The left front marker light is not working and a warning shows up on the dashboard. It's a safety issue as the vehicle may be less visible at night, increasing the risk of a crash. I took my vehicle to an Audi dealership. The person helping me knew immediately what the issue was as he has seen it many times. When I looked up the issue online, I saw many other Audi owners (not only Q7 either) have the same issue of a side maker light not illuminating. I also saw that there was a recall for side marker lights, however, it seems my VIN was not included in the recall. Audi should be responsible for fixing this known issue that occurs in many of its cars. The dealership told me it would be $5k-$6k to replace the small light bulb! truly outrageous!.
The contact's husband owns a 2017 Audi Q7. The contact stated while driving and activating the headlights, there was a message stating that the side marker lights were inoperable displayed. The contact stated that the failure recurred whenever the headlights were activated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included NHTSA campaign number: 16v642000 (electrical system, exterior lighting) and could not be repaired under the recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.
“front right side marker light defective” meanwhile all light still work.
Safety recall for backup camera has tried to be repaired 3 times now and not fixed.
While driving the vehicle, I received a warning that there was an electrical system failure. Then the entire care shut off in the middle of the highway. There was no way to get the vehicle into neutral to push it to a safer location out of traffic. I was in the vehicle with my two children. This left us stranded in the middle of the highway with a significant amount of traffic. There was no way to get the vehicle back on. This seems to be a known issue with Audi and they have notified the dealerships about it but have not issued a recall. Please expedite this as a recall. There could not have been a more dangerous situation for me and my children.

Error warning "front right side marker defective" is displayed. Other 2017 Q7s are included on the recall list for this issue (recall #16v642000) but our VIN number is not included.
Twice in the last 2weeks the vehicle has an electrical system failure while on expressway. This is dangerous as the message tells you to immediately stop driving. On a highway this is a serious hazard.
My car first had a warning “electrical system: malfunction! please contact service. ” I made a appointment at my Audi dealership 2 days later, but the next day I got more warnings. “automatic start/stop system: malfunction!” then my power steering was not working. I decided to drive straight to the service department that afternoon, but never made it. In rush hour traffic on a busy street, my Q7 started beeping every warning - “electrical system: malfunction! safely stop vehicle”, “drive system: malfunction! stop vehicle safely” and the vehicle decreased speed then abruptly turned off. I was so scared that I would get hit by the traffic zooming around me. It wouldn't go into neutral and my parking brake was engaged blinking. I put on my hazard lights and called 911 for traffic assistance while sitting in my car. I was able to safely exit and after calling Audi, I could get my car into neutral and move it off the busy street with the help of some good samaritans. I had the car towed to Audi. The service department said they have seen this a handful of times and that it's a problem with the accelerator/generator.
You have a safety recall #16v-642 for this model and the dealer did not put my VIN# in the recall but yet my vehicle is saying the the left and right side marker lights are defective and the dealer will not correct it, instead they are trying to make me pay to replace the entire light harness for both head light assembly for $4,000, my next stop is with a class action law suit to get this taken up. I am wondering how many people with these cars have paid to replace their lights when apparently it’s just a software update but you cannot get the dealers to do it because in their computers Audi did not enter all the VIN numbers affected by this recall. I am asking for your help in this situation since you have the recall.
Side marker light warning is illuminated even though light is working. Warning comes on when the lights come on.

I was driving on the freeway at 60 mph when pushing on the gas pedal, the Audi Q7 2017 started to DE-accelerate from 60 - 30 and then went lower. The gas pedal then locked while still on a lane on the freeway and luckily I was able to quickly move to the shoulder of the freeway. From there my car proceeded to not start and kept flashing low battery, telling me to put it into drive. I could not put it into drive to start the car. There were no warnings as the car lost speed on the freeway and a mechanic has determined it is the fuel pump. This was a very scary incident as my two young children and dog were in the car and if I hadn't been able to move to the side quickly, we would have been stopped in the middle of a busy city freeway. Additionally, it took a tow truck two hours to reach us. I keep my car well maintained with service.
"front left side market light defective" - when the vehicle turns on and the lights activate the side marker lights do not illuminate. There was a recall for this model and year but doesn't include my VIN#. This is happening to many 2017 Q7 models. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment. ".
The contact owns a 2018 Audi Q7. The contact stated that there was an abnormal fuel odor inside the cabin of the vehicle at start-up, and the mmi system warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the fuel pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the mmi system was not fixed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000.

Emergency battery light came on with a description of power malfunction. The light went from yellow to red then shortly stopped in the road while driving with complete power outage.
Car displayed electrical issue when driving daughter to school. Let husband know but was only a yellow warning and had a full day planned. I unfortunately assumed it was just a battery issue and continued with my day, but made an appointment at Audi for repair. I drove to my next appointment and the yellow warning moved to a red warning but I was 20 minutes from home. I called my husband and warned him I’d probably not make it all the way home, I made it another 10 miles and then it completely turned off on the freeway, I was prepared and had stayed in the right lane thinking this could be coming. Towed the car to Audi, they are ordering parts and warned it could be 4 weeks before I got my car back. The “generator” needs to be replaced.
I purchased a used 2017 Audi Q7 premium on 11/16/2023 from a Volkswagen. Since it showed the message "brake pads: wear limit reached. You can continue driving. Please contact service", the agreed to repair it. I didn't receive my vehicle until 2 weeks later. They said that the work was done but after driving it for a couple of days the message is still showing. After driving it off the lot, minutes later I get a message "front left side marker light defective. See owner's manual". After examining the side markers it doesn't look the neither side is out and there is no way showing on how to clear the message. I haven't taken it to an Audi dealership as of yet. But worried on if I made the right purchase.
Per carfax, my preowned 2021 Q7 with 9k miles has had several visits to Audi dealerships. The car was eventually used for a buy back. That said, Audi USA "fixed" the vehicle and sold it. The car is not fixed and as the new owner I've waited 2 weeks after buying this car to drive and possess it only to have the battery warning light back on the dashboard after taking possession today. The car was previously at an Audi dealership before it was cleared to be shipped to me. It seems Audi is unable to fix this car. I will need to tow it now to another Audi dealership as I'm afraid the car will lose all power during any attempt to drive it back to a dealership.
Battery light on dash red and yellow abs light on. . Multi electric faults. On my massage board and car died on the road.
In the first 10k miles the motherboard had to be replaced. Then the volume dial twice. Then the fuel sensor broke and because of its placement the entire gas tank had to be replaced. Next up at 45k the medtronic (brains of the transmission had to be replaced and then the differential was having problems and they were debating working on it. I went to sell it at 48k miles before the warranty expired and during the inspection it was noted the two engine mounts were leaking and needed to be replaced. After I sold it to an Audi dealer, different than the Audi dealer I had purchased the car from and where I had all the warranty work done, I found out the carfax report showed none of the repairs made by the original Audi dealer to the car. Seems fradulent to me by the original Audi dealership who did all the major repairs.

Starter generator failed on 10/12/2023 while the car was being driven. Warning received was "electrical system: malfunction! safely stop vehicle" there are multiple reports online of people experiencing similar problems and have had recalls. We never had a recall and this could have caused a fatality. We feel Audi has been negligent.
While driving, vehicle flashed red error codes for an electrical system malfunction and indicated that the vehicle should be stopped as soon as possible. As part of this failure, the auto start/stop for the vehicle became disabled. Vehicle was towed to Audi dealer, and after sitting on the lot for a week, the dealer confirmed that the starter generator for the 48v mild hybrid system failed.
Our 2020 Audi Q7 (50,100 miles) suffered a catastrophic electrical failure while traveling on the freeway at 65+mph. Suddenly the engine warning light went on, and then seconds later the entire interior lit up like a christmas tree before it succumbed to a complete and catastrophic electrical failure. Everything failed – the car had zero power. No acceleration, brakes, steering, sos, hazards / turn signals, brake lights, airbags, door locks, etc. My wife and child sat there in a steel box traveling at a high rate of speed while obstacles navigated around them; had they been hit, the air bags would not have deployed. This car nearly cost me my family. Audi replaced the alternator and the battery, and denied my buy-back claim because the incident hasn’t happened multiple times, and therefore doesn’t qualify for the lemon law. We continue to experience problems with the car – most recently: acceleration hesitation and recent warning lights saying 1. Camera sensor failure (only to have them start working again), 2. Tire pressure warnings (despite all the tire pressures being normal), and 3. Warnings notifying me that lights are out (despite all lights operating normally). I believe Audi is underestimating the severity of the situation. We were fortunate that the initial failure on the freeway did not result in injuries or fatalities. I cannot fathom the idea of waiting for the vehicle to fail multiple times before taking it off the road, potentially putting lives at risk. The car has only been serviced at Audi dealerships. My family and I no longer feel safe in this car. While selling it is an option, I cannot, in good conscience, endanger someone else's life by not disclosing the vehicle's history and the well-known electrical defects Audi has.
On Sep 17 2023 my wife was driving her Audi Q7. Which has 25,780 miles. She drove to a parking lot for a hiking trip, pressed on the brake and the car instead of stopping accelerated. She kept trying to press the brake, however the car did not stop until it hit a tree. The car has been towed to our house and it is not driveable. The car has not been inspected yet. I plan on calling the Audi dealer on Monday, Sep 18th. No lights appeared before the incident.
While driving with my 4 year-old daughter a notification appeared on the driver display that there is an “electrical malfunction” and to call the service department. A few minutes later, while actively driving on the same busy road in my town, the vehicle completely turned off, including the power steering and abs breaks. I was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection with no hazard lights and no ability to even shift the vehicle into neutral to move it. I was genuinely concerned for my safety and the safety of my daughter, as we were stranded in the middle of a busy intersection during rush hour. It was a harrowing experience to say the least. Eventually we had the vehicle towed. When I called Audi, they informed me that they suspected it was the “starter generator” and that they were aware of the issue, but this was the first I had heard of it. They subsequently confirmed that it was the starter generator and are less than accommodating.
The contact owns a 2017 Audi Q7. The contact stated that the passenger’s side front marker light defective message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v642000 (electrical system, exterior lighting). The contact was informed that the repair would not be covered under warranty. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle remained in the dealer's possession and was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
Water leakage into the driver’s side floor panel. Water leakage seeped into battery compartment below driver’s seat which is a result of a sunroof drain problem. New battery was installed for only 3 months before the low battery charge warning light came on. Car will not start at times. Water leakage into electrical components that lead to the mmi not turning on or working at all. The mmi shut off first, then the battery became faulty. The car has been jumped at least 10 times due to the water damage, which proposes a risk to the driver. The electrical components are being flooded, which is a safety issue and proposes a safety hazard to the driver and all passengers. The electrical is at risk for further damage. This problem has been reported by others many times. Other warning lights such as the air bag light comes on and goes off, which is a safety risk if the air bags are faulty and the driver cannot tell if the malfunction is electronics based caused by water damage.

While parking the car, the gearshift got stuck in “neutral” even though n was not pressed. I was not able to restart the car once I turned it off. Every time I pressed the start button, a warning would come on the screen “ please put the vehicle in park. Risk of roll over”. When I pressed the park button, nothing would happen. I got out of the car, but it wouldn’t lock. Unable to start the car for over 2 hours. Finally had to get the car towed to Audi dealership. It’s only one year old SUV. No prior similar problems.

When driving into a dimly lit area the car rings and displays the message front left side marker defective. The warning stays on for some time and then goes away before returning again. This continued for a few weeks. The car then experienced a full electrical system malfunction, doors unlocking and locking randomly while driving before dinging repeatedly with multiple warnings displayed in the dash and then stalled in the middle of the road. The vehicle would not shift into park. Multiple warnings continued to ding and flash in the dash. After being turned off for 20 minutes the car was able to be started shifted into drive and driven with no warnings displayed. The car was taken to the dealership for diagnostics which were performed, but with no electrical system malfunction displayed. The left side marker warning was still on, but the dealer said there was no fix for this. The following month the car was taken for 60,000 mile service. At this time the dealer advised the fix for left side market was replacing the entire headlamp fixture. The service was declined. When the vehicle left the dealer the cruise control was on and would not turn off. After turning off the car and turning it back on the cruise control was off. After driving a short distance the speed control warning dinged and displayed and the cruise control was back on. The orange engine light was also displayed although there was no written warning for this.
