Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problems of the 2001 Audi Allroad

Two problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 2001 Audi Allroad. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

Fuel and fuel vapor leaks from the top of the fuel tank presenting a serious fire hazard when moving (slowly or at highway speeds) or stationary. The fuel leak is most obvious when the tank is more than 1/2 full. Vapor emissions occur at all times resulting in a failure to meet emissions standards. A hard plastic material is used for the fuel tank's vent. It is connected to a rigid aluminum vent line. Relative movement and aging has resulted in a failure of the plastic vent. Audi's recall fix from 2008 (NHTSA 08v-157) - I. E. , installing an epoxy-filled mold - has not prevented failure of the plastic vent. Since the plastic vent is 'welded' to the top of the hdpe tank, the entire tank must be replaced to address the failed vent.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2015

The contact owns a 2001 Audi Allroad. The contact stated that fuel was leaking from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and it was determined that the reinforcement nipple to the rollover on the fuel tank failed. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 08v157000 (fuel system) and would not be repaired under the recall. The failure mileage was unknown.
