One problem related to clutch pedal/linkage has been reported for the 1996 BMW 328. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Plastic pivot for clutch release lever failed, causing distortion of diaphragm spring, causing failure of clutch to engage. I believe this plastic part that failed is new in the 328i series.
