Three problems related to side/window air bag have been reported for the 2008 BMW 328. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I'm submitting this complaint per instructions on letter I received related to safety recall on BMW driver side airbags. On August 15th 2017 I was given a four week lead time for the airbag repair to be completed on my BMW related to recall #16v071 by my local BMW dealership (nalley BMW of south atlanta) thereafter I called BMW USA and they were of little to no help to speed this up. Because of the risk of death / serious injury associated with this recall my car remains out of use since August 14th 2017. Four weeks waiting for a critical safety repair is beyond a reasonable period of time!! I demand either my repair is carried out immediately or replacement vehicle until it is.
Passenger seat mat failed turning off passenger side airbags for a car manufactured in fall 2007 in germany. BMW don't want to take ownership of the problem despite this being a safety issue and models prior to this cut-off date having already been recalled for the exact same problem. The passenger seat is rarely used and the car, despite being 9 years old, has only done 39,000 miles. This is a dangerous condition if the airbag is truly turned off though no codes indicate this is the case. Don't know what to believe.
The contact owns a 2008 BMW 328i. While driving approximately 55 mph, there was a sudden traffic stop and the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The contact sustained bruising to the hands to prevent the force of the driver's side air bag from damaging the contact's face. Medical attention was not received. A police report was not filed. The front driver and passenger air bags deployed with force. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop for inspection and repair. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The faiulre mileage was not available.
