Car Accelerates On Its Own Problems of Audi A8

Tl. Hi, this morning I was involved in an accident when my 2008 Audi A8l suddenly accelerated out of control as I was entering a parking garage. Thankfully it appears no one was injured. I am extremely disturbed by this incident. I have also contacted Audi USA. Is thus a known problem with this car? please let me know what I should do. I don't want this to happen to anyone else and I do not know if I should escalate this issue somewhere else. I am also concerned about driving it again after it is repaired. I always liked the car and if I don't drive it again I could not in good conscious sell it to someone else. Please let me know anything that could help me with this situation. Car suddenly accelerated without warning and propelled us across am intersection into traffic. This is 2nd time this has happened, the first time it happened was on a freeway devoid of other traffic. I reported the first event to the local dealer that I purchased the vehicle from but never received any feedback. After researching the issue I was able to determine that the problem is caused by the drivers factory floor mat coming loose from its retaining clips, sliding forward and causing interference with the accelerator pedal. It was only my familiarity with the problem and how to fix it that allowed me to react quickly enough to avoid an accident the second time. If the car had been driven by a less experienced driver or if this had been the first time that it happened to me this could have easily resulted in a fatality.

While driving the consumer's 1997 Audi A8 quattro accelerated suddenly.

Vehicle experienced sudden acceleration from 30 to 80 miles pmh. Consumer had to stomp on brakes several times in order to stop the vehicle. Taken to dealer to reset the computer, but the cause was undetermined.

While applying the brakes to park this vehicle it suddenly accelerated. Vehicle came to a stop after being wedged in between two parked vehicles. Dealer has been contacted.
