Engine Oil Leaking problems of the 2009 BMW 328

Two problems related to engine oil leaking have been reported for the 2009 BMW 328. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2018

Tl-the contact owned a 2009 BMW 328i. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number 17v676000 (electrical system). The contact stated while driving at unknown speeds the vehicle stalled. The check engine light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residents. The contact was able to start the vehicle after two days. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer BMW of dallas located at 6200 lemmon Ave, dallas, TX 75209 (972) 763-5528 where informed that the remedy parts were on back order for recall however, they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was diagnosed that the sensor package needed to be replaced and oil was leaking from the gasket. The vehicle was sold to a independent mechanic drivers select located at 13615 n central expy, dallas, TX 75243. The contact was concerned that the vehicle may be resold with repair completion. The manufacturer was notified of the issue however no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 132,000. (VIN tool confirms parts not available) ap.

2 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2017

The contact owns a 2009 BMW 328i. The contact smelled an abnormal burning odor in the vehicle. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that the vehicle was leaking oil under the engine valve cover. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 17v676000 (engine and engine cooling) and 17v683000 (electrical system); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Plaza BMW (11858 olive blvd, creve coeur, mo) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The technician stated that the failure was not related to the recalls. The manufacturer was unable to confirm when the parts were to become available. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
