Safety system malfunction message appears on dash. Passenger side air bag goes on and off while driving. Whole system chimes and random messages flashing on screen constantly. At times system doesn’t recognize that I have my drivers side seatbelt buckled. So system keeps chiming cars stanton. Random messages flash on dash. Traffic jam assist (3 cars symbol) unavailable and image flash on dash and does another chime. Vehicle has given random warning beeps when reversing 2 times since these issues started and has done automatic breaking both times as I was trying to reverse. Issues happen randomly and started about 300 miles ago (2 weeks or so) seem to be getting more frequent in past few days. I was trying to check today for open recall and was surprised to not have any for this issue / vehicle. I have not yet called the dealership but plan on doing so this week. This “safety system malfunction” and all the chimes, flashes, beeps, screen messages and the automatic vehicle responses is very dangerous!!.
The seatbelt and passenger airbag systems go on and off making alarms go off. Making the vehicle unsafe in accidents. After taking my vehicle in for inspection, Audi stated that the component that has to be changed has been a recall in other Audi vehicles and is not covered under warranty.
The Audi "pre sense" automatic braking system engaged without warning and without reason bringing the vehicle to a sudden and complete stop in the middle of an intersection and slamming my body backwards and causing my head to go forward nearly hitting the steering wheel. A school bus was directly behind me and was able to stop in time before it ran into the back of my vehicle, but it could have caused serious injury or death to multiple people. It caused a considerable amount of pain in my neck the day after and soreness in my ribs. The vehicle gave no prior warning. It did display a message simultaneously when it applied the brakes and locked the seatbelts that the "pre sense" had been engaged. It has happened three times prior to this incident. The vehicle dealer has told me that they see record of the system engaging but it does not appear to be faulty by the manufacturers standards despite numerous complaints and frequent occurrences.
Unkown best assessment: Audible beeping 6 times. Pause. Repeats Audible beeping six times. Repeats. Passenger seat unoccupied with no items on passenger seat. Connect passenger seat belt (without occupant) and beeping stops. Suspect faulty passenger seat sensor.
The passenger seat belt can note be used. It locks up and can't be pulled out. Similar to when someone pulls it out too far, but fully retracted you can not pull it out.
Seat belt would not release. The first dozen or so times it was extremely difficult to get it to release. Over time it became less difficult, still a struggle. It is currently at Audi of greenville, SC waiting for a replacement part for a safety issue at a cost of almost $800.
My 2018 Audi Q5 has a water intrusion issue with control module damage. The vehicle reduce speed to 15 mph on the highway, when parked the lights would not shut off. The vehicle would then not turn on. Thirty minutes later the vehicle started. I received a front passenger seatbelt malfunction and several controls went out. The passenger seatbelt would not recognize there was a passenger buckled in the seat. The lights stayed on. The windshield wipers started on their own. The car wouldn’t recognize the key fob. Later the turn signal malfunctioned, along with the front lights staying on but the rear light and license plate light would not come on. At the dealership they found water in the comfort module housing, left rear quarter panel/wheelbase and said it was probably caused by the pressure vent seal allowing water to enter damaging the comfort module and 56 wires. They stated the vehicle was unsafe and inoperable. They also were not able to roll the windows back up or lock and secure my vehicle. The issues with the vehicle speed occurred 5 weeks ago. The dealership changed the thermostat but the speed reduction happened again afterwards once but when it was turned off and turned back on the speed went back to normal. Then today the vehicle just went crazy with things turning on and other controls not working, like the taillights. Multiple times I have told the dealership of the seatbelt malfunction. They said it was probably the seat detecting something on the seat, like a bag but couldn’t account for the malfunction when the seat was occupied. The vehicle is now at the dealership with plastic taped around the opened windows and unsecured since the locking controls will not work. They suggested I file a claim with my insurance for the repair. This screams defect to me!.
The car was constantly smelling like smoke. It felt like it was going to catch fire. I got it serviced when it had to be serviced at 15k but Audi dealership did not warn of any recall and mentioned everything was great with the car. In the end I had to sell the car which was in April, 22 because I didn’t feel safe driving the car anymore. I would also constantly get airbag being deployed warnings on the screen and one time the car shut down automatically as I was driving at about 45mph going up the mountain.
Seatbelt tensioner and air bags failed to deploy when the vehicles was in a severe frontal collision when another vehicle ran a stop sign exiting the highway.
Vehicle keeps stating safety system malfunction. The passenger airbag continues to turn on and off while driving. Even when manually shut off through glove box, the alert continues to occur while driving.
Air bags did not deploy in Audi at full stop when struck from the rear by vehicle traveling at speed sufficient for their air bags to deploy. Driver and passenger were both wearing seat belts, but accident resulted in both being hospitalized with injuries. Driver with eye and abdominal injuries from striking the steering wheel, and passenger suffered concussion from striking the windshield with sufficient force to shatter it, plus sustaining numerous muscle and joint sprains from impact with dashboard.
I was driving 65 miles an hour on I-95 in the left lane approaching the exit for I-695 north on Saturday, January 4th at 5:00pm. It was raining. No one was in front of me or behind me when my car dash lit up with an Audi pre sense red sign on a black background. The brakes stopped the car suddenly on their own and my seat belt slammed me tightly into my seat. Fortunately no one was behind me or this could have caused a multi car accident. There was nothing visible on the road to set this system off. Monday morning I went to the dealer to see if they could disconnect this system since I was now afraid this would happen again and I would not be so lucky with the traffic situation the next time. They lowered the sensitivity but they could not disconnect the system. I also called Audi to inform them about this hazard. They noted it on their record but said it is part of the car and it could not be disconnected. When I looked on line there were many complaints about this problem; however none of the other drivers were on the open highway full speed ahead. Can this problem be looked into before someone's car causes a major pileup with serious injuries. Thank you!.
Any time my apple cell phone se model is in the passenger seat, the seat belt unbuckled alarm intermittently is activated on the dash. I see this as a safety issue particularly if a child was in the back seat, since it could be realized as a false alarm, but actually be a true unbuckling somewhere in the vehicle. This occurs with the vehicle in motion, but the phone stationary (ie. Not traveling over road bumps, potholes or cornering) and is unpredictable. This has been occurring since I took possession Nov 30 last year and was not able to be rectified by the dealership or by them contacting Audi central for guidance. All that was done was resetting the electronics to factory settings which did not solve the problem. Only suggestion was not to allow the phone to sit in the seat?.
During a rear end collision, the vehicle, a 2019 Audi Q5, was stopped, stationary, on a city street at a red light. The vehicle was struck in the rear by another vehicle going approx. 30-40 mph. Both rear seat passengers in the Audi sustained significant injuries. Of the major complaints, the lower back injury has been ongoing (6 months+) of significant back pain worsened and significantly increased due to the design of the rear seats and specifically the built in "lumbar support" in the rear passenger seats. This stiff and extruding lumbar protrusion built into the rear passenger seats was forced into the lower lumbar region of both rear seat passengers during the motor vehicle collision. Both rear seat passengers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident. This mva was documented by a police report, insurance claims, and ongoing litigation.

1)Audi pre-sense activated while vehicle was stationary, in drive, with driver's foot on the brake. This occurred while waiting in the left turn lane of a traffic light. The seat belt pre-tightened suddenly, and forcefully. While the vehicle is stopped at a light the occupants could be expected to be leaning over, looking in the glove box etc. , and the pre-tightening of the seat belt could cause an injury. This is also startling, since it seems indicative of a collision, and could cause the driver to remove their foot from the brake losing control of the vehicle. The pre-sense system is supposed to only be active above 20mph. Its activation when the vehicle is stopped implies a serious safety defect. Could this defect cause other safety related systems to activate incorrectly like the air bags?.
We rear-ended a semi truck while driving on a highway as traffic began to slow . The entire front end of our vehicle was badly damaged. The airbags did not deploy and the pretensioners on the drivers seatbelt did not engage . The speed at which we were traveling is unknown but likely more than 15 miles per hour and less than 40 miles per hour. The driver looked away from the road briefly and rear-ended the truck ahead . We are extremely concerned that our airbags and seatbelt did not engage. The driver hit her head on the steering wheel and the passengers knees were jammed into the glove compartment.
