12/2023 - sewell BMW replaced egr, all h/p fuel lines at injectors due to corrosion, injector harness due to heat damage to the wire jackets, cracked coolant pipe. At 145,976 that's an additional 22,315 miles on the 60,000 mile 2015 replacement engine. Total repair costs $3,939. 45. 08/23/2024 - passed inspection, odometer 149,701. 09/09/2024- only 2 weeks later an estimate of 4,000 miles after replacing injector harness and h/p fuel lines, engine went up in flames, reason unknown. Pictures attached, vehicle was a total loss.
Mfgr campaign #: 24v-608:474 was issued in August 2024 for my car, a 2014 BMW 328i. It is now January, 2025 and no remedy is available. Is there a defined period of time that BMW needs to produce a remedy? how long should I expect to wait for the remedy to be available and for my dealership to make the repair? thanks.
The driver side door lock mechanism failed completely while the driver was in the vehicle, making it impossible to open the driver side door or exit the vehicle normally. Neither the interior door handle, nor the central power lock/unlock control, nor the remote key fob, nor the physical key inserted into the door lock from the outside can unlock the door. The driver was forced to exit the vehicle by moving the driver seat to an extreme aft position, then climbing over the center console into the passenger seat, to exit via the passenger door. If the power seat adjustment had been inoperable, egress would have bee significantly more difficult. If the driver had been involved in a collision, or otherwise needed to exit the vehicle very quickly, they would have been severely hindered from doing so. Inability to operate the driver side door represents a safety hazard to the driver. No warning messages or lamps were present in the vehicle before or after the door lock mechanism failure. The driver side door remains inoperable after completely switching off the vehicle ignition and turning it back on.
Engine and transmission mounts are collapsed. The car started making a rattling sound that seemed to start from the center of car traveling towards the steering wheel. There was never an alert or a system warning lamp advising of the issue. BMW dealer inspected the car and determined that the engine and transmission mounts were collapsed. Still no warning or alert came on. The potential risk of an entire engine and transmission to fall out without any warning can pose a huge danger and possible fatality.
Have been waiting since March to get safety recall no. 21v-907:egr cooler completed. BMW of henderson is the dealership. I called BMW customer relations and they told me each dealer is independently owned and they can’t do anything for me. This dealership is notorious for poor service.
The sunroof in my car exploded yesterday morning as I was driving in clear weather on the open freeway. There were no other vehicles or other obstacles near the car when the incident occurred; nothing to "throw up" a rock onto the car and cause the damage as BMW says occurs often in situations like this. When the sunroof blew out, it sounded like a gun went off in my car, my dad and I were was showered with glass, and the impact was so strong it made a dent on the roof of my car.
Diesel emissions system is producing an error code due to incorrect coding by the manufacturer for us grade diesel fuel. Check engine light has come on. There are warranties out for the model years just slightly older than mine. I have read many threads with people talking about having the same issue.
I was driving down the massachusetts turnpike with my 2 year old grandson and I experienced a power loss in the car. I immediately pulled over and opened the hood to find a fire starting in the engine compartment. I got my grandson out of the car and within minutes it was engulfed in flames. This in my opinion is a direct result of the BMW recall 21v-907 and I am really shocked drivers falling under this recall are still driving these vehicles. Action needs to happen before serious injury or death occurs.
Exhaust smell from engine bay area comes into car since I bought the car. I reported this problem to the dealer and no solution was found. Egr cooler was not replaced even though I get the recall since 2018 and it states that the exhaust smell could possibly comes from egr. Problem needs to be addressed by BMW since I use this car to drive my infant. Please advise!.
I went to park my mom's car. Tapped the brakes, moved up a little, tapped the brakes again-the brakes gave out and the car lunged forward at a high speed. The only reason I stopped was because a metal fence stopped me. Earlier in the day the car switched modes by itself from sport to economy. This is the 2nd time this has happened in this car. The first time my mom was parking in her driveway and the brakes gave out and the car lunged into her garage. This car is not safe.
The left brake lamp continues to come on after changing the brake lamp and checking sensor - I dont know if the light is out or its another issue the brake lamp has been working fine , the warning is incorrect also , the added safety features installed in the car and paid 1000's extra for no longer work due 3g phase out , BMW claimed drivers can use their phones but they will not retro fit the cars to get safety features back , they chose specific vins of this model to re-enable but not all??? the car has no space within drivers sight to mount phones for directions/navigation and any voice activation /handfree usage iis disabled along with crash notificatiions/stolen vehicle recovery . BMW made crashes far more likely in the vehicle and far more vulnerable to be stolen! BMW service dept advised to use a cell phone to get some of the lost services back which is illegal and very dangerous to do so.
Unknown- not safety related issue: vehicle can no longer provide navigation related features reason: BMW north America declined to upgare cellular 3g communication capability to 4g (sim card interface) reason: north american cellular networks are discontinuing their 3g networks and and are upgrading to 4g networks. Many cany manufacturers provide vehicle related features that require the vehicle to communicate via the cellular networks. Impact:certain BMW vechicles sold with manufaturer purchased features for navigation with the live traffic capability sold on a subsription basis after the intial warranty period stopped functioning BMW customer interaction related info: - attempted to use the live traffic info and contacted BMW customer service - response was that this feature is no loger available because it uses 3g and 3g is being discontinued. I was directed to the local dealer for upgrade - local delar confirmed that do not have information for this upgrade and directed me back to BMW customer support - I contacted BMW customer service and they confirmed that this feature operates on 3g and no longer available connected drive installed on the vehicle customer concern: I do expect a car manufacurer that sells vehicles with cellular dependent features to conform to the latest cellular communication standard in north America and issue a recall to upgrade 3g dependent vehicles with certain sold capabilities that stopped operating due to the 3g to 4g transition in north America.
On my drive home I noticed a strong smell of dizel fuel. Stoped as soon as it was possible . Noticed a fuel was poring to the ground under my engine. Shut it down and call aaa. At the BMW dealership repair shop they found a broken fuel supply line that was rubbing against the vacuum pipe. My car was covered with fuel from engine to a trunk to everything under including muffler ,soaking wet weals and tires, I lost a half tank of fuel in about 5 minutes. It's scare me a lot ,I think it was a miracle it did not catch a fire on 93 degree day, my wife will never sit in this car again. I will feel guilty if I will sell this car to somebody else. Don't know what to do now. What kind of design it is? how fuel line can constantly rub something else? this car just over 70000 miles, garage kept, never been in any accidents, well maintain.
While driving on the highway, a loud bang was heard and broken glass was seen falling over the rear windshield. After pulling over, it was found that the sunroof had exploded, with a large hole in the middle and glass around it protruding upwards.
Inside door latches frequently do not open the locked doors - must use power door unlock first. This creates an unsafe situation if door needs to be unlocked quickly, under restricted mobility or if power is out following an accident or sustained sitting in car that is not running and cannot be re-started. There are two existing complaints about this issue related to this exact model and widely documented online. Since the door latch actuator on this model is shared with other models for this and many other years of similar models BMW should replace the affected actuators as a recall.
I was driving this vehicle over the weekend, the car stops on the road abruptly. The car slows down and automatically switches the gear to neutral and comes to a halt on the middle of the road. The car's dashboard indicated a warning "chassis stabilization" error. I was able to restart the car again and was able to proceed maybe 2 miles and this time, it stopped at the middle of the road again. This time there was traffic behind me, I was really frightened since there was traffic behind me! it was a very narrow miss! I am having the car towed to a BMW dealer to inspect it. I also reported this incident to BMW consumer affairs, I was asked to contact the dealer to check the vehicle out.
When turning left or right, the power to the wheels is not engaged. However, when the tire is straight, the power engages. This action prevents you from driving normally. To drive, you have to straighten out the wheel straight. Then as you increase velocity, you make your turn. Can be very unsafe as you are driving if this happens (breaks) on the road.
[xxx] - purchase vehicle, odometer 109,803. 11/2019 - car went into limp mode while driving on highway. Towed to BMW dealership and was advised needed new engine, at the time it only had 123,661 miles on it. Towed to eurauto shop for installation of replacement engine. 02/2020- the shop replaced the ceased oem engine with a 2015 engine, with only 60,000 miles on it. Eurauto shop tore down oem engine and confirmed the timing chain guide broke, resulting in jumped timing and caused valve to hit piston. Total cost for engine replacement $6,641. 49. My vehicle currently has an egr problem but for some reason isn't covered under the recall. . . Sometimes my front passenger door will not open! like at all! I will have to hit the unlock button multiple times before I can open the door. My def was filled with the correct fluid at the appropriate time about 1k miles ago. Suddenly as I'm driving down the road a light appeared that says incorrect fluid added no start after xxx miles. Now vehicle will no longer start. After searching the web others have had this issue connected to nox sensor. Taking to shop hopefully covered since nox sensor was just replaced from a recall.
Problem discovered upon inspection for recall 18v-755 exhaust gas recirculation cooler, after over seven months no parts, no action.
It's under recall and they called me once and said parts not available and it's been 8 month since recall and issue has not been resolved.
Blower motor which controls air flow for heating and a/c system , the connection between the wiring and the blower motor is deteriorated ,this is leading the blower to only blow hot air at all times even when the a/c is on also might be overheating the car. Please look into this matter.
Carbon monoxide inside the car is wayyy too high with the egr cooler leaking issue not being fixed yet. It's been 3 months now and the air quality inside the car is soo bad that I am getting headache from the soot and CO gas coming out of ac vent. I did a service today and even after replacing the microfilter and another filter, the problem still persists. The degraded air quality contains hazardous gas and can cause dizziness which could lead to fatal accidents at higher speed. I kindly request that BMW repurchase this vehicle from me as soon as possible, before I could get into any sort of accident. The egr cooler issue could also lead to car fire (which is definitely something I don't want to happen. ) thank you. Regards, thejas krishnan.
My BMW 328i x-drive giving "drivetrain malfunction" message when the car was running on sport mode or eco mode. After few minutes of driving the cars shuts down. This had happened 3 times before in same month and every time the dealership looked at it the replaced a part(fuel injector and module in fuel tank) no help and happened again next day they did it. After I topped up the fuel with 2 gallons when this happen this time the message is not should no more and the car started running normal gain. BMW is not able to figure out the issue and I will be turning it in tomorrow again for diagnosis. The issue is still un-know.
The sunroof exploded. On June 29th, 2018 at approximately 4:00 pm I was stop at an intersection waitin for an on coming car to pass so I could make a left turn. As soon as I started to go I heard what sounded like an explosion/loins gun shot coming from the inside of the car. I was extremely startled, I am literally shaking now just thinking about how scary this was. It only took a few seconds to realize the sunroof was shattering above me. I was only a few miles from home. I called the dealership to advise them what had happed and schedule a repair. I told them this is defective sunroof and it should be covered under the warranty. He couldn't confirm this for me I asked for someone to call me back to confirm, no one called back but I was later in the day on a Friday. I did some research online and I see this type do incident is a problem. Just the fact that you can be startled to that extent while driving is quite disturbing and dangerous. One very important fact is the force from the explosion came from the inside of the car as you can see the glass is forced up. Thank you.
Car has gone thru numerous service calls for coolant leak, pressure testing & burnt oil smell & vapor fume coming inside the cab when engine reaches the operating temperature!! makes the car not drivable!! after oil filter housing, cylinder cover & gasket change, there is still a visible burnt oil smoke coming from rear & sides of the engine area, best seen under a flash light after dusk! this is been going on since June 2018 & presently car is in the shop for repair again!!.
Strange �make you feel sick� fumes constantly entering my car cabin. I ised an air quality test device to read the air. Its bad. Manufacturer denies everything. Wants me to replace the windshield to make it go away. But only if he does it. 3rd party not allowed. I had windshield checked by 3rd party. No air leaks. Manufacturer refuses to do the same test. Fumes in car get so bad that I constantly have rhe feeling I am being chocked while driving, red eyse, weird stomach and heart beat feeling, pain in arm and finger, funny sensation on my tongue. Manufacturer won't inspector the car further. No interest in researching particularly parts, or any for that matter, in detail. Please advise. Is there a list and or chart that lists how much like of formaldehyde, vocs, CO, no2, tvoc are allowed/ are ok in a vehicle cabin with all windows closed while ventilation is running? iam having all these issues while driving, any road, with 30min from first turning car on, then with 30 mph and up, ventilation system on, no matter what setting of it on or off with pre selecting +70 degrees. Inability to open the driver door to exit the vehicle after the vehicle is stopped. I was informed that it may represent a failure of the door actuator. To be unable to exit the vehicle in the event of an emergency is unacceptable. They claim that the problem can occur intermittently before complete failure and may not be detected by their diagnostics. It is not a covered part or repair despite being a safety issue in a vehicle under the orignal manufacturer warranty and likely represents an intrinsic defect in a vehicle with 36,000 miles.
Car went completely dead on a 6 lane highway. After almost 3 hours of waiting for BMW tow service the police had the car towed. What happened prior to the tow was a car crashed into the back of the police car that was behind us. After 4 days in the shop we were told the cars "main computer had a "catastrophic" failure and needed to be replaced. I have called and written BMW corporate as my wife is scared to drive the car and I was hoping they would discuss some kind of replacement or buy back. The car was totally without any power including the emergency flashers! there appears to me to be a major safety flaw in the cars design and want you to review what happened before another serious breakdown occurs.
Saturday Feb. 06, 2016 approx. 7/8 pm after stopping at a light we experienced a feeling of the car not wanting to go. After passing the light the car began to slow down then stop. We tried starting but it wouldn't. I called BMW assist by pressing the overhead button. They called a tow truck. We were picked up by family in an area surrounded by snow and no houses in sight. I left everything in the car expecting to get it back within a couple of days. Today is Feb. 29. They changed several parts and still can't get the car to run.
Incoming air to the cabin is unsafe, fumes enter the cabin. Suspensi�n present constant issues, parts have broken with normal wear.
I was driving down the freeway with my son in the back seat when all of a sudden I heard a really loud explosion. I had no idea what had happened, it almost sounded like a loud gunshot. I heard particles falling on my car, but I did not know what they were. I got off of the freeway just to make sure that it wasn't my car. Sure enough, when I got out, I saw a basketball size hole in my moon roof. I knew that nothing had hit the moon roof because I had not gone under an overpass nor I had I seen anything coming at me that would have caused this damage. I went home and checked on the internet and saw damage to another BMW that looked almost identical to mine. The driver of that vehicle explained the same experience that I did, that he had heard a loud boom or pop and there appeared a huge hole in his moonroof. This exploding moonroof phenomena is not just a BMW problem apparently. I saw vehicles of all types that have experienced this. My son and I were lucky. All we experience was a huge scare and some falling glass, but have there been more traffic on that freeway, we might not have made it. This is obviously a problem with the auto glass that is being installed in these vehicles and is a huge road hazard. The vehicle manufacturers have known about this for quite some time, and nothing has been done about it . Unfortunately, lives may be lost as a result . Something definitely needs to be done.
Just after getting on the highway, I got an warning message that read - "chassis: drive moderately. Consult service center. " this is the 3rd time I got this warning. It has been at the dealer for service the past 2 times. I have not been able to get a good answer from the dealer as to what problems this might cause. I do notice the suspension doesn't work as well when it throws this error.
