69 problems related to warning light on have been reported for the 2006 BMW 325. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I was backing up at 4 mph and pressed the break to stop. The airbag and seatbelt warning light went on. It continued to stay on and has not turned off since. There was no one in the car other than myself as the driver. I have had the car into the mechanic twice now to fix the issue and the lights and warnings still come on. I called the dealership and they say my VIN is not on the recall list. I have researched the issue and found that many owners of the same year, make, and model are having the same issues. Is there any way to get my car VIN added to the recall list?.

This issue seems to match the BMW recall listed updated 12/16/11 NHTSA campaign id number: 08v384000 NHTSA action number: ea08001 according to BMW, this vehicle does not fall under the VIN numbers that were under the recall but the problem does seem to match the same issues that warranted the initial recall on July 18, 2008.

Air bag warning light started to come on with no apparent cause. I took the car to the dealer, and was told that the mat in the passenger seat had failed and needed to be replaced, and that it was a safety issue. Cost was over $1,100 plus tax. I now see that there is a recall for 2006 325xi models with sport seats -- my car does not have sport seats, but had the exact same problem. I am an owner of a 2006 BMW 325i with approximately 70k miles. Just recently, I noted that warning lights indicating failure of the air bag/supplemental restraint system. I took my vehicle to a local mechanic who indicated that the failure code was tied to an inoperable passenger detection mat. He went on to indicate that there was a documented recall/warranty extension related to this issue. I contacted my local BMW dealer who told me that the recall/warranty did not apply to my vehicle as it was manufactured after November 30th, 2005. I am filing this complaint as it is evident that the scope of their recall was not sufficient to cover all cars with this issue, as I have noted many other complaints similar to mine. I feel it is incumbent upon NHTSA to push for expansion of this remedy as BMW is clearly derelict in its obligation to address significant safety issues with its products.

BMW says my VIN doesn't qualify, however my car still obviously has a problem, and BMW is in denial. I've also noted other complaints on safetycar. Gov with similar BMW interactions. BMW is avoiding responsibility, and the NHTSA needs to do more to protect our safety.

I have a 2006 BMW 3 series that had a defective seat mat sensor. This defect led to the following indications in the vehicle: overhead air bag warning light illuminated, the red airbag light on the instrument panel illuminated, and the system check window (digital display between tachometer and speedometer) indicated a fault with the airbag. There is an active recall on this failure for 2006 3 series with sport seats, campaign number 08v384000. However, my vehicle's VIN number is not included on the list that NHTSA and BMW negotiated. BMW has denied my request to fix this problem at their cost. My vehicle is affected by the exact same problem that 200,000 other BMW?s had. There is a precedent for failure with the seat mat sensor. The cost to the consumer to correct this threat to safety is approximately $1400. Nhtsa should expand this recall list to cover all vehicles affected by this problem. This is a safety issue and the cost burden should not be passed on to the consumer in this case.

Front passenger air bag warning light illuminates and warning signals sound every time a passenger sits in the front passenger seat, regardless of occupant size. This results in the passenger air bag being deactivated. This has been reported to BMW of fort myers (two occasions in person in 2009 and 2010) and BMW (via their online customer email system two times in 2010 and 2011). Neither party is willing to check the system or repair it even though the NHTSA website indicates (1) BMW recalled 200,000 vehicles with this issue and (2) BMW has extended the warranty to 10 years without any mileage limit. I need NHTSA's assistance in getting BMW to review and fix this issue similarly to the hundreds of thousand of other cars they have recalled.
