My 2003 BMW 325i wll not unlock. I cant get into the car. I have tried the key and the fob and the doors will not unlock. I had to break the window to get into the car only to find out the doors still will not unlock. This is a safety issue you cant unlock the doors from the inside or the outside. This is extremely concerning and a true safety issue.
The oil filter housing gasket fails on BMW cars. It is a mesh gasket between the engine and the block where the oil enters/exits the filter. The repair is about $600 and fails frequently on these cars. It causes oil to leak onto the block and gives a strong burning oil smell. Oil can accumulate on top of the engine depending on the severity of the leak. Oil blows and covers the oil filter housing and the inside of the hood with a spray of sticky oil.
I have had three separate instances in a nine month period starting in may of 2010 of alloy wheels cracking on my 2006 BMW 325xit, which has run flat tires. The dealer said it is from hitting pot holes, curbs, or parking blocks. I find this to be very unusual as I live in a warmer state where there are very few pot holes, and I have not hit a curb or parking block. Moreover, in thirty-three years of driving, I have never had a single wheel crack on any car that I owned. I also own a 2002 BMW (that does not have run flats) and have never had a wheel crack on it. A review of the internet reveals complaints by BMW owners with run flat tires experiencing repeated wheel cracks. It appears that the run flat tires may not compatible with the wheels. Yet, nothing has been done by BMW to recall or correct the problem. This is a very dangerous situation and very expensive with the wheels costing $345 each to replace.
Front passenger seat belt light and airbag light stay on even when a passenger is seated in car. BMW diagnosed a problem with the passenger seat occupancy mat. This is the same problem as the 2008 recall, but my model is not included in the recall. I spoke with the office of the president of BMW who says that they are not responsible since my car was not involved in the recall. They said it is a different part that was responsible for the mat not working properly. I feel that since my car has the same safety problem, even if it is a different part, it should be fixed by BMW without cost to me.
I purchased a used BMW 325ci 18 months ago. In the first six months of driving the car the ac/heater worked fine. However, over time the blower has become intermittent and now ceases to work completely on hot days. Searching online I found that this problem was common to many BMW drivers of similar makes and models. Mechanics posting online have attributed it to a faulty final stage resistor for the blower module. They state that the metal was made of inferior quality. I intend to attempt to repair this myself or take it to a mechanic but the estimates I have received so far are about $300 for total repairs. Last winter my car broke down when it was very cold outside and I had to wait for an hour and a half for a tow truck to arrive, during this time I tried to turn on my heater only to have it cease to work after about 5 minutes. Fortunately I had emergency clothing in the car, but even with that my fingers were numb by the time the tow truck arrived. I think BMW should offer to replace this part for free.
While driving my 2006 BMW 325i on the freeway at about 50 mph a small object such as a bottled water bottle or something similar hit the front bumper of my car and rolled underneath the car where I drove over it. There was no damage to the exterior of my car yet the seat belt light and the airbag light came on the dashboard. I took my car to the BMW dealer where I was told that the "accident indicators" had fired and I would have to have the receiver of my seat belt replaced at a cost of $350 despite there being no damage to the car and this being what I consider a common driving occurrence.
The dealer switched the price of the car after I gave him cash money. The dealer misrepresented the condition of the car after I paid cash for the car. The dealer wrote as is on the receipt, the dealer kept the title. The dealer stole the car I drove there and wants $30 per day storage for my own car he moved. I never signed anything.
