1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2025

On [xxx] at [xxx], at my home, I pulled out of driveway in my 2012 Audi 2012 Q5, I drove three houses down, and the sunroof exploded sending shattered glass on myself, my then [xxx] son, and into the cabin of the car. I called Audi for repair, but was informed there was a 3 to 4 month wait, ordered a on repairs. So I ordered a replacement and installed myself. On [xxx] my 2012 Audi Q5, would not start, dash fault indicated crankcase/ camshaft not alinged. Put vehicle in a Audi repair shop (not dealership) for repairs. Damage was crankcase, timing chain, and timing chain tensioner research done found that there was six recalls on the vehicle, one involving the sunroof shattering, and the other involving the crankcase, timing chain, and tensioner. On 04/15/2025 I called Audi at 800-822-2834 about the incidents, and inquiring about the six recalls, attempting to make sure the repairs had been completed. The representative was able to provide dates that a case was closed based on the VIN of my vehicle but was not able to confirm that the recall repairs had been done, she stated a claim being closed "usually meant a repair was done. But only the dealership that opened the case would have more information. I requested the dealership information, advising that I was concerned as thus far the recall repairs seem to be failing, and the recall on the airbags could cause potential death if deployed. I requested a supervisor call back. On 04/16/2025 I received a call back from a supervisor name juan/id 43248. I explained to him the issue with the previous recalls failing and my concerns about the airbags, and asked for the dealership name and number that did the repairs. He refused to give me the information sighting it contained information on the previous owner. I seek to confirm that these repairs were actually done in fear that they may not have been, and if a airbag is deployed I and passengers may end up dead as a result. Please advise. 2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2024

Oil leaking excessively + low oil pressure.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2021

Extreme oil consumption (burning 2+ quarts in less than 500 miles); cutting off while idling. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. If this is a leak, it could possibly catch on fire while my child is driving to school, or it could cut off while driving causing a bad accident. Yes it has been confirmed by a repair facility. Check/add oil indicator; check engine light; emits black smoke from rear. Issues appeared 2 days after purchasing the car.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2019

My car was purchased on July 20th 2019, with 105k miles. . . I am having to add oil every 400-100 miles. . . I am also beginning to see random alerts and cannot seem to rest them when no defects are found. This is very frustrating and causing major confusion and concerns.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2019

The oil light comes on approximately every two weeks saying it's safe to drive but add oil. This has been going on for since 2 months after I purchased the car. I add a quart of oil each time and when I took it in to get checked I was told this car was checked for this issue previously. They said there are no leaks that the car is just burning oil. They gave no valid reason. The car has been checked twice for this oil problem and no results. When I was turning onto the highway a month ago the car light came on and said turn off vehicle now. No warning other than add oil car is still safe to drive. I pulled to the side of the highway and the car stalled out and turned off automatically before I was in park. Only going about 5-10 mph. After a few minutes I tried to restart a few times and it finally started. I went home and added oil to it yet again. I need to add oil when're the light comes on as to not have it shut off on me.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2019

These vehicles consume oil excessively causing consumers to carry oil quarts inside their vehicles have read its the pistons which burn the oil this should be a recall from Audi to fix this inconvenient problem.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2019

Due to extreme cold weather the rear sunroof glass pane shattered. The vehicle was parked over night in negative degree weather; not in motion. Audi dealership recognizes this as a natural caused instance, not covered by warranty and not covered under the past recall, which was only for the front sunroof glass pane.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2016

My husband and I were driving in my 2012 Audi Q5 on the highway on may 4 when the sunroof shattered, dropping glass all over the interior of the car and us. There were no other vehicles ahead of or next to us, no overpasses, no people. . . The sunroof blew out from the inside and the vehicle behind us swerved as glass flew at their car. We were traveling at 75 mph, the legal speed for the road. The temperature was a moderate 73 degrees f. The car just turned over 40,000 miles and the warranty expired on Jan. 31. The car is kept in the garage at home and at work.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2014

My vehicle is equipped with optional keyless entry/operation called Audi advanced key. I drove the vehicle using the keyless feature for approximately 15-20 minutes to pick up child from school. The key was in my purse and placed in the front passenger side seat. Upon returning home, the car was parked in its usual outside parking spot. I placed the vehicle in park, turned off the vehicle and unlocked all doors using the button on the driver side door (all doors are set to automatically lock upon driving the vehicle above 5mph). Never moving my purse and key from the front seat where initially placed, I exited the vehicle and closed the door to retrieve my child. Upon closing the door, the vehicle beeped and locked the doors automatically - which would have been unusual in any circumstance even if the keys were outside the vehicle. Audi advanced key system should not allow a vehicle to lock when keys are inside the vehicle. This caused my child to be stranded, still strapped to his car seat (2-years old) for over half an hour until the fire department arrived. A call to 911 emergency services was made and fire department responded. The vehicle is well maintained only by an Audi dealership based on the manufacturer's recommended service timeline and has never been in an accident. Potential causes may include faulty cpu programming and/or electrical systems. Based on internet searches, problem appears more frequent than normal - especially with trunk access. Luckily this incident was not during a hot summer day, but can pose risk to small children.
