Two problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 2013 BMW 328. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Smelling fuel when I fill my tank and also noticed fuel on the ground if parked for an extended period. Took my car in and they stated the fuel tank has a hairline crack and BMW has since reinforced the part. Seems like they know it is prone to cracking and have made the fix but not issued a recall.
The contact owns a 2013 BMW 328i. The contact filled the vehicle with fuel and parked the vehicle in her garage overnight. The following day, the contact noticed an abnormal odor and a fuel leak on the ground. The vehicle was driven to a mechanic who diagnosed that the seal above the fuel tank fractured and would recur if the fuel tank system was not upgraded. The fuel tank was replaced. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.
