The contact stated that while accelerating from the vehicle idling, and turning left or right, the transmission hesitated before shifting hard. Occasionally, while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle unintendedly decelerated, hesitated, and failed to accelerate as intended. The vehicle intermittently stalled, and the contact would release the accelerator pedal, depress the brake pedal, and allow the steering wheel failure to self-correct. The failures became more persistent. The abs, check engine, x-drive fluid, esc, and tpms warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that after adding fluid, the failure persisted. The driver's front seat air bag failed to activate intermittently while the driver's seat was occupied. The heating system occasionally failed to operate. The contact became aware of fluid under the vehicle. The dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic to be diagnosed, and the air bag and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The certified mechanic recommended an oil change because the engine oil was dirty. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact radiator was repaired to resolve the failure with the heating system, but the failures persisted. The manufacturer was not informed of the failures. The failure mileage was unknown.

Takata recall. It has taken forever for BMW to right this problem. In September I finally got a communication from BMW that the remedy was available, but it wasn't true. I called my dealer, and they said that they didn't have the parts. They said to call back last week. I did. Now I'm being told that they can't fix it until Dec 13. This is ridiculous. I should at least be able to get a loaner since supposedly my car is unsafe, but none has been offered.

12 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2017

You've mandated a recall for these parts however the dealers are refusing to fix them by giving the customer the run-around stating the parts are not in stock and that they cannot get the part for months. On the contrary, the parent company BMW USA tells me directly that the parts are fully available and should only take 1-2 weeks to arrive when not in stock. People will die because the dealers are not taking on the responsibility mandated by the recall. I have all BMW dealers within 100 miles of my residence and they are reporting the same brush off.

17 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

While BMW has issued a recall for the parts, they seem to be playing games with me and not getting any work done regarding the part in question needed for the airbags. I was told by my local BMW south motors that the part needed to be ordered from BMW north America. Then I found out the part had to come in from germany, which for a recall of such grandeur, I find strange the part has to be imported. Anyway, it has been close to 3 months that I am in this ordeal with no solution done and nothing done to my airbags, thereby risking my safety all because BMW north America does not want to disclose any details of their doings. They told me the part was sent, but south motors hasn't recieved the part. While I believe south motors, I do not believe BMW n. A is being honest. They refused to disclose any details such as tracking information or anything relevant to this investigation. They also have refused to cooperate with south motors or myself to get the problem resolved. They have not acknowledged the product may have been lost in transit for all we know. . . Because they refuse to disclose any information. My life and safety are on the line each time I get into my car and if BMW is going to play cat and mouse with consumers the way it's doing then I think they need to be chastised for this. Since they will not listen to me and have refused to help me out in any way, I am forced to turn to this agency for help. I look forward to getting answers, an admission of fault and apology from BMW, as well as most importantly, the correct part, brand new, sent to south motors BMW, to be promptly replaced so that my airbags are in working order and safe for myself and fellow motorists. Thank you for your attention on this matter.

Rec'd recall notice in 3/2016, talked w/dealer shortly after and they said they didn't have the parts, then again 6/29/2016 still no parts, had service done in early 2017 and asked again, was told they expect shipment in next couple months--"likely takata but not sure". Called 6/29/2017 expect parts end of summer; BMW will send letter & then I to call for service. Last called dealer 8/23/2017 and still no parts and no estimate of when they might get them, told me to wait for letter from BMW. I think of this potential hazard every time I drive. Takata recall with BMW 328i I was sent a notice by BMW in Feb. 2016 about the recall and that the parts to repair it were not available yet. It's been 6 months. There has to be a remedy to fix this problem before an accident occurs. The potential harm from this is "serious injury or death. " this is not something that should take 6 months to repair.

33 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/27/1996

I have a restraint system malfunction alert coming in end of may 2014. The dealer said it was the airbag in headrest and replaced it. Less than a month the restraint system malfunction came on again. I took the car this time to my normal dealer and they could not find an issue. They reset the malfunction alert on July 2 2014. The malfunction alert for the restraint system returned, I again took the car to the dealer in irvine the one that reset the alert in July. This time I explained to them they needed to find what the issue is. After an entire day they gave me a call and said they finally found the issue its in the wiring harness. Of course this will cost about 1250. 00. I went back and fourth asking why was my head rest replaced a couple months ago at crevier BMW 1500 auto mall dr, santa ana, CA 92705. The irvine BMW said that cant answer that and I would need to take the car back to them. I don't believe now that the headrest for the air bag needed replaced and this is an ongoing issue. I spent 450 already on the issue in may and today returning back to the crevier dealer.
