Turn Signal problems of the 2001 BMW 325

Five problems related to turn signal have been reported for the 2001 BMW 325. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Turn Signal problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2013

Pin number 3 on the taillight bulb housing begins to melt at the connection point causing any number of things to happen with the electrical system. You may experience flickering headlights, loss of taillight function, loss of turn signal function, or electrical fire.

2 Turn Signal problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2012

Right side tail lights failed in the manner described in NHTSA campaign id number: 11v438000. This vehicle was manufactured in 2000-10-30 and that campaign applies to vehicles manufactured after 09-2001.

3 Turn Signal problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2012

The contact owns a 2001 BMW 325i. The contact stated that the headlights failed and would flash on and off sporadically. The dealer advised the contact that the rear tail light bulb carrier failed and caused the headlights to fail. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure and the current mileage was 207,000. Updated 02/15/12 the consumer referenced recal # 11v438000. The right rear tail light bulb was replaced. Updated 04/18/12.

4 Turn Signal problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2011

The contact owns a 2001 BMW 325i. The contact was driving 35 mph when the rear driver's side brake light and turn signals failed. The failure recurred numerous times. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number: 11v438000 (exterior lighting:brake lights) and the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis however he was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the issue but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The failure and current mileages were 112,000.

5 Turn Signal problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

Rear left turn signal blinking fast indicating bad bulb but all bulbs are good. Rear left turn signal bulb has a lower luminous intensity than the other bulbs. Replacing the bulb with a new bulb makes not difference. Right turn signal intermittently blinks fast indicating a bad bulb but all bulbs are working.
