1 Steering problem of the 2014 Audi S6

Failure Date: 06/05/2025

I was driving hit a puddle of water, then all the sudden my power steering went out. I took it in to get looked at, and I'm being told it will cost several thousand dollars to fix the power steering. In addition, this vehicle has air in the suspension, but it now makes sounds when it lifts and takes a longer period of time to lift than normal. Something is effected in my suspension, as well. My vehicle only has 67,689 miles on it, and it should not be having power steering problems from driving through a puddle of water. Lastly, after calling in to Audi, they did a search for the warranty, and Audi did add an extended warranty on the power steering of 125,000 miles or 10 years, which ever occurs first. This means they know about the power steering issue, and with my car being just over 10 years old, the power steering is not covered. I also know a friend who has a 2015 S6 Audi with just under 125,000 miles on it. It happened to him, as well. I will let him know he needs to report the issue, because there is a clear power steering or electrical problem. I have no power steering as of now, and to me, this is a safety issue. I believe something electrical got shorted out which is causing the power steering to be manual steering and problems with suspension when lifting. I'm mainly concerned with the power steering going out with under 70k miles and it takes a lot of effort to drive this. I shouldn't be driving the car right now, but I have not choice at the moment.

2 Steering problem of the 2015 Audi S6

Failure Date: 03/03/2025

Steering module went out for no apparent reason. I was able to find a used one and have it repaired for just under $1000. I had git two quotes for to auto shops that specialize in Audi repairs and they were both over $5300 to repair this steering module. This is unacceptable.

3 Steering problem of the 2018 Audi S6

Failure Date: 12/06/2023

First off ket me start by saying the vehicle has 45k miles on it. There were no fault codes or system errors prior to the issue that developed. I was driving to a meeting in heavy rain, no issues or suspicion of issues arising. I parked the car, returned about 2 hours later started the car to find 6 warnings on the dash (tpms fault, acc disabled, steering disabled, air ride control disabled esc disabled and a few more. Notably was the steering, it had a red light and the steering wheel was very hard to turn. The vehicle couldnt be driven. After having the computer scanned the issue was the electronic steering rack. See codes below. This is very unfortunate and strange that it came out of nowhere especially to fail this way. The vehicle is available for inspection until the part is replaced. 4 Steering problem of the 2016 Audi S6

Failure Date: 06/16/2022

While driving with my wife and kids, on the highway, in the rain a warning message was displayed. The warning stated: steering malfunction, please stop the vehicle!. At which point the power steering locked-up & the engine powered down. As a result, I was unable to steer the vehicle. Thankfully, I was able to “muscle” the car off the highway and onto a secondary roadway. Vehicle was towed. With the power steering locking-up and not being able to effectively steer the vehicle this is a huge safety issue and needs to be addressed with Audi. This could have ended tragically if it were to happen to a driver who was unable to “muscle” the vehicle to safety.

5 Steering problem of the 2018 Audi S6

Failure Date: 11/30/2017

I purchased the vehicle on 11/18/2017; on 11/21/2017 a dead battery caused the vehicle not to start. On the 11/22/2017 after charging the vehicle battery over 20 hours the vehicle started; however the vehicle displayed several warnings: steering system fault, dynamic stability, adaptive suspension, adaptive lights, etc. . . The vehicle was delivered to Audi service department and it was determined that the steering angle sensor was malfunctioning; which is directly linked to steering system fault. The vehicle was delivered to me by a member of the sales team on 11/30/2017 stating the vehicle was repaired and clear of any issues. However, the steering system fault returned within hours after the delivery while driving westbound on I-565 and the active lane assistance engaged making it difficult to steer the vehicle. I was able to disengage the active lane assistance, however the vehicle steering became increasingly more difficult to steer. After picking up my children form school, the vehicle steering wheel nearly seized up making it almost impossible to steer the vehicle safely. I had to very aggressively muscle the steering wheel in hopes of controlling the vehicle to maneuver the car without anything or being hit. I had no real control over the vehicle. My children and I were very fortunate; blessed even that we were are still alive to talk about this incident.

6 Steering problem of the 2013 Audi S6

Failure Date: 06/08/2016

I am having a major safety issue with my car and it seems like Audi of America (aoa) does not seem to really care. It all started in Aug 2015 and a bunch of fault codes came one. The second time, I believe, was Jan 2016 and I was driving on I-95 and suddenly about 5 fault codes showed up while I was driving. I was traveling about 70mph in the middle lane. The car's steering stiffened up and I could not accelerate. Luckily no one was next to me and I was able to pull off to the shoulder. This could have been a major catastrophe if I was not able to pull over with the amount of traffic there is on I-95 including lots of semi-trucks. I turned the car off and turned it on and I slowly drove home. I also drive this car with my newborn in it everyday. I called my local dealership and flat bedded the car to them. They saw the fault codes and were obviously concerned so they talked to someone at aoa. They ended up changing a module and assured me that it was fixed. Well on June 8, 2016 it happened again. Again I was lucky because I was on back roads with no traffic. However, I did happen to have my newborn with me! I am furious because his life is in jeopardy now. I immediately call aoa instead of the dealership this time and they opened up a case. Aoa said to flatbed the car again to your local dealership. After 3 days, the dealership tells me there is a ground fault with the car. Aoa called me and said they fixed it but this is what they "assured" me of last time. I believe there is a serious issue with that car and no one should drive it. I do not want to jeopardize my life, my newborns life, or anyone else's life. Aoa will not change my car for a new car. It seems to me they want to risk having a lawsuit against them should anyone get injured or die if this happens a third time. I want out of this vehicle. Mileage shows it happening 3 times. Car will under factory warranty.
