Electrical System Problems of Audi Q3 - part 2

While waiting at a signal, I got at message that my maps could not continue because I had no power, then the park assist came on with no explanation. After that, I got the message to put the car in park to prevent it rolling away. I tried to restart, but it would not. As the signal changed and traffic had to move around me, I put on the emergency lights and continued to try to start the car. It took 3-4 tries. I then took it to the dealer who did an inspection and test drive, but nothing showed up. I was about to get on the freeway when this happened and worried about driving. Even after inspection of the vehicle, I am hesitant about driving on the freeway and worried about this happening again, this time with the engine in gear.

Cpo with 20k miles that I bought back on August 25, 2021 from Audi. It is equipped with push/start. Vehicle won't start. I have tried to use both key-fob with fresh brand new battery. Did not work I even checked to see if the battery was good. Still it won't start. I ran my scanner got a u0101 loss communication to tcm (transmission control module). I had Audi came with a flat bed to pick up the vehicle on January 24, 2022 (vehicle have around 26k miles). Just last Friday February 4, 2022 Audi dealership in rockville, maryland text my wife said they need to get in contact with the Audi in germany. This whole time they did not get us a loaner or a rental to use. It's hard to communicate with the service provider.

My rear lights are not working properly. I had a malfunction warning and for the right rear light. Which is making all the lights not functioning. It almost had me rear ended.

The contact owns a 2015 Audi Q3. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the horn was depressed however, no sound was heard. The contact also stated that all the buttons on the steering wheel failed to operate when engaged such as the radio and windshield wipers. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the failure was diagnosed as an improper ground wire connected to the steering wheel. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

While on the road, on the first month of driving the car August/September 2019, the car slowed down to 2-5 mph with a note on the dash screen to call service. I crawled the car to the side of the road. Gas pedal and breaks not working, pulling the emergency park button to stop the car. Immediately brought to Audi service in fairfield CT for diagnostic and found nothing. Early November 2020 this has happen yet again in the middle of a stop light but this time the whole engine/car died with the ignition for 2 minutes. With my hazard lights on, I continued to start the car several times until it starts. Unfortunately, I do not feel safe in my car and Audi services are not helping/cannot find the issue. It now has happen multiple times. Will I be dead next time is what goes through my mind.

I bought my 2020 Q3 sline premium on August 15, 2020. The vehicle had stalled twice, first on August 17, 2020 and second on August 20, 2020. In both cases, the engine stopped as soon as I stopped in auto with my parking brakes engaged. The display screen also went dead/blank in both cases. In both cases I had to restart before I can drive. I also notice that when stopped and the auto stop engages the steering wheel locks making it difficult to turn a corner from a red light. Additionally, while driving the car identifies tar on the road as lanes and jerks the car away and it is very difficult to pull the steering back.

Continue to malfunction while driving. Light,brake, seat light,system light,tire pressure light, steering light, everything is malfunction including the battery lifht,light, ut wouldn't start,had the battery replace and all the lights still on on the vehicle. Afaid to drive it that it could catch on fire with the electrical system malfunction. Would not start sitting had to jump it to get home.

My life was almost taken away by my cars engine failing in the middle of making a left turn on a 4-lane road where traffic is going 50 mph. When it stalled, the engine just quit leaving only electrical (lights & media) working. I felt I was trapped as a car was headed right for me and I could not even increase speed because the whole car just seem to not move forward. I eventually pulled into a median, but nonetheless I am scared to drive this car. Much like the person who also reported this issue.

On three occasions, touchscreen failed to turn on preventing reverse camera from activating. Screen stayed blank or was unresponsive for several minutes. Vehicle was both stationary and in motion -- switching in and out of reverse did not resolve issue.

My 2020 Q3 purchased December 21, 2019 malfunctioned in the middle of an intersection January 22, 2020. It had 1400 miles on it. The steering wheel locked and I had no engine. I could not turn the steering wheel and it shut off the brake lights, which left me in a seriously unsafe situation. This was the third time it happened. The other two instances happened in a parking lot. I thought I had done something wrong with the start/stop. My dealership has dismissed my safety concerns and have offered no resolution to the problem, other than disengage the start/stop every time I get in the vehicle. There was no guarantee of when this would be fixed and was told it could be months to get the parts. There was also no guarantee that this wouldn't happen with the start/stop already disengaged. I am driving a vehicle that could potentially shut down without warning leaving my life and the lives of others at risk.

When the auto start-stop function activates (turning the engine off), the steering wheel locks. The car can continue to roll when you let your foot off the brake to start moving again, but the steering wheel remains locked not allowing you to steer the car when necessary. I almost got hit because of this and it is very scary not to be able to steer out of the way when necessary!!! this is horrible function of the car which can cause a lot of accidents!!.

The lane-departure assist does not always recognize the tar lines on the road as non-lines. The lane departure assist almost pulled me into a guard rail on the highway when exiting!!! this has happened on several occasions and is terrifying! it takes quite a bit of strength to obtain control back from the car!! it is also very hard to steer when the lane assist takes over and does not allow you to veer out of the way when someone swerved into your lane! again, it takes quite a bit of strength to wrestle back control from the car! please help! these assist features are a hazard to normal driving! if I had known about these flaws, I would had never leased the car. I am not stuck in a dangerous car for 3 years! help others! please!!.

I was driving and smelled fire/smoke from the dashboard. There was the start of a fire and smoke started coming out from behind the mmi screen. The connection for phone got choppy but did not go out completely.

Back up camera won't work when car transmission is in reverse, nor when manually pressing park assist button. This has happened on a couple of occasions before but I thought it was a fluke, today back up camera was completely disabled multiple times while driving when putting transmission in reverse.

The radio to the vehicle becomes non-operational intermittently, I. E. This has taken place in the past two consecutive days. Start the car in the morning, and noticed no radio, and loss of volume control. After a period of time, the radio becomes functional, and the volume control is enabled. This has not taken place when I bought the car new from the dealership, however recently it has become an annoyance, and distracting. The vehicle in question is parked nightly in a garage, and this occurs when starting the car in a stationary position, and continues during backup out of the driveway, and moving forward onto the street.

The electrical system has failed twice with no warning. The car had to towed to the dealership the first time to have the battery replaced. The second time we could jump it and drive it there and they replaced the battery again. The dealership advised that there is a known electrical short or current leakage affecting Q3s. I brought my concern to Audi but they refused to do anything about it. The first time it happened it had been parked overnight in my garage and would not start. The second time it happened after it had been driven during the day. Both incidents were in atlanta, georgia. The car is 2 years and 2 months old.
