Audi Allroad owners have reported 5 problems related to other fuel system tank assembly (under the other fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
See Audi technical service bulletin # 2043758/8. Audi is aware of the issue and has a fix, but has not issues a recall. Please see attached diagnostic paperwork fuel can vaporize in the tank resulting in low fuel pressure and delivery rate. The safety concern is that this could potentially cause a fuel cut which could cause the car to suddenly lose power and rapidly decrease in speed. Since the brake lights would not engage in this scenario, a driver behind the affected vehicle may not realize what is happening; unable to stop in time, the following vehicle may collide with the affected vehicle. Affected vehicle will likely have a check engine light symptom. This is what caught my attention leading to obtaining a dealership diagnosis. *note, I have not personally experienced a fuel cut yet, but I first got an engine light in cold weather and have not experienced a warm environment where the fuel has vaporized enough to cause a fuel cut. There are individuals in online forums who have experienced fuel cuts with the 2. 0t gas engine in this vehicle.

Fuel and fuel vapor leaks from the top of the fuel tank presenting a serious fire hazard when moving (slowly or at highway speeds) or stationary. The fuel leak is most obvious when the tank is more than 1/2 full. Vapor emissions occur at all times resulting in a failure to meet emissions standards. A hard plastic material is used for the fuel tank's vent. It is connected to a rigid aluminum vent line. Relative movement and aging has resulted in a failure of the plastic vent. Audi's recall fix from 2008 (NHTSA 08v-157) - I. E. , installing an epoxy-filled mold - has not prevented failure of the plastic vent. Since the plastic vent is 'welded' to the top of the hdpe tank, the entire tank must be replaced to address the failed vent.

While driving my engine light came on, and I smelled gas. I brought the car to a shop to have it repaired. There is a gas leak from rollover valve on the gas tank. Was recalled in 2009, repaired by the dealer. I have just bought the car used and found that the same problem is occurring again. With some research I found out that the dealer fixed the problem with epoxy.

The fuel tank has developed a leak on its own. I filled my car the Thursday September 3, 2015. On September 8, 2015 the fuel gauge was down a quarter tank. I smelled gas outside of the car. My mechanic tells me the leak is at a plastic welded nub on the right side of the tank. This is a plastic fuel tank. If I fill the tank above the halfway mark this is when the tank leaks. The car is going in for service on Monday for a fuel tank replacement. I have opened case number 150699218 with Audi corporate. They wanted me to allow them to tow the car to a dealership and let the dealer make a diagnosis. We were desperately afraid that the cost of this would be exorbitant. It takes 10+ hours to get the removed and reinstalled. The tank is about $700. 00 we are truly afraid to go to the dealer for anything. We have an independent Audi mechanic we have used for years. Audi was offering to pay for the tow and the diagnosis. We were thinking Audi would use the excuse of disassembling the car, "find the problem" and then charge 5 of the 10 hours to put the tank in. We did not want to get stuck with that. This is awhy we go to an independent mechanic who is highly competent and we trust. I will know more about the leak on Monday or Tuesday . This could lead to a fire.

The contact owns a 2001 Audi Allroad. The contact stated that fuel was leaking from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and it was determined that the reinforcement nipple to the rollover on the fuel tank failed. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 08v157000 (fuel system) and would not be repaired under the recall. The failure mileage was unknown.
