I was driving hit a puddle of water, then all the sudden my power steering went out. I took it in to get looked at, and I'm being told it will cost several thousand dollars to fix the power steering. In addition, this vehicle has air in the suspension, but it now makes sounds when it lifts and takes a longer period of time to lift than normal. Something is effected in my suspension, as well. My vehicle only has 67,689 miles on it, and it should not be having power steering problems from driving through a puddle of water. Lastly, after calling in to Audi, they did a search for the warranty, and Audi did add an extended warranty on the power steering of 125,000 miles or 10 years, which ever occurs first. This means they know about the power steering issue, and with my car being just over 10 years old, the power steering is not covered. I also know a friend who has a 2015 S6 Audi with just under 125,000 miles on it. It happened to him, as well. I will let him know he needs to report the issue, because there is a clear power steering or electrical problem. I have no power steering as of now, and to me, this is a safety issue. I believe something electrical got shorted out which is causing the power steering to be manual steering and problems with suspension when lifting. I'm mainly concerned with the power steering going out with under 70k miles and it takes a lot of effort to drive this. I shouldn't be driving the car right now, but I have not choice at the moment.

Steering module went out for no apparent reason. I was able to find a used one and have it repaired for just under $1000. I had git two quotes for to auto shops that specialize in Audi repairs and they were both over $5300 to repair this steering module. This is unacceptable.

My 2020 Audi S6 has been undriveable since September 27, 2024 due to a backordered recall part (gateway control module). Audi has failed to provide a repair timeframe, making my car unusable for over five months. Audi has refused to provide a loaner vehicle despite the long delay. As of March 2025, there is no estimated time of arrival for the part, and Audi has not provided any alternative resolution. This recall renders the car inoperable, posing a serious financial and safety concern.

While driving my 2020 Audi S6, the vehicle suddenly lost power and completely shut off in the middle of the road without warning. There were no warning lights or messages beforehand. I was unable to accelerate or steer out of the way, which created a major crash risk for myself and other drivers. I had to have the vehicle towed to Audi of riverside for diagnosis and repair. The dealership confirmed the issue was related to recall 22v861 (gateway control module). I was never notified by Audi of this open safety recall prior to the incident. The problem was immediately confirmed by the dealership, and the vehicle has been in the shop since September 2024 — now over eight months — with no eta on parts from Audi and no resolution. During this time, Audi has not provided a loaner vehicle or rental support. I’ve continued to pay my monthly car note for a car I cannot use and have spent hundreds of dollars per month on uber and alternate transportation to get to work. Audi issued a $3,000 goodwill check, but that does not begin to cover my actual out-of-pocket costs. I also previously requested a vehicle buyback, which was denied. This is a serious safety defect that caused a dangerous on-road failure, and the manufacturer has failed to provide a timely or adequate remedy. The issue has been confirmed by the dealership, and the vehicle is still not repaired or returned to me. I’m requesting immediate investigation and enforcement regarding this unresolved recall and the unreasonable delay in resolution.
First off ket me start by saying the vehicle has 45k miles on it. There were no fault codes or system errors prior to the issue that developed. I was driving to a meeting in heavy rain, no issues or suspicion of issues arising. I parked the car, returned about 2 hours later started the car to find 6 warnings on the dash (tpms fault, acc disabled, steering disabled, air ride control disabled esc disabled and a few more. Notably was the steering, it had a red light and the steering wheel was very hard to turn. The vehicle couldnt be driven. After having the computer scanned the issue was the electronic steering rack. See codes below. This is very unfortunate and strange that it came out of nowhere especially to fail this way. The vehicle is available for inspection until the part is replaced. While driving with my wife and kids, on the highway, in the rain a warning message was displayed. The warning stated: steering malfunction, please stop the vehicle!. At which point the power steering locked-up & the engine powered down. As a result, I was unable to steer the vehicle. Thankfully, I was able to “muscle” the car off the highway and onto a secondary roadway. Vehicle was towed. With the power steering locking-up and not being able to effectively steer the vehicle this is a huge safety issue and needs to be addressed with Audi. This could have ended tragically if it were to happen to a driver who was unable to “muscle” the vehicle to safety.

With only 53,000 miles on my 2013 Audi S6 both turbo charges failed and Audi is now charging me $9,000 to replace both turbo charges which are supposed to last 100,000 to 125,000 miles. This issue occured while on the road idling at a light and caused the car not to be able to start and to shake the vehicle violently.

This was a low mileage (9k) less than 1 year old pristine condition Audi S6. The vehicle was driven approximately 10 miles and then parked in a driveway where it was turned off. The driver sat in the vehicle for 5 minutes with the engine off prior to exiting the vehicle. Between 5 to 10 minutes after exiting the vehicle we smelled smoke in the house. We discovered the vehicle had flame and smoke emanating from under its hood. The fire department had to extinguish the flames as we were unable to do so with a garden hose. The entire front of the vehicle burned. It was classified as totaled. The vehicle was inspected by a fire cause and origin inspector and Audi. I have been told verbally that the fire likely began in some electrical components behind the driver side headlight area. Audi has confirmed that the fire was not caused by external factors but I have not been provided any other feedback from Audi as to what the actual defect. Was. Just to re-cap: 1. The ignition was off 2. The car was not running 3. The car spontaneously caught fire and was destroyed. 4. It was raining that day 5. The car was in like-new condition, well maintained and with no known defects. 6. We were lucky the car was not in the garage as the house would have caught fire.
I am having a major safety issue with my car and it seems like Audi of America (aoa) does not seem to really care. It all started in Aug 2015 and a bunch of fault codes came one. The second time, I believe, was Jan 2016 and I was driving on I-95 and suddenly about 5 fault codes showed up while I was driving. I was traveling about 70mph in the middle lane. The car's steering stiffened up and I could not accelerate. Luckily no one was next to me and I was able to pull off to the shoulder. This could have been a major catastrophe if I was not able to pull over with the amount of traffic there is on I-95 including lots of semi-trucks. I turned the car off and turned it on and I slowly drove home. I also drive this car with my newborn in it everyday. I called my local dealership and flat bedded the car to them. They saw the fault codes and were obviously concerned so they talked to someone at aoa. They ended up changing a module and assured me that it was fixed. Well on June 8, 2016 it happened again. Again I was lucky because I was on back roads with no traffic. However, I did happen to have my newborn with me! I am furious because his life is in jeopardy now. I immediately call aoa instead of the dealership this time and they opened up a case. Aoa said to flatbed the car again to your local dealership. After 3 days, the dealership tells me there is a ground fault with the car. Aoa called me and said they fixed it but this is what they "assured" me of last time. I believe there is a serious issue with that car and no one should drive it. I do not want to jeopardize my life, my newborns life, or anyone else's life. Aoa will not change my car for a new car. It seems to me they want to risk having a lawsuit against them should anyone get injured or die if this happens a third time. I want out of this vehicle. Mileage shows it happening 3 times. Car will under factory warranty.
