1 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2016

Takata recall. . . . I am driving in an unsafe vehicle due to drivers airbag recall and no parts are available to fix the problem. This is not a good feeling. I worry each time I get in my car and drive. The local dealership said no parts and no loaner vehicles. So I drive and worry. Someone pulled out in front of me on 4-22-16 and I barely missed their car and thought how awful this could have turned out, if I had hit them, t-boning them, my airbag would have opened and injured me and/or killed me. I get home and called the dealership because I never heard from them since last July's first recall when they told me I would get a notification when parts where available. Still no parts, I don't want to drive my car. I am a victim of "worry". The dealership service rep. Was not very concerned nor helpful. She must be not driving a car with a "driver's side airbag that is defective" and unsafe.

2 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2016

Takata recall - 15v318 it has been just over 7 months since I received the recall notice from BMW for the drivers-side airbag recall. I have been on a waiting list since it came out, but there are still no available parts. There also is no interim remedy. At this point, I feel the vehicle is undrivable due to the possibility of metal fragments coming through the driver's airbag. This has caused a lot of issues with my household, and is causing un-due wear on my other vehicle, as well as costing much more money for things like fuel and maintenance. I am having to drive hundreds of extra miles every week, along with having to jump through numerous scheduling hoops. I asked about any kind of a loaner/rental car provided via BMW, and I was told no, there is no such thing. After 7 months, there needs to be some kind of resolution, even if it is a temporary one (are there temporary airbags of some sort? something that makes the car safe again, at least until the permanent parts come in?). Even with all of the issues, I still feel I am one of the "lucky few" with this recall that has a second vehicle. I can not imagine how things would work out if the only car I had could send shrapnel at me in the even of an accident. Something needs to happen. Even if it's temporary. 7 months of no progress is far too long, even in a recall of this scale.

3 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

I have received two separate recalls for airbag replacements on my car. The first was the passenger airbag and that recall was received in 2014. It took several months before I was able to have my front passenger airbag replaced. In July this year I have received a recall saying that I now need to replace the driver side airbag which describes the same risk: ". . . Resulting in metal fragments striking the front driver or other passengers potentially resulting in serious injury or death. " if BMW has created a car that could potentially result in my injury or death, should it not be reasonable for the problem to be fixed immediately? should it not be reasonable that I am given a loaner BMW at their expense (including insurance) while they fix this potentially life threatening problem with my car? why two separate recalls? why did they not fix both airbags at the same time? why does it take months to address this problem? how many potentially preventable serious injuries or deaths have occurred as a result?.

4 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

I got a recall letter on July 2015 of my drivers side airbag being defective. I already had to have the passenger side replaced because of recall. It took 7 months to get it replaced. I'm totally scared and anxious to drive my car. I saw someone get burned from an airbag recently and am super super scared to drive my car. Ive called a couple times and they say they do not have the part in stock. Can't anything be done?.

6 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2015

I received a recall notice in 2015 for replacement of driver side air bag. As of this date 10/15/16 BMW has not yet notified me of when they will notify me that I can bring my car to dealer to have drive side air bag replaced. Calls to BMW in in June 2016 said to wait until July, calls in July said to wait until August, calls in August said perhaps by October or end of 2016. . . Calls to the BMW dealer I use vary -one time they say make an appointment to bring the car in,next call they say that they have no airbags. . . My question(s) to the NHTSA is "will BMW ever replace the airbag" and is dependent on whether I use a BMW dealership for maintaining my BMW. ???. . . I would also like to note that some colleagues with other types have cars have been not to drive their car until the air bag is replaced and some dealers have actually provided a rental car for them until air bag is replaced. . . . Also my wife has a 2013 Acura rdx, and while I believe that year was not affected by the airbag recall, her Acura dealership actually replaced her driver side air bag after just a few month wait. . . . I have been waiting for almost 17 months for BMW ro notify me that I can bring my car in for air bags. . . . And I do not quite understand why the BMW dealership keeps changing their story on the availabiltiy of replacement air bags your help and attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

7 Side/window Air Bag problem

The contact owns a 2003 BMW 325i. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer to have repairs performed under NHTSA campaign number: 14v428000 (air bags). The contact noticed that the dealer did not complete the repair in which the left side of the dashboard was not flush. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who stated that the repairs were completed and that the components shifted. The contact was also included in NHTSA campaign id number: 15v318000 (air bags) but the part needed was not available to remedy the repair. The dealer did not provide a date that the drivers side air bag module would become available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

8 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2013

Vehicle was struck on driver side by pickup truck darting out from intersecting side street. Truck was going aprox. 10-15 mph. BMW aprox. 20-25mph. This was a side t-bone collision, no side airbags deployed. BMW driver sustained minor injuries to head, face, chest, neck, shoulder. Substantial damage to BMW left side.

9 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2011

My 2003 BMW 325i sedan was t-boned on drivers side doors, and sent across the intersection and smashed into utility pole on rear passenger side with enough force to bend the frame. No side or curtain air bags deployed. Other driver ran a red light at about 40 mph and never hit the brakes. My head slammed to the top of the driver's door where an air bag should have been, causing swelling and numbness to this day. The door slammed into my entire left side where the air bag in the door should have been. I was wearing a seat belt. The car is totaled. BMW is sending an engineer to examine the car in a few days.

10 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2010

I was driving my 2003 BMW 325xi when the driver side airbags deployed suddenly. I do not believe that I hit anything and I did not see any damage on the vehicle when I inspected the car after the deployment. BMW inspected the car and found some damage underneath the car and claimed that this damage caused the deployment. However, I am almost certain that this damage did not occur at the time of the deployment. BMW was not interested in further investigating my case and stuck with the conclusion that the minor damage found underneath the car caused the airbags to deploy.

11 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2006

My wife was in a serious accident on 07/07/06. Her 2003 325i BMW was hit on the drivers side by a SUV that jumped over the median, totaling the car. We contacted BMW of north America and reported that none of the air-bags deployed. We are very concerned. We also to this date have not received any information from BMW.

12 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2005

Dt: the contact owns BMW and while driving down the highway both driver side air bags deploy and there was not an accident. The two air bags that deployed was one of the side above the window and the one at the arm rest. He contacted BMW and they want him to sign a statement pretty much telling him to keep his mouth shut and not to report the deployment or his injuries to anyone. If he signs the statement they told him they would give him a replacement car. The deployment of the air bag caused injury to the driver of the vehicle and he says this is a safety problem that he wanted to report.

13 Side/window Air Bag problem
