general problems of the 2007 BMW 328

We where sitting in our car me my wife and our 6 month old son it was running and out of no where lots of smoke started coming out from under the hood I didn't know what it was so I turned the car off got my wife and son out and away from the car then I opened the hood and soon as I did all I could see was flames I ran and got water and started throwing it on the fire till it was out this was the only car we had now it is ruined we missed our sons doctors appointment and I have not been able to make it to work.

There is a manufacturer recall - NHTSA recall number22v119 this affects the pcv valve heater, which may not have been produced to specifications which could lead to a short circuit. I was advised a remedy was available to fix this defect, brought my car to the BMW dealership of greenwich/mamaroneck service department located at 110 midland avenue, port chester, on 8/4/2022 at 9:45 a. M. I was told this would be completed that same day. I was not given a loaner and have no other means of transportation, but to date, a full day plus later, my car has not been returned nor repaired and I have received no return phone calls from my assigned service person, reinaldo cruz regarding its status. I have emailed and called him both without success.

Possible class action law suit knowingly neglect, mislead, purposely avoiding known recall & obvious risks of possible life / property lost 08/2012, nys bear mt parks camp ground unknown reason low battery resulted locked steering, stranded tow $450 /park+$450 tow truck to shop e141st bronx friend a westchester BMW dealer mechanic 1988~2019 (will testify): official instruction to replace steering column $2000-3000 job, replaced on the street, can't start w dealer computer+ $300 towed to bronx BMW specialist & reset/ started for $450 2012 not much info online as my VIN isn’t on the recall list, I was not aware of the other identical recalled issue til it happened again in 2015(?2016, can confirm w the NY westchester BMW dealer parts receipt) paid another $2000+ much nightmare only to realized the issue can easily be reset by any mechanic computer then restarted. BMW dealer still maintain its instruction to their dealer mechanic to replace knowingly hiding the fact that it should have been recalled & avoided 2016 (have receipt) at 70k miles transmission rebuilt, specialist said broken fragments of gears resulting in irreparable damages 2017 corroded fuse box nr passenger side replaced $680 2019 after stopping, car barely cranks over & white smoke observed under hood in front of passenger waited 30 minute to start days later car won’t start, the wire leading to fuse burnt off, lost all power $300 tow home +$350 replace wire $4580 since 2020 low battery all year, car sluggish due to sudden lost of power. 2021 engine shaking violently, drives shaky & unstable jerks, pulled over towed $280 steering lock symbol shown car on driveway realized my VIN was not included in this 2013 recall of 570,000 cars for the same defect numerous reported urgent life/ property threats to highway safety for years: sudden lost of power (no hazard light) on left lane of highways entire car engulfed in flames in minutes w toddlers inside car barely escaping air bags popping while in motion. .

Shutters all the time even after coils replaced. Engine line comes on and misfires. Wiring all messed up especially headlights and seats. Abs light won't go off.

The back window won't roll up and the plastic motor has broken.

I am having a no start, no crank problem, new battery, remove starter, checked ok, fuses, ok. Repair cable but code sill appear, month later n start or crank. This week brought new cable it detonated. Had car towed and now at home. Owned this car since July 2018 and totally upset. This is my second BMW and I love it. I am no sure but I believe the car was in an accident before I brought it.

Takata recall - I have had two separate major issues with this vehicle since I purchased it in may 2018. Over a month ago , my car started to make a loud squealing noise while idled at stop light and would ease up when I would accelerate. My engine was shaking so badly that I could feel it with my foot on brake petal. My roommate heard the squealing noise from inside my house and came out to see what was wrong. Entire engine was shaking as if something was not on properly. Happened one other time since while coming back from work. Second major issue occurred while on the way to work Monday morning - I was making a semi sharp right turn off ruffin mill road in chester and my �service engine soon� light immediate came on and the car went from 35mph to 0 - my car felt as if I couldn't turn the wheel and engine stopped. I cut the car off then back on - light went away and I was able to drive. Less than 5 minutes later, I was coming to a stop light, about to turn left and the same thing happened. Cut car off then back on and it was okay. I have had a lot of issues with this car and even had to get brand new starter two weeks after purchase. Attachment shows all issue with car given to me by mainentance.

Steering wheel has locked and will not turn. The vehicle was stationary.

Driver side light continue to go out. . . Smoke coming from under the hood on start up periodically smell of burning plastic pulled over to turn turned the car off . Noticed white smoke coming from center console. . . Random warning light indicated on display. Car keeps jumping into lag mode.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 BMW 328xi. The contact stated that the only door that opened is the driver side door from the outside and inside. The passenger and two back doors have seized. The vehcile has not been taken to a dealer; diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact to go to a dealer to have it diagnosed. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000. Jc.

Car had been parked in driveway for about 10 minutes after being driven for less than a mile. Then it went up in flames. Not totally sure what caused this, but I see that there are two safety recalls/alerts posted in oct 2010 that could result in this. We were never notified. This car was very well maintained and we certainly would have taken care of the problem if we had known it existed.

I called the BMW errhard in farmington hills, mi and I was told they don't have the parts yet and it could be a year. I've had electrical problems for a year and hope this can be taken care of ASAP.

Regard of BMW safety recall of #17v-676 and #17v-683. We would like report that our car had happened: air flow controller for the heating system doesn't blow hot air (just cold air) after about 40 mins drive in winter time but the area around and under selector, ashtray is very hot while keep driving on highway. This was happened 4 -5 years ago and never go away, always there!.

There are two outstanding (for which I have received written notices) defects on the car. I got these in November of 2017. I have called BMW several times to get a status and they have, on each occasion, told me that they were not yet able to resolve the problems. It is now 10 months later. It seems that this is longer than one should have to wait for items that demand written notification of defects. So, I am writing to ask you to assist in getting these recall items addressed. Thank you.

The two recalls on my vehicla have been in interim phase since October of 2017. I personnaly know someone who has the same recalls and their parts have caught on fire. I want my vehicle repaired ASAP.

I'm having trouble with my sensor systems. Not able to pass smog. Also my door handles have melted from some heat when my car is extremely hot. These are some of the other problems I'm having.

While I'm driving it popped up a red steering wheel/padlock symbol at the message center, still drives with no issues. I'm concerned if it is safe to drive back home, it's about one hour drive.

Why driving my car it suddenly lost power and stopped. I had to maneuver my car off the road and restart it. It started back up immediately but I drove maybe another mile and it did the same thing. I panicked turned around and drove back home. I will. Be at the dealership in montgomery, al first thing Monday morning 10/31/2016.

While parking the car at 5 mph experienced unintended acceleration and crashed into a concrete block wall 8 feet in distance. The airbag deployed and the car was a total loss.

Battery cable connector went bad in our car. This was recalled by BMW for our type of car but our VIN was not included in the recall forcing us to pay out of pocket. This is a safety issue and cost us over 300. 00 to repair.

The bridgestone tires that are standard on my BMW 328i are stressed with bubbles forming on the sidewalls. My 2007 BMW has had all the tires replaced as a result of bubbles or blowouts. The most recent was Wednesday, June 24th. I tire was leaking air and found to be damaged. I barely made it back to BMW dealer 3. 2 miles away from where it happened. When they inspected the car they found another tire that had a bubble formed on it causing a failed va inspection. March 2014, the tire blew out on I-95 in GA. The car was flat bed towed to savannah where the tire was replaced. Again caused by bubbles formed on the sidewall. Over the eight years I have had the car, I have replaced the 8 tires due to bubbles. The car has 31,115 miles on it. I take extra care of the car. This is a safety issue and needs to be addressed by bridgestone and BMW. I have repeatedly tried to discuss this with the companies but they give me the run around and blame each other. Bridgestone said that BMW built the car to low to the ground. BMW says they don't make tires. This is serious.

Car is shaking.

Riding down the highway and a warning light comes on stating steering wheel locked, so I pulled off the road and turned the power off to read up on the warning lights, I got a locked steering wheel and car would not start.

Upon starting the car there was a rapid sound of the door locks, locking and opening several times and then stopped. The drivers door was locked and could not be opened from inside or outside. Checked all the fuses but none were blown. After online research did replace the #57 fuse with a 20 amp vs 15 as suggested but still not working. If you mess with it long enough it will unlock but the other doors will be locked. If I were to be in an accident and this happened , myself or the other occupants may not be able to exit the vehicle quickly enough to prevent harm to us. I believe this is a safety hazard and BMW should take some action to correct this, an overide fix or other safety measure at their expense. This is a safety hazard in my view!.

Door locks would not open leaving me locked out of the car and stranded. Had to have the car towed 300 miles to get it back home where a BMW repair place was available. Had to replace both front door actuators at a cost of $600. 00 just to get back inside my car. If a baby was trapped in the car it could of died by the time it was to get anyone to help get the doors open. The most dangerous design I've ever heard of. Interior door handles will not work and no way to get out of the car if it happened while I was inside.

Driver door will not unlock or open. According to dozens of forum posts, it's a known issue. Very dangerous if this fails in an accident and can't get out of the car. Only way to get in and out is through window or passenger door. It is possible for all locks to fail and only way to get out would be from the windows. Even door handle can't open door.

The vehicle automatically unrolls all windows and the moonroof whenever it rains. This is flooding and ruining the vehicle, and causing moisture to enter the electrical system and cause a significant fire hazard. There is a burning smell from the electrical system. The issue, which is well known on the blogosphere, is due to a faulty and improperly installed wiring harness (installed crooked), an electrical short in pins 18 and 19 for the door lock actuator, and improper moisture sealing for the harness and actuator. The manufacturer refuses to acknowledge or address the issue.

Steering wheel lock sign keeps appearing and locking me out of the car. This has happened 4 times in the last two weeks and has left me stranded every time and 3 of the times a tow truck was unable to reach my car to tow it. I have had it at the dealer for a week now and the sign has not popped up for them so they say they can not do anything. When I dropped off the car to them after being stuck for 45 min, as soon as I parked it at BMW the service woman tried to go into it and start it and it showed the sign. The service team has been unable to diagnose the problem. So I am pick up the car today with nothing that has been done to it and it will most likely happen again in the next couple of days since it will be driven normally.

Several times throughout the day after the car was parked, it was difficult to start and he battery indicator came on a few times. The final time after driving from connecticut to queens NY, I was in a friends driveway after dropping them off from the airport, the car would not start even thought the lights were working. Eventually all power was lost. I had to have car pushed out if the driving and on to the street. Also to note earlier I was charging my cell phone, but it stopped charging. I went and purchase a new charged (usb adaptor) which did not work either, but worked when I hooked it up to the computer. The tow truck person was not able to get the car started with a jump, and indicated that it appeared to be an electrical issues. I reviewed the internet to see what the problem could be since my car has such low milage, and noticed there was a recall on my vehicle year and model from February 2013. I don't know if this is the same, but it sounds similar.

The door locks on the front passenger and rear drivers side doors would not unlock and passengers had to climb out of the opposite sides of the vehicle.

The transmission of this vehicle stopped working in 2013. The car stopped in the middle of the highway on several occasions. We got the car checked and it was confirmed that it was the transmission. A car of this caliber should not have transmission issues after only 5-6 years from being purchased. The car also overheats.

The side mirror defect or not working automatically fold forward at anytime. The spring not seat in place, it on top rail disk suspention and may pop out side place. The spring may not fit.
