifying. It happened last year in the winter then happened this year as well. The temperature outside was about 30degrees, and I was driving about 70mph. There were no other cars in front of me at the time. My daughter and I had scratches from the glass on our back.

Sunroof exploded while driving down the highway. There was no impact from foreign objects and glass breakage shows upward breaks. No injury sustained due to shade being closed.
Water is collecting in the rear passenger door well or the door sill. Water sloshing is heard when braking or accelerating from stop. Problem is more severe after rains or car washes.

The electronic trunk of my Audi A5 failed to stop closing once it hit me on the head. The hatch kept closing in until I was able to move my body out of the way however at this point the hatch already caused a laceration to my skull which resulted in a visit to the emergency room. Vehicle was parked and the engine was on.
While driving on a straight, flat section of I-95 in florida at 70mph, my 2 year old 2018 Audi A5 cabrio's driver's side sun visor suddenly broke off at its base and landed with force on my steering wheel. I'd moved the visor into the up position, flush with the frame, and in doing so, the visor broke off at the base. I had not, nor had I ever, moved the visor with a lot of force. Even when the car was new, the visor had always been too tight, too short, and difficult to move. The resultant distraction of a heavy visor dropping onto my steering wheel caused me to swerve at 70mph. Fortunately traffic was light that day and no accident occurred. Due to a design flaw, the visor can't swing on its support bar as it should. After it broke off, I had to use vise grips to make it swing at all. I then tried lubricating the support bar inside the visor with wd-40, which did not help. Had I tried to reattach the visor with glue, the torque on the support bar caused by the visor's inability to swing freely on its axis suggests that it would instantly break off at the base again. The passenger side visor has not fallen off yet, but the same design will cause that to happen eventually. This vehicle had a 4 year/50k mile warranty, but I had just exceeded the mileage limit so it was no longer warranted. I notified both my Audi dealer and Audi USA about this safety issue. Audi USA says that they will not issue a service advisory or recall, and will not cover the present and future damage to both visors. Despite the sun visors being necessary safety equipment - especially in florida - Audi denies any culpability for this problem. There are many anecdotes online of this same problem from other drivers of this same year/make/model/interior color, and it is not unique to my vehicle. More specifically all the other incidents are happening to Audis with dark gray visors like mine.
I purchased my vehicle in orlando, FL back in April and during the test drive it was discussed with the seller noises in reference to the panoramic sunroof. I live in tampa, FL and was informed by the Audi south/orlando dealership I could make an appointment with a dealer locally to fix the issue. I made an appointment and was informed the glass was replaced and the sun shade, however the tracking for the sun shade was not. I have contacted guest relations at the corporate office for autonation who has involved the general managers of both tampa and orlando, and I have made four trips to the dealership and still the problem persists. I have requested reimbursement for my inconvenience for uber expenses and this was provided by orlando location. I received rental car services once in which I was informed I must provide my personal insurance card and credit card in the invent of any accidents based on the rental in which I kindly obliged with the process. I have been more than patient and understanding, however I have not been able to enjoy my vehicle since the purchase in April. My last contact with Audi tampa I requested a video of the work performed to validate if anything has been done at all. This is truly my dream car and the experience has resulted in pure dissatisfaction. The vehicle came with a one year warranty and I do not understand why new repairs cannot be completed. I currently do not have the documents based on the time of this entry, however this can be provided.

I purchased the car used in 2015 with 35k miles. Since then, its been over eleven times regarding water leaking issues, particular involving the sunroof drains especially the right rear drain over the passenger quarter panel window near the airbag area (c-pillar). The headliner had to be replaced at least once (it should have been replaced other times, but the dealership only cleaned the stains). The sunshade had to be replaced/repair twice because it was damaged during manipulation of the headliner, and the sunroof had to be replaced because it was damaged, and then subsequently adjusted due to squeaking. This sunroof continues to have drainage issues after a heavy rain, which results in water leakage onto and staining the headliner. Each time the dealership states that the drains were blocked and needed cleaning, but the car is mostly garaged kept and is not exposed to a lot of tree litter. I asked if there is a permanent fix, and I've contacted Audi USA regarding this issue asking for a permanent fix or repurchase/replacement of the vehicle to which they response was no they can't help me or resolve the problem. They suggested that I work with the dealership service manager, with whom I've already worked with and they've been helpful, but if it is a design flaw, then Audi USA should do something to correct the problem permanently or buyback the vehicles and make their consumers whole. I am concerned about rusting, compromise of the side airbag (c-pillar), and future deterioration of the headliner. But also the inconvenience and frustration of taking the car into the dealership after a heavy rain (52mi drive one-way) to deal with a leaky roof drain. Please help, initiate a recall so consumers can be made whole by way of repair/replacement or re-purchase of their vehicles this would show auto manufactures that they cannot take advantage of consumers.

Right side (passenger) door latch/lock mechanism failed. Because the lock failed, the alarm system does not see the door as closed and will not arm the system. Subsequently, the door cannot be locked unless you activate using the child proof overide near the latch mechanism. You must reach in through the drivers side to open the door using the handle. This is a safety and security issue that should not happen on any car with less than 55k miles on it. The Audi forums have numerous complaints about this issue with the b8 model car (a4/a5/s4/s5/rs5). Additionally, the dealership wants to charge over $650 for parts and labor. This may be a diy if you are very skilled (read: a mechanic) and if you have the right specialty tools. Additionally, the part alone costs $200 for a new replacement. Used parts are available but if the failure rate is close to the 50-55k mile mark, not many of these are available and those that are available are questionable with regards to reliability. I have asked Audi America (USA) for good faith assistance but they have remained silent.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Audi A5. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked under heavy rainy weather conditions, it was flooded. The dealer inspected the vehicle and discovered that the drainage valve had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. Jo.

Keyless door sensors started to malfunction and would not unlock vehicle when touched. Brought problem to attention of dealership, which stated that they could not duplicate problem and thereby refused to fix issue while the vehicle was still under warranty. Now that the vehicle is no longer under warranty, the problem was found and the cost has to come out of my pocket. There should be a class action lawsuit regarding these keyless door sensor failures.
Audi A5 - 2010 models. These cars come with faulty lower control arms and bushings which results in shaking in driving from 60mph to 70mph. I just bought a brand new car yesterday to be exact, the entire drive home the car shook violently, this type of shaking can and will cause accidents, a full failure of control arms will result in death. Audi has not conducted a mass recall as of yet, I believe they are waiting for a few deaths and a mass protests and intervention from federal government before doing something. . Read more...
