Wiper Problems of Audi Q7 - part 1

I am filing a formal complaint regarding serious safety-related defects in a newly purchased Audi vehicle. Immediately upon delivery, the car presented: • a faulty solenoid, a critical engine component, creating risks of engine misfires, sudden stalling, loss of acceleration, and transmission malfunctions while driving. Such failures pose imminent hazards during the cross-country travel that military families like mine regularly undertake. • defective windshield wipers from the outset, jeopardizing visibility and safety during inclement weather. These defects demonstrate systemic quality control failures by Audi, undermining the safety expectations owed to u. S. Consumers. Requested action I urge NHTSA 1. Investigate Audi for potential violations of federal motor vehicle safety standards. 2. Evaluate whether a recall is warranted, as this appears not to be an isolated case. 3. Hold Audi accountable for delivering vehicles with concealed or unaddressed safety defects. As a u. S. Military officer, I cannot risk the safety of my family in a vehicle plagued by such defects. American families deserve full confidence that new vehicles meet uncompromising safety standards.

Right passenger windshield wiper arm, broke off and windshield during driving. It started to sprinkle and the automatic windshield wipers came on. The right passenger side wiper arm broke off and went flying over the vehicle. Fortunately the vehicle behind me was far away and was able to maneuver out of the way. I checked and the whole arm broke, not the wiper blade. The drivers side is fine. I read that this is a common issue and that many drivers have had the exact issue on the same side. This spans over several years. I saw from 2008 Q7 to 2016.

Hvac flap motors (2 of them) failed for the second time impairing visibility during inclement weather. The first time was under warranty. This second time is costing me $1550 plus tax. When these flap motors fail, they remain closed and do not allow the heating or ac to blow into the vehicle which results in windows fogging up completely. It is impossible to drive without windows open which is not practical in the winter cold rainy season.

1. Entire passenger windshield wiper arm flew off of car during a rain storm on the highway. Needed replaced. This caused me to have obstructed vision. No warning lights or symptoms before it happened. 2. Passenger windshield wiper got stuck straight up, caught by driver wiper and pulled off. Needed replaced again. Obstructed vision, not able to use wipers until I was able to pull over and correct it.

Driving on a Saturday evening when it started raining. Wipers automatically engaged, suddenly saw passenger side blade warp then snap off and fly off the to the side of the street causing the driver behind me to swerve almost causing an accident. I pulled over immediately, to retrieve the piece to try and determine what happened. Saw that it just snapped off and flew off without any notice.

Twice now, the front windshield defroster has malfunctioned. First time was late last winter and the car was undriveable due to almost no visibility out of the windshield (and it malfunctioned during my wife's daily commute). We had it repaired under warranty at the time. The same issue occurred again yesterday (2/27/2023) evening while commuting to my son's school. Due to inclement weather, visibility was extremely poor without the defroster and had to drive with the windows partly rolled down. As the vehicle is out of warranty now, the repair costs will be out of pocket. In a span of a year or less, this issue has occurred twice now.

2 separate occasions now, the passenger-side windshield wipers have broken off. This is apparently a common incident with some Audi vehicles due to poor manufacturing/design. Audi has not implemented a recall. This is a safety concern as the wipers have broken off while I was driving and could hit another vehicle!.

Assurant warranty claim number: [xxx] dear sir/madam: I am writing to you in hopes of finding a swift and satisfactory resolution since my Audi dealership-issued extended warranty claim is not being honored despite repeated efforts to resolve the issue. Incident: on Saturday, September 25, I was driving on route 42 when a pebble hit my front windshield and made a small crack underneath the rearview mirror. Action taken: we immediately reached out to report the issue, but being a weekend, received no response. We did not use the car again, but by the time someone responded to us on 9/28 - 3 days later! - the crack had spidered out from its original size. Details: when the crack appeared, we immediately called Audi fort washington (where I purchased my car) and left a voicemail for the service advisor and then called Audi cherry hill (closest dealer) and left a similar voicemail. Then we started to text on the Audi website but the response seemed to be a bot that did not lead us to a human contact. Meanwhile, while we have not used the car since the incident happened, the crack has spidered out on its own beyond the size of the initial crack! we continued to try calling Audi on Sunday 9/26 and on Monday 9/27 and still received no response! on 9/28 we finally heard from [xxx]f, who contacted the warranty company and reported back to us on 9/30, that it was denied because of the size of the crack. I explained how if this crack happened on a Tuesday and was immediately taken into the dealership it would have been covered, and it is not our fault that it happened on a weekend and no one responded when we immediately reached out - to several sources - several times! I spoke with assurant directly today on 9/30; they forwarded the information to process the claim. The replacement of the windshield and car rental should be covered under the warranty. My 2019 Audi Q7 has now gone through 4 winshields in 2 years. I drive an expressway to work and have never had a crack on any car before. I have read into this and other Audi Q7 owners are complaining of the same problem. The windshield is nearly $2000 to replace. I have appealed to Audi, they deny a problem. People can't just keep paying for these brittle windscreens on cars. Every time something touches the screen, it cracks or chips. I have included a pdf of claims, emails and photos of some of the over 20 cracks I have had.

I was driving in the rain with my wipers on, set on low when the passenger side wiper ejected itself and the wiper arm broke near the base. To keep my windshield from being scratched I had to turn my wipers off altogether forcing me to drive in the unsafe condition of poor visibility. There were no signs that the arm was about to break or the wiper was about to come off, they did so very suddenly.

While driving in moderate rain with the windshield wipers on, the passenger side windshield wiper flew off. I ordered a new passenger side windshield wiper and it worked for a month. Then the passenger side wiper froze during use, causing the driver side wiper to hit it.

The passenger side wiper broke in heavy rain. I called the company and they refused to fix because it is out of warranty even though this is a known and common problem.

Turned on the car and within a few minutes smoke filled up the whole car. The smoke was coming from the rear wiper from the inside. Seems to be coming from the wiper motor but can't tell until I take the plastic cover off. Started smoking immediately every time I turned the car on, tested it a total of 3 times. Strange caramel colored residue left on the back window from the inside. Smells terrible. The car was stationary the whole tome and parked in a neighborhood. Surprised a fire didn't start because of the amount of smoke. Some research on this saying some people had an actual fire inside the car.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Audi Q7. The contact's daughter stated while driving at unknown speed, when the radio stop functioning. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to local dealer premier automotive located at 2516 fort campbell blvd, hopkinsville, ky 42240, (270) 886-6144, where it was diagnosed with the sunroof drained into the amplifier and needing the sunroof drain to be restructured. The vehicle was under repairs at the moment. The manufacturer has been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 135,000. Dp.

Driving at night on the highway in rain with wipers on, the passenger side wiper arm snapped in half creating a dangerous situation. Remaining calm, drove to my destination where I saw the wiper arm snapped off.

On two different occasions the passenger side windshield wiper arm has snapped off during heavy rainstorms while driving within nyc's posted speed limit on the grand central parkway of 50 mph. The lack of visibility compromises my safety and others while operating the vehicle.

Vehicle was stationery in heavy rain. Turn windshield wipers on and within a few seconds passenger side wiper arm broke in half.

I was driving today on the highway and the windshield mechanism on my 2013 Audi Q7 snapped in half and flew off the car in heavy rains. Additionally, the only side affected by this is the passenger side windshield wiper; the driver side and back continue to work.

Passenger side wiper arm has broken 3 times. Arm and blade fall off when the wipers are operating in high speed.

Takata recall. Right passenger side wiper broke off while driving down a city street in greensboro nc. I had the wipers on the first setting in low intermittent mode. The wiper bowed up. It did not fly off my car thankfully because I was going about 45 mph. I was able to turn into a gas station and remove it and place it in my car. I am looking into trying to getting it repaired. I don't have to cost to replace it yet. This is a safety issue due to me not being able to see out of my windshield entirely. If the wipers were on full mode it could have flown off and struck another vehicle. The arms of these vehicles were poorly manufactured and there should be a recall and for those of us who had to pay to get it fixed should be reimbursed.

The fan blower failed, causing the windshield defroster to not work. The windshield became foggy with zero visibility while operating the vehicle. On 2 occasions in December, 2018. This is a serious safety issue that nearly resulted in a crash due to the inability to see. No pictures were taken as it would have been too unsafe to do so. Service was required to replace the blower assembly to correct the issue so it doesn't happen again.

My passenger windshield wiper flew off while I was driving on the highway. It was raining pretty hard and the automatic wipers were going pretty fast when suddenly it snapped off and flew behind me. This happened on may 17, 2018. The dealer I purchased the vehicle from replaced it with another Q7's wiper that was on their lot. This happened again on 11/06/2018. . . I was around the same area of the highway, it was raining and the wipers were going pretty fast. I was going about 50 miles per hour when it flew off again. I think this is very unsafe as the whole arms flies off which is made of heavy metal that can crack someone's windshield on the highway or even worse. There has to be something that can be done about this.

During a heavy rain, the two wipers locked each other up, the driver side moved down but the passenger side did not, cause the locked up, putting me in a very serious situation, luckily, it was a overpass near by and I stayed there until the rain was stopped. I took my car to the bluegrass Audi in louisville, kentucky to report the problem, but they told me that I have to pay for it because my car was out of warranty. I don't mind to pay for the repair, but this is a safety issue, someone may get injured or killed because of this defective from Audi.

While driving at highway speed's in a blinding rainstorm, the entire passenger windshield wiper arm broke and flew off the car into the traffic behind.

Passenger side wiper failed while driving in heavy rain. Appears many Audi Q7 owners experienced this failure. Not sure what the problem is. When wiper failed, I had family in my car and I lost visibilty on the highway and almost caused a serious accident and harm to my family for a recurring issue that needs to be resolved as it will happen again. The wipers were on and then all of a sudden the passenger wiper stops and becomes entagled with the driver side wiper breaking the driver side wiper because the driver side wiper continued to operate. Had I continued operating windshield wipers the driver side wiper arm would have snapped in half like other owners who have experienced the same problem. This could have caused possible death to others on highway due to wiper debris hitting other vehicle windshields and causing a major accident on the highway. In addition causing my loss of visibilty and crashing into highway object or another vehicle.

Passenger side wiper arm broke completely off while driving in the rain on a main street. It was in operation at the time of incident.

I was driving on a rainy night on a rural city street and the passenger wiper arm just broke off. I was kind of startled. I am positive that I didn't hit anything and I've several other complaints online of this happening to other Audi owners. This could be a major safety hazard if this was the hit someone while driving.

While driving and just about to turn in to the highway I was and using the wipers on medium speed the passsneger side wiper blade base snapped right off!!!! the wiper blade was fine but the metal arm just snapped! . I had to pull over to see what happened no got the wiper from the base of the hood and out right in the car to take it to Audi to have it fixed. Thank goodness it didn't fly off and hit someone else.

Driving on a causeway while raining and suddenly passenger side wiper arm broke. It made huge noise and thanks god it did not break the windsheild or hit anybody behind the wheel. Could have been worse. Seen several complaints on Audiworld forum but no remedy. I ordered one and replacing one now. But this windshield wiper system should have been recalled due to safety concern.

Two large windshield chipping in less than 3500 miles. Very bizarre considering the cost of the car. I own another vehicle, similar size (vw touareg 2012). It was hit many times and there are barely any marks left on the windshield. Is acoustic windshield (which my car is equipped with) less resistant to cracks and breaks?.

The passenger side windshield arm snapped off in the middle of driving under ordinary conditions at a slow speed. It flew off the vehicle.

The wiper arm broke off from the mounting assembly at the base. Conditions were medium rain. Temperature approximately 50 degrees (f). Driving at legal highway speed of 55 mph. There was no object collision. It simply snapped, leaving only the driver wiper functional.

The has been a lot of incident that an Audi Q7 right wiper blade can snapped off and can hit another car of person while driving in a highway. I was driving last night and luckily slowed down about to make a turn when all of a sudden my passenger wiper arm just snapped in half. If I was driving faster at that time, that could have went flying and hit another car behind me. The wiper arm is metal and the end where it snapped is sharp. When I search the internet, it seems like this is a common problem with this model car and Audi is not doing anything about it and waiting for someone to get hurt first. Wife pulled into garage on a stormy day and I was standing on passenger side with my 3 year old son. Passenger wiper arm snapped off and flew toward us and almost stabbed my 3 year old. At first I thought it was the wiper blade, but it was the whole entire arm. The broken end was sharpen like a knife blade.
