Car Stall problems of the 2013 Audi S6

Six problems related to car stall have been reported for the 2013 Audi S6. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2021

While driving vehicle stalled on craig and clayton street had to get it towed was told was lack of oil to turbos and turbos blew.

2 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2020

My turbochargers failed, which I understand is not uncommon with this engine. It was driving normally. I stopped for an errand and it restarted with great difficulty. I then drove some additional distance and it stalled in traffic. It stalled repeatedly whenever the rpm's fell below 2000. I ended up running a red light, to avoid slowing down, knowing it would stall. Fortunately, I was in an uncrowded area. It looks like Audi has already issued a technical service bulletin regarding the propensity for turbo failure. I would like to see more than that happen.

3 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2019

Having just exited the interstate and stopped at the end of the exit ramp, my 2013 Audi S6 started to stall as I was turning onto a secondary road. I managed to pull the car over to the side of the road before I lost all forward power, avoiding traffic in motion in proximity to my vehicle. The car would not restart after a check to insure things such as a proper amount of fuel was in the gas tank. After repeated attempts at starting the car failed, I had the S6 flat bedded to the nearest Audi dealer for repair. I spoke to the dealership several days after the incident and they diagnosed the problem as two failed turbochargers. The failure was attributed to the turbocharger oil screen clogging problem. I was told the replacement (parts + labor) would be in the $12,000+ range. I authorized the out of warranty repair as the car was in excellent and well maintained condition and I was not ready to scrap it. The dealer several days later informed me that Audi corporate had reviewed the failure and was willing to absorb 75% of the estimated repair bill as the S6 had just come out of warranty and had been properly dealer maintained. Several weeks later I was able to pick up the car with a payment due for repairs (after Audi 75% coverage) of $2674. 26 with the new turbos installed and the S6 was now running properly again. I now hesitate to use the car for any long trips on the highway due to concern I may have a recurrence of this turbo failure even though the car is being dealer serviced properly at the suggested intervals. Further, I believe this inherent problem has diminished the resale or trade-in value of this 2013 Audi S6. I was forced to rent a car for several days to return home after this failure which in total cost was $500+.

4 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2019

I was driving at approx 65mph on the highway when all of a sudden I lost significant engine power in my vehicle. I tried to accelerate and could not so I pulled over and the car immediately stalled and I had to have it towed to the repair shop. The issue is a result of the turbos in my vehicle are damaged. Mechanic said there is a known issue related to a screen that filters the oil that can get clogged overtime and cause oil starvation to the turbos increasing heat and ultimately causing failure. Audi has released a TSB for this fault with updated parts however these issues continue to plague vehicles like mine that have otherwise been taken care of. The repair costs for this could be upwards of $9k all because of a design flaw. Not to mention this could be dangerous if loss of power occurs on the highway which could cause an accident.

5 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2019

Turbo failure at 62,356 miles. Car has been into dealer for all required maintanence. Turbo failure occurred while driving on the highway with my family for a family gathering. Car went into limp mode and nearly stalled on the highway. I was able to pull off to a safe spot and there was an epc error on the dash. The car would not restart. Towed to dealer, and received a repair quote for more than 10k. I believe there are many other customers facing similar issues and Audi should look into this issue and cover the repairs. There is a TSB out from Audi regarding this. I have contacted Audi of America and waiting for a response from them for goodwill repairs.

6 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

Vehicle was in motion when it started shaking roughly. The car stalled and wouldn't turn back on. I had it towed home and was able to diagnose seized turbo compressors. Replaced the turbos which fixed the problem but at an enormous cost.
