2 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Audi S5

Failure Date: 04/16/2026

Since the day of delivery, this 2025 Audi S5 has experienced daily electronic and safety system failures. At least once per day, on startup, the vehicle throws 10 or more warning codes disabling safety-critical systems including blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, forward collision avoidance, rear traffic alert, and adaptive lighting. These failures occur without warning and persist for varying durations before clearing on their own. Additionally, on 5 occasions the adaptive cruise control refused to activate, displaying a false "door open" warning with all doors and trunk confirmed closed. On 4 occasions the power trunk failed to latch using the electronic controls. The 360-degree parking camera system intermittently stops rendering surroundings, displaying only the vehicle graphic with no camera feed. The vehicle was brought to the selling dealer for service. After one hour, the dealer stated no issue was found. A battery diagnostic was requested based on a documented case of an identical 2025 S5 with the same symptoms traced to a faulty 12v battery. The dealer declined to cover the diagnostic under warranty. The service manager later acknowledged these are known platform issues and confirmed a software update is expected from the manufacturer in July 2026. The vehicle already has the latest available software update (TSB 2079690, kd2, version 03. 10. 00/c) installed and the problems persist. The dealer has confirmed there is no current fix available. These failures put the driver and other road users at risk, as safety systems are non-functional during the error state with no indication of when they will restore.

System malfunctions for new all new 2025 Audi S5 including drive system malfunction, loose wheel, brakes limited functionality, parking break malfunction, stabilization control malfunction, driving dynamics system malfunction, hold assist malfunction.

4 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Audi S5

Failure Date: 07/26/2025

Mmi - multi media interface constantly reboots about every 90 seconds. This is a safety issue since if I am backing up and the mmi reboots I lose the backup camera and when the mmi reboots I also lose collision/parking/proximity sensors. This issue started happening with my Audi on 7/26/25 and can be reproduced every time the ignition is on or car is running. From doing a quick search on the internet this is a very common problem that just started happening within the last few months with a number of 2020 model Audi's.

5 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Audi S5

Failure Date: 07/23/2025

I began my lease for a brand-new 2025 Audi S5 on July 14, 2025. The vehicle was delivered with a dent in the door, which the dealer repaired before I could take possession. The dent repair was completed on July 22, 2025, at which time I took delivery. On July 23, I informed my sales representative that the sos/ecall emergency communications system was not functioning. This safety feature, designed to automatically contact emergency services after a crash, has never worked since delivery. I returned the vehicle to the selling dealer on July 28, 2025. As of August 7, 2025, the vehicle remains in the dealer’s service department awaiting repair of the sos module. No firm completion date has been provided. This defect means the vehicle cannot automatically summon emergency assistance in the event of an accident, creating a significant safety risk to occupants.

6 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Audi S5

Failure Date: 07/18/2025

"the mmi spontaneously reboots numerous times while driving. When the reboots happen, the screen goes black and key systems such as the backup camera, rear obstacle detection, and navigation, become unavailable until the reboot completes and the systems reload. The reboots have affected other sensors/systems in the car like resetting my stored tire pressure values resulting in a tpms malfunction warning and blocking use of the sos call feature resulting in a sos system malfunction warning. Restoring functionality after the reboots requires user input to get through the loading screens. It’s been happening since I purchased the car less than a week ago. I’m unsure of how long the previous owner dealt with this issue. Factory resets prescribed by the dealer do not resolve this issue. This appears to be a widespread issue based on the numerous reports found on user forums online, affecting the same model year vehicles (for multiple examples, refer to [xxx] ). It is also interesting that most of the users experiencing this issue, also report it starting around the same time (Jan/Feb 2025), and they all have similar software versions, and likely production dates. This should be considered a safety issue, as the reboots can happen in the middle of a reverse parking maneuver, and they render the backup camera and obstacle detection sensors completely inoperative until the system reloads. They also impact safety on the highway, as the reboots completely disable the navigation screens, and require multiple user input to restore, while driving. Relevant TSB numbers include: TSB 2067021, TSB 2076404, TSB 2069112. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

7 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Audi S5

Failure Date: 07/15/2025

Main computer, multi media interface, mmi constantly shuts off and disconnects from system. This renders all backup cameras, traffic sensors and impact avoidance sensors inoperative. It also stops speedometer.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Audi S5

Failure Date: 07/15/2025

The mmi spontaneously reboots numerous times while driving. When the reboots happen, the screen goes black and key systems such as the backup camera, rear obstacle detection, and navigation, become unavailable until the reboot completes and the systems reload. The last few days this issue has gone from happening once or maybe twice a day to almost every single minute I am driving the vehicle. Completely unacceptable and dangerous! restoring functionality requires user input to get through the loading screens. The issue started in mid 2024 and the vehicle has been inspected by the Audi dealership (06/25), who verified the concern and attempted a factory reset (which did not solve the issue), and they continue to claim there's nothing they can do since their obd scans return no fault codes, even though there are numerous tsbs (filed with NHTSA) that point to available software updates that should be applied to address infotainment-related issues. . 9 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Audi S5

Failure Date: 07/13/2025

Audi mmi reboots constantly while the car is one. There is about 30 seconds between each reboot. This causes certain safety features like the backup camera to stop working when in use. I am not sure what the cause is but this seems to be a more common issue with the 2020 Audi's.

10 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Audi S5

Failure Date: 07/05/2025

Mmi system is failing, parking assist is malfunctioning, back up camera doesn’t activate, carplay turns off mid drive and reboots, navigation not working, car wants to brake at highway speeds as computer system malfunctions, bluetooth phone connection drops mid call, overall the computer infotainment system has failed.

11 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Audi S5

Failure Date: 06/25/2025

The mmi system reboots randomly throughout nearly every drive. This has happened when backing up causing a loss of access to backup cameras and sensors making me stop in the middle of the road.

12 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Audi S5

Failure Date: 06/18/2025

The mmi system will turn off, and reset, while driving. This occurs constantly, starting about two months ago. This causes the screen to go blank, and today I almost ran over a pedestrian as the system stopped while backing up. Luckily, I stopped, but was in cross traffic, and was not an ideal situation. This occurs, and I've tried using as a guest, instead of the user, and the same result occurs with the screen going blank while driving and the mmi system reboots.

13 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Audi S5

Failure Date: 06/16/2025

The radio (mmi system) is rebooting while driving every 5-10 min. Dealership can't fix and is affecting safety sytems like front and rear cameras/sensors.

14 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Audi S5

Failure Date: 06/05/2025

Regularly my mmi will restart, screen goes blank, comes back and says I'm not the registered user. Then bluetooth won't work and I get park aid errors and no rear cross traffic or anything. Happens at least 2 times each way to and from work ( 45min ). I usually have to hard reset it twice to get things normal and an ignition cycle to get park aid back.

15 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Audi S5

Failure Date: 05/19/2025

The mmi restarts constantly every day sometimes multiple times within minutes of each other. There is no correlation with other vehicle feature or functions that cause these restarts to happen and they are not in any specific pattern . When the mmi system reboots, the rearview camera and parking sensor display go dark, making parking and reversing unsafe, which directly impacts the functionality of the parking collision warning and rear cross traffic warning systems.

16 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Audi S5

Failure Date: 04/10/2025

The car stalled while driving on [xxx] while approaching express ezpass toll on [xxx]. The car stayed in the middle of the fast lane until the tow truck driver came and started the car. I cannot recall the yellow message on the dashboard that appeared as soon as the engine stopped. A yellow triangle with exclamation point and a car with exclamation point appeared on the dashboard. We called 911 and then aaa. Aaa on the phone instructed us to turn on and off the engine several times. The engine did not start until the tow truck driver came, opened the door and replaced me in the driver’s seat. He stepped on the brakes and pushed the start button as I did several times before but this time the car started as if nothing happened. We drove the car home. The Audi service checked the car on their first available appointment date, 4/14/25. Their report stated “scanned vehicle and found faults starter performance performed test plan and starter is working in good condition, inspected battery terminal and found then not tight enough, performed cleaning of both battery terminal and reinstalling them and after service was performed now vehicle is working as it designed to” the car had its 40k maintenance service on 9/4/2024. Mileage then was 32,869. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

17 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Audi S5

Failure Date: 03/05/2025

My 2020 S5 started randomly rebooting the mmi computer that controls all vehicle safety control features. The dealer claimed it was a software glitch caused by an update. They provided a software patch as a solution, but it continues to fail. The dealer says it's on Audi and there's nothing they can do, as the update/fix is corrupt. Audi is not being responsive, and this is an issue impacting many Audi vehicles.

18 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Audi S5

Failure Date: 03/01/2025

I own a 2020 Audi S5. The central infotainment screen (mmi) has been randomly restarting while driving. At first, it only happened occasionally, but the issue has gotten significantly worse. It now restarts every 5 to 10 minutes during normal driving. When the screen reboots, I temporarily lose access to important vehicle functions, including the backup camera, navigation, and Audio controls. This creates a safety concern, especially when reversing or relying on the screen for directions or alerts. Audi has not provided a permanent solution, and I’ve seen others report similar issues online. This seems like a widespread defect affecting visibility and driver safety.

19 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Audi S5

Failure Date: 05/13/2022

The emergency call module control unit has now failed for the second time. If the vehicle were to be involved in a crash, the system will not be able to automatically call for assistance. Vehicle is already subject to Audi service campaign 90t2 to reflash emergency call module control unit, however the unit in my vehicle could not be flashed due to it having intermittent errors. The local Audi dealer is stating the next available appointment to diagnose the issue is in three months. After diagnosis there may be a longer wait to obtain required parts. It is dangerous for a safety critical part like this to be out of action for at least 3 months. Audi should place a higher priority on repairing this issue.

20 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Audi S5

Failure Date: 09/04/2020

Hello - my 2016 Audi S5 coupe with a manual transmission has had an electronic steering rack error for some time now. The issue arose after driving in rainy conditions (but not in standing water). The steering rack in my car provides electronic assistance to my steering wheel movements while driving. The control module for the steering rack is located on the bottom car's motor with three electrical plugs for power and steering. These plugs are not weather proof. As a result my steering rack has been experiencing an issue and an error is present in the car's ecu. A quick search online about this issue shows the rack is widely used across multiple Audi platforms and has not been recalled or remedied by Audi.

21 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Audi S5

Failure Date: 08/28/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Audi S5. While driving various speeds, the seat belt warning chime continuously sounded even with the seat belt engaged and in use. The seat belt warning indicator also remained illuminated while driving. The contact drove the vehicle to Audi birmingham michigan (34602 woodward Ave, birmingham, mi 48009, 248-645-5930) where an appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 36,300.

22 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Audi S5

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

The car's backup camera feed has a lot of issues for many owners, myself included. There is a probably 10% chance of the backup camera not turning on when I first start the car each time. Lots of other owners are having similar issues on the a5/s5/rs5 platform from similar years. If you google the following: "site:a5oc. Com backup camera" you can see lots of threads from a forum dedicated to the above models. The failing backup cameras are dangerous since they intermittently fail. Sometimes I catch myself starting to reverse assuming the backup camera will come on but it never does. This issue has been happening for a while now. I will put an estimate for when it first appeared.

23 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Audi S5

Failure Date: 12/10/2018

The car's overall electronic reliability and safety are huge areas of concern. Rearview camera and sensors do not always work. Sometimes it will operate while car is in motion but it will black out which ultimately impairs the driver's ability to reverse and avoid any objects and pedestrians. This is potentially dangerous in high-foot traffic area like shopping mall. In addition, the car's lane assistance mechanism is not accurate at times and could have caused accidents several times. For example, the sensor sometimes will mis-detect the lanes and wrongly drift the car out of lanes, almost causing collision with oncoming cars or adjacent cars. Moreover, the Audi sensor which detects object and brakes for the driver doesn't work too well. For instance, when making a left turn at an intersection, it will mis-calculate the oncoming traffic and will brake and stall the car in the middle of intersection. Also, the Audi sensor wrongly detects the object around the car such as elevated sidewalk curbs or fire hydrants and it randomly auto-slam the brakes even while the car is moving at 30-40mph. The car was in the dealership repair shop at least 5 times to attempt to fix the issue. The dealership replaced the "mod box" twice, which seem to fix most of the sensor related issues but issues still arise and I am skeptical and afraid of driving this car.
