general problems of the 2016 BMW 328

My vehicle was stolen. Dent on right back fender . Footage needs to be pulled from gull aire village 34677. Witness was david j beglan. First dent. Sunpass has image. Reported to clwr pd. Accident photos sent. Not same car. Allstate insurance.

I have been waiting since October 2024 to get a remedy available to fix the recall on this vehicle. Dealership won’t even look at the car since the remedy is unavailable but this is a dangerous issue to have and know about without a fix anywhere in the foreseeable future.

A recall was issued by BMW in August 2024. As of today, April 14, 2025, there is still no remedy issued by BMW to repair this issue. BMW states that the issue with the water pump electrical connector can cause a short circuit and engine fire.

Drive train malfunction. Throws itself in to neutral while driving. Lost the power to accelerate so had to coast to the shoulder. . Turned the car off and restarted it. Took to automotive shop via extended warranty suggested and I paid to have the pressure fuel piece. This same piece, apparently has a recall on the 2015 but not my year. Very upset. While out of town the same thing happened again. With a passenger. Very scary my car lost power and almost caused an accident.

Need to recall as it is common knowledge among the BMW technicians that these vehicles are plagued with hazard of parking / emergency break line clip breaking and for the line contacting the rotating drive shaft. The holding clip mfg part # 34406854898 breaks regularly ! the plastic parking brake retaining clip (BMW part # 34 40 6 854 898) deforms due to age/heat. The cable guide does not hold the cable in place anymore and hazardously starts to rub against the rotating driveshaft, causing the emergency parking lines which makes a noise that and sounds like coming from the center console. This is endangering the occupants, and also it is very costly replacement with the same plastic part again. The central locking system frequently goes out and I'd have to replace the three doors actuators that don't work consistently. Many times I'm locked in the car with the only way of getting out is by lowering the window and climbing out. According to my service advisor at BMW, this is a known problem with different models of BMW in this time frame. I really wish it would be considered a recall so at least myself and my family will feel safe and know that I can escape the car if necessary.

Sunroof exploded while driving on the highway.

I was at a red light while driving my car. When I stepped on the gas once the light turned green the car stalled and started jerking I immediately smelled smoked and seen smoke coming through the cabin. . Lt made a strange sound from the engine the service engine light came on and said reduced engine power/ drive train malfunction get service immediately. I was able to coast the car to a curb luckily in front of a car shop as soon as I can get out of the car a worker from the shop ran outside yelling your car is on fire! we lift the hood and he had a water hose on the side of the shop he then sprayed the area of the fire and it was put out. I have kept regular routine maintenance on the car no prior signs of car malfunctioning or service engine light on no warning at all this was unexpected. This occurred February 8th 2022 I had the vehicle towed to my local firestone auto care and they said the ignition coils were melted and something strange happened and to check with BMW because it was too catastrophic for them to fix since then I have had the vehicle at my home parked and after calling BMW they said there were no known recalls at the time….

Car stops while driving, battery also draws while not in use. Which is very dangerous. Already filed report with dealer ship for car. We will be having an another baby this winter and it is getting to the point where it can be very dangerous for my family. We got it checked but since it’s a manufacturer issue is what they said. Since this car doesn’t have any recalls dealer doesn’t want to do anything. We noticed that many other cars of same year have the same problem.

There is an issue with older Bmws (2016 BMW f30 body style in my case), the door handle stickiness issue. Even there's a name for it created by BMW service, it is called "melting door handle". There are thousands of complaints and actually a solution (a bad one) by third parties, lego-like part to cover the sticky handle. I believe this should be recalled regardless if it is a safety issue or not. BMW charges $1000 to replace the handle. I had it once and it went bad again. I would like to note that it was the driveshaft that caused this. The connection between the driveshaft and the flange loosened completely. There are previous recalls for this with BMW. The vehicle was on a highway, going 65mph and all of a sudden there was vibration and noise from underneath the vehicle. All of a sudden it slowed down to the point where it would no longer driveable. I was going 5mph (barely) to get off the exit and was not able to make a turn. I shut the car off and restarted it and was able to move to a safe parking lot 10 feet away. Once I was safe, the care shutdown and was no longer able to turn back on. Oil was coming out of the car.

The vehicle front end will shake and lurch left and right when driving at freeway speeds. When driving at or below 25mph, and a small but sharp bump in the road is driven over, the entire steering column will shake and the suspension in the front (in particular the drivers side) will make a loud clunking/popping sound. I've had the vehicle inspected by the dealership 2 times. They tell me that the noise is normal and common on this year and make. When going online and typing into google "2016 BMW 328i steering noise/suspension noise" there are hundreds of reports of exactly what I'm experiencing. I'm afraid that the vehicle will lose control at some point if the steering or suspension fails.

10/12/18 approx. 12:30pm, about 80 degrees, driving on texas freeway, 65mph, loud pow, front sunroof exploded. Glass shattered outward, exposing long opening in front of sunroof.

We were driving down the freeway on the 5 when boom our sunroof exploded shattering glass everywhere. We were in complete shock as nothing hit the car or any debris or rocks. We called our local BMW immediately and we got transferred over to our standard service tech that scheduled an appointment with us this morning. At the dealership they said that a rock must hit it and weakened the glass and the pressure while driving with weakened glass can cause it to shatter. I let them know that I researched "exploding sunroofs" and it has been happening more frequency and that this is a huge safety issue that has to do with either the manufacturing qualify or defect. I can't believe that BMW thinks its okay to have a sunroof explode while driving and not take this more seriously and are telling their service center to say its not BMW's fault and the owners responsibility. The tech woman we spoke with in person at the BMW in encinitas said to us that see has seen this 3 times at their shop and specifically mentioned pressure change with weakens glass ill cause this to happen. I don't see how known issues of exploding glass is acceptable on our streets and freeways. This issue needs to be taken very seriously because if we didn't have the inside sunroof slider closed glass would have rained down me driving almost certainly getting in my eyes and potentially causing an accident at high speeds.
