Electronic Stability Control problem #1

While driving 70mph car went into neutral coasting to a stop. I had no control of the gas causing a dangerous sittuation as we coasted to the side of the road. After placing the vehicle into park, it would not start and needed to be towed. Vehicle could not be put into neutral for towing purposes. Repair shop said the timing chain had went out seizing and ruining the engine. 15k repair bill, very dangerous sittuation having no control over a vehicle at high speed highway driving!.

Electronic Stability Control problem #2

The fotwell modules on these cars are defective. . There was an extended waraanty covering this to replace the defective frm(or footwell module)but it does not include this car. . The car's headlights, brakelights, domelites stay on with car off, thus drainig the battery. The car then lacks power and can shut off even when driving causing a serious accident. In this model car, these are fmr2 modules that can't be rebuilt. BMW 328i has a supeceeded part and I called them and they wont cover the cost or honor the warranty for this car. Thus I am submitting this as I heard several other BMW onwners with similar models have experienced defective footwell modules. . I strongly feel my car should be included as a recall or extended warranty on this part. You cannot replace it as BMW parts no longer carries it, thus how to you get this car to run with the battery draining with lights on?? this poses a danger if vehicle stalls with battery voltage declining as car will no longer run,,even when driving.

Electronic Stability Control problem #3

To avoid a head on collision, I was forced off road. When I moved out of the way I immediately applied the breaks which then took some time to respond as if it was blocked or as if I didnt press the pedal. By the time I felt some sort of stopping tension I was put into a pole. Airbags did not deploy.

Electronic Stability Control problem #4

My car started giving error codes of chassis stabilization malfunction errors. It started draining the battery (new battery less than a year) where it needed to be jumped. The dealer said the power supply cable from the battery to the motor needs to be replaced. Vehicle started then wouldn't run normal and then battery was dead. Once jumped it ran but shakes bad.

Electronic Stability Control problem #5

I was slowing to a stop in rush hour traffic, went to brake and the engine revved up to 300 rpms and lurched forward, almost hitting the car in front of me. Traffic was crawling so I was only going about 20 mph before I was about to make a complete stop.

Electronic Stability Control problem #6

I am trying to review if my car is eligible for a recall evaluation.

Electronic Stability Control problem #7

BMW of north America, llc (BMW) is recalling certain 2006-2011 323i, 325i, 325xi, 328i, 328xi, 330i, 330xi, 335i, 335xi and m3, 2007-2011 328i xdrive, 335i xdrive and 335is and 2009-2011 335d vehicles. The wiring and electrical connectors for the system that controls air flow for the heating and air conditioning system may overheat. Consequence wiring that overheats could cause the electrical connectors to melt, and increase the risk of a fire, even when the vehicle is unattended. I have been smelling burning rubber and at times it looks as if the car is smoking. I was notified of the matter but was out on bed rest due to high risk pregnancy. I did have the car serviced. Please advise!.

Electronic Stability Control problem #8

We pulled into a parking space, my husband had his foot on the brake and the car surged up a curb, hit a sign and then hit a lamp post and the car went up the cement block. I don't remember much more, but ther insurance totaled the car and I suffered from brain trauma and 3 back disks.

Electronic Stability Control problem #9

Chassis stabilization light on. Drive moderately. Abs light on. Brake light on. Picture of a car skidding. These warnings come on when vehicle is stationary or in motion.

Electronic Stability Control problem #10

Purchased the vehicle in late March. We have already had to go to the repair shop more than 3 occasions. I believe they are using faulty pieces in vehicles. We spent 13k and put down 4k. Now working 2 months the repairs are costing close to 5k in 2 months. I understand buying used vehicles as my first car was used. However I have had no issues in 2 years. I believe this piece was broken and they didn't want to repair the issues with the car based on cost.

Electronic Stability Control problem #11

I was driving from work and the car just instantly shut off on the highway. The car wouldn't go into neutral. After doing some research online I saw that it's a problem where a lot of BMW owners have encountered. What if I got my kids in the car that day.

Electronic Stability Control problem #12

While driving my vehicle engine stalled and lost power. I tried to restart while in the middle of the city street with several cars behind and coming from oppisit direction. I placed the car in park and jumped out leaving the vehicle while watching and looking at other cars avoiding from hitting it. Two jentalman can to help me push it out of th the middle of the street. Electronic Stability Control problem #13

At stop light, warning on the dashboard "drive moderately, increased steering effort required. Consult service center. " the steering was very tough to rotate and it created panic. After a couple of hours, restarted car and the steering was more manageable. Dealer came back suggesting the car needs "reprogramming" and despite under BMW platinum extended warranty 236 usd was charged . Should have been covered or an outright recall instead of charging as if it is a feature. I would request NHTSA to look into the matter and make BMW responsible for such mistakes instead of consumer paying. I could have been in an accident on the freeway for a software bug which BMW created. If this is how BMW intends to make money of service, it is a serious corruption and should be investigated. Let me know if you if you need any further information to make a case or test the car. Fault codes 4823c2 480ab8.

Electronic Stability Control problem #14

Electronic Stability Control problem #15

Cruise control malfunction due to a sensor malfunction in the steering column. As soon as I begin driving, the malfunction message begins and repeats constantly as I drive. This malfunction disables all of the features on the steering wheel. The warning message appears in the navigation screen repeatedly when driving. It is distracting and prevents me from using hands free functions on the steering wheel. The dealer advises it is $1,000 to repair. I never used the cruise control, nor do I need it.

Electronic Stability Control problem #16

I have a BMW 328i series 2011 4 door sedan vehicle ) I purchased my car 2018 April and since the 1 st day it has given me electrical problems diagnostics nor any mechanic have found soultion the vehicles battery suddenly drains I have gotten 5 new batterys replaced because they end up being bad and I always have a drained battery after 3 or less hours of recently usage also the vehicle in various occasion turns of in the freeway ,while driving in the street etc. When it shutsdown lights flicker ,and in dashboard theirs shortage noise and in the dashboard the ground picture with the vehicle is red (no check engine ) my brake light is permanently on then after 1-2 min car turns on completly well and the ground logo with the vechile is yellow but it can turn of and do the same in 1-3 min or sometimes it wont do it until 4 hr or the next day but it is a constant thing everytime I drive the vehicle I have started to worry because I noticed my battery full of acid and I replaced it three time because tr scid is melting the metal were the battery goes and it is next to the gas tank.

Electronic Stability Control problem #17

My car has been having serious issues. Over heating, smoking uncontrollably, unable to use air/ heat conditioning due to toxic smoke coming through vent. Lights signal, check engine light, and brake light will not turn off. I fear for my life and have been car pulling due to my car issues. I feel as though, my car is at risk of catching on fire. The car has even shut off 5 times due to the excessive smoke. In was told by mechanic that I would only need to pressure wash the engine and it should be fine. I have had to pull over by the highway. I have wasted several dollars due to this matter with my car. Its pains me deeply that I'm having these issues with my car. I have worked very hard to get it. I'm at a loss for words with this matter.

Electronic Stability Control problem #18

There's been a recall on the parts that control the flow or speed of the ac unit in the car, also the airflow. There's several other recalls on this car. A notice was originally sent out to me in November of 2017. It's now August of 2018 and another notice has not been sent out. I've reached out to BMW on this issue was simply told that if smoke or a fire starts in my car, to pull over and dial 911. The fact I can't use my ac in arizona is out of control, it's extremely hot here. Earlier in the year it was okay since it was cooler but now temps are reaching over 110 degrees. I did find the part but also asked for a reimbursement if I were to purchase it and was told I'd still have to wait for a second letter. Why should I need to wait for a second letter for something there's a recall on? especially something that can put myself or child in damage or other people.

Electronic Stability Control problem #19

Wheel speed sensors fail under hard breaking happened 2 times car brakes abs and anti swerve system stop working and breaking is affected hard peddle stopping distance affected. BMW replaced them under warrantee but would not replace the 2 that are working until they fail. My daughter drives this car for school and it is a safety hansard that BMW will not replace. Happened twice once in town the other time on highway had to tow the car to dealer both times.

I have read the recalls on my vehicle and it has stated that car can go on fire while driving or not and parts are not available. I would like to return the vehicle my famiy and my safety comes first.

Electronic Stability Control problem #22

I was driving with an adult passenger on June 1, 2018 at approximately 3 pm on a public street, traveling straight at approx 40 mph. Conditions were dry and sunny. I pressed the brake at a stop light and the car stopped for a brief second and then lunged forward while the brake was still depressed. I put both feet on the brake and pushed hard to the floor. The car continued forward several feet and slowed to a stop. The engine was revving while I tried to stop and my passenger stated that the rpms increased rapidly. No warning lights came on or engine warning. I was approx 2 miles from the BMW dealership so I slowly drove my car there, putting it in neutral each time I had to stop. I explained the situation, they reviewed the car and found nothing wrong. The car has a history of idling high/fast, which I also relayed to the dealership. There were no obstructions near or under the brake pedal and I did not accidentally step on the gas. I am canceling my lease tomorrow.

Electronic Stability Control problem #23

Overheating.

Electronic Stability Control problem #24

Tl - the contact owns a 2007 BMW 328i. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked, when attempting to start the vehicle, it was noticed that the vehicle had loss of all elecletrical power. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer (hendrick BMW north lake: 10720 north lake auto plaza blvd, charlotte, nc 28269), where the technician informed the contact that the distribution box had over heated and melted. This was going to be an out of pocket cost. The manufacturer was notified of this failure and informed the contact even though the vehicle is a 2007 it was manufacturer in December of 2006 and was outside of the date of the recall :13v044000 (electrical system). The manufacturer continued to inform that even though it was 2 months outside of the recall:13v044000 (electrical system) date if it was 1 day outside of that date they would be unable to assist. The VIN search revealed no recalls associated with this vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 156,000.

Electronic Stability Control problem #25

I bought a used 2011 BMW 328i from a used dealership. I drove it home the first day started to overheat. I checked the carfax on the car & it has 2 recalls. Is it illegal for a dealer to sell me a car knowing it has a 2 safety recalls?.

Electronic Stability Control problem #26

The vehicles rdc module that communicates to the tpms gets wet and causes a complete electrical system failure. This module on is located under the passenger rear wheel splash shield on the outside of the vehicle and is exposed to elements. This is a poor design and location. Failure happened during vehicle operation and even when off and it causes complete loss of all safety function. It seems to be a common issue when researching online.

Electronic Stability Control problem #27

The engine light would come on, but nothing would be wrong with the car at least I thought.

Electronic Stability Control problem #28

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 BMW 328xi. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph that he observed the engine shaking, along with smoke appeared from under the hood and the muffler, when the check engine light illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to the local dealer (BMW of freehold,, 4225 u. S. 9, freehold, NJ, 07728) where it was diagnosed that they needed to replace the pcv valve heater. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost of the repair. The vehicle was included under the NHTSA campaign number: 17v683000 (engine) , however the parts were unavailable. The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the failure and confirmed that the dealer could repair the vehicle, however that it would be a out of pocket expense to the contact at the time, but when the remedy and parts were made available then they would reimburse the contact. The failure mileage was approximately 77, 336. VIN tool confirms parts not available. Jb.

Electronic Stability Control problem #29

Car over heats and smoking.

Electronic Stability Control problem #30

I was driving my 2009 BMW 328i sedan on the highway during peak morning office hour (~ 07:45 am cst) on August 24th 2017 when all of a sudden the steering control started behaving weird. The steering wheel was not staying straight. It was going to the extreme left and right resulting in the car going all over the lanes by itself. I was scared and panicked at this sudden behavior of the car. Ultimately I hit the brakes and the car seemed to get back to control. I pulled over to the shoulder and got the car towed to my home. Note that the car was not driven for a month as I was on vacation. I am thankful to god that I am safe and didn't hit or get hit by another car!.

Electronic Stability Control problem #31

" takata recall " : I remember the moment my car accident happened ( 7-18-17 ) : when I arrived del Mar pharmacy's parking lot ( 9008 e. Garvey Ave. Rosemead, CA 91770 ), absolutely I slowed down my car and approaching the parking space. When my car 's front tires touch one side of the pavement ( there are 2 pavements separated apart about 3 feet with soil where are planted with flowers, each pavement is approximately 1/2 foot thick and 1/2 foot high ). While I stepped on my car's break pedal, I felt the car suddenly lost control and it jumped on my side's pavement, and almost at the same time, both air bags burst, made the car ran over to almost a half of the distance between 2 pavements ( about more than 2 feet ) and hitting the rear of another parking car ( on opposite side of my car's parking space ( lot ). I didn't know what reason had made the breaking system didn't function well, then the car jumped on the pavement, and both air bags suddenly burst, made the car madly jump over to another side of parking space ( opposite side ) and made the accident serious ( 1 car's rear almost was crashed, another car's rear on the other side of parking space was hit by this car' s head . Finally, the police came to make the report, and my car was towed away to my friend's parking lot. After 1 week, I called the repair shop which fixed my car;s break system in June. Now it is still there, and waiting for BMW investigating more than 3 weeks already, but still without any result if you still have any questions, please just email me. I will do my best to explain every detail. Sincerely, yours : nguyen quach.

I recall the moment my car accident happened : when I arrived the pharmacy parking lot, absolutely I slowed down my car and approaching the parking space. Therefore : 2 reasons, the breaking system didn't function well at first, when the car jumped to the pavement, the air bags suddenly burst, made the car madly jump over to another side of parking space ( opposite side ) and made the accident serious ( 1 car's rear almost was crashed, another car's rear on the other side of parking space was touched by this car' s head almost no evidence ). Finally, my car stopped, can't move anymore !.

Electronic Stability Control problem #33

I began experiencing trouble with my 2009 BMW 328i sedan as early as January 2017. The air conditioner would sometimes go on and at other times it wouldn't go off . I was experiencing the same problems with the heater. Shortly after my car began to overheat and stall out. It would hold back until I was in 4th gear, if I even made it that far before dying out. It began to sound like a old vw. L reached out to my local BMW service dept. For repairs. I was told that the problems my vehicle was having,. Was not under recall by BMW at that time. And that any repairs done to my vehicle would have to come out of pocket. At the time it wasn't an option. I had the repairs done at a local independent auto repair shop. 11 months later I began experiencing the exact same problems all over again. Since February 2018 I have been reaching out for assistance to repair my vehicle defects which are now under recall by BMW , with no success. I've attached an outlined history of my contact with BMW customer relations. My vehicle remains stationary at my place of residences, awaiting a phone approval by BMW customer relations to BMW roadside assistance. For towing.

Electronic Stability Control problem #34

Out of no where the car didn't want to start up any more. It was parked in my driveway. At first I thought it was the battery but it wasn't. I had it checked out and they didn't know why it couldn't start. I checked online and then I noticed that there's been a recall for 3 series BMW due to electrical problems and I noticed that a lot of people were in my shoes.

Electronic Stability Control problem #35

Battery died. Got a charge and red steering light with a lock turned on. Locked steering and unable to start car after charging.

Electronic Stability Control problem #36

Recall 13v044000 electrical system car is still affected by this recall and unsafe for driving. Vehicle has been losing power, stalling, jerking, sensors faulty, recall16v071000 airbags unsafe hazzard my son was driving the vehicle and the lights and sensors started to go, the headlight went out on the highway, he managed to get into the emergency lane and the vehicle completly stalled. He had no light including hazards on a busy highway at night. He could have been killed losing power while driving especially on the interstate. This has happened on more than one occasion and needs to be repaired, or refunded by BMW immediately. My son is 23 years old and should not have to fear for his life whenever he drives his vehicle. BMW claims the recall work was done, but this vehicle is obviously not repaired as far as the electrical system. The vehicle has lost power while I was driving on the city streets. I was stalled at the stop light and had to leave the vehicle on the side of the road abandoned. The vehicle jerks and loses power every time it's driven now.

Electronic Stability Control problem #37

"seat-belt light/takata recall, it seems that my VIN number is not listed among the vehicles recalled but my airbag lights have been coming on and off as well as seatbelt lights and I believe that the two systems are linked and should be investigated for security reasons, the lights came on as the vehicle was in slow motion as I was attempting to park. I would like to have the parts replaced, especially if the airbags are manufactured by takata or another manufacturer.

Electronic Stability Control problem #38

Fourth wheel speed sensor was replaced today. The car has about 27,000 miles. The first sensor failed when the car was about 2 1/2 years old. The fact that all four wheel speed sensor have failed suggests to me a design or manufacturing flaw. It is a safety issue in that the abs, stability control, and cruise control are disabled when this happens.

Electronic Stability Control problem #39

My 2007 BMW 328i is having red steering wheel warning displayed on dash. I have read around the internet and this seems to be a common problem with BMW. Requires the entire steering column be replaced. This is a major safety issue if a person needs to start the car and is unable to start it because of a faulty latch and lever. A simple google search of "BMW steering wheel lock" brings up hundreds of pages and videos of people having issues with their vehicles. The light on my car is a steering wheel lock red. I checked my battery and it works perfectly fine. The problem is a faulty steering lock. The certified BMW dealer that sold the vehicle said this is normal of Bmws. Normal meaning they know it will eventually go bad and the steering column has to be replace to correct it. What, the steering column has to be replaced. At some point the vehicle will go into a no start mode per BMW to prevent a steering wheel lock from engaging while operating. This is unethical and cost the consumer around 1500 us dollars to correct.

Electronic Stability Control problem #40

Vehicle stalls twice (2 times) all of a sudden while it is in motion. Vehicle lost power completely without warning. Both incidents happened when vehicle is traveling at 20-25 mph. Almost caused an accident on latest incident. First stall happened at 99500 miles and 2nd stall happened at 100340 miles. There was no light indicator warning or signs or distress on engine before power was completely lost. Car stalled immediately and had to be restarted.

Electronic Stability Control problem #41

While driving back from gulf shores alabama my headlights started flickering on and off while driving on the highway the power went off on the radio lights on the dashboard went off the steering wheel locked up and an sos button came on. The windshield wipers stopped and it was torrential rains and total darkness on interstate 75. When I could see well enough to get over to the brim I googled the codes that were flashing and was given further instruction on how to get my car started again. The headlights flickering on and off and visibility ( with the rain ) was impossible. Several various codes continued to pop up and this happened until we arrivd at our destination. It was if the whole computer board had gone haywire . Every code imaginable came on and we had to stop to figure out what to do to get the car going. Since then my BMW will not start unless the battery is charged. It says battery discharging or battery was disconnected so I have to keep battery cables with me at all times. So last night I'm having the airbag code come on which I do have a recall on that, as well. I have taken several pictures of the various codes involved which I will attach.

Electronic Stability Control problem #42

Takata recall on December 25, 2015 at approximately 5:20 a. M. My 2010 328i BMW skidded off hwy 99 southbound going towards lax. Vehicle skidded as caused by the black ice on road, resulting in us crashing into the left guard rail. My mother and I felt the entire impact of vehicle . I, as the driver, hit my head on the driver side window causing severe whiplash and a sprained neck. I had to crawl out of the vehicle because I was trapped inside, due to impact of crash being on the left side of vehicle. Once chp arrived, my car was towed off the hwy. The BMW's airbags did not deploy at the time of impact causing me severe neck and head injuries. I was traveling 65 mph, no higher than speed limit. Want to know why airbags did not deploy and if my neck and head injuries could have been avoided . I have hospital documents if necessary.

Electronic Stability Control problem #43

I was driving and my car completely shut off as I coasted down the road with absolutely no brakes at all. I was terrified. There was no electrical power to my car at all for all of 10 mins. I almost hit the car in front of me, swerving onto a side street to let my car coast until it stopped. My car has absolutely no cold crank. This is the 3rd time this has happened and no one can fix it.

Electronic Stability Control problem #45

Light cracks, chips, defects inside of headlight housing. Vehicles are not that old and the defect tends to appear on all f30 BMW 3 series models. Could worsen over time and create visibility issues.

Electronic Stability Control problem #46

On the afternoon of November 10th, while driving, a red light with a passenger restraint system malfunction message lit up on the dashboard. I brought the car into the dealer the next day and they said they had to order the part. They were unable to turn the light off, which affected my ability to retrieve time and temperature on the dashboard reader. They had to order the part, which was replaced on November 26th. The part is called sop battery safety terminal (battery cable plus pole). I was told that the wires tested as "broken intermittently. " I was told that when this battery cable works correctly it will shut off the gas pump so that there was no danger of fire. I was concerned about driving the car even when the driver side seemed to be all right, because if gas leaked the whole car would be on fire, not just the passenger side. Since there was a recall of the airbag system, I thought this might be also related. The dealer said he had seen this before on other cars but he could not say how many. I am grateful that this could be fixed before any accident occurred.

Electronic Stability Control problem #47

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 BMW 328i convertible. The contact stated that the check engine light had and service air bag light had warning indicator had illuminated. Electronic Stability Control problem #48

I was driving my 328i in the morning on the way to work, in a residential neighborhood, traveling about 10 mph (in a school zone), when the windshield wipers suddenly came on without me turning them on. At the same time, my entire dash board control system panel and the area between the speedometer and tachometer lit up with several system error messages: 1) check control messages: control systems! drive moderately. Restraint system malfunction! transmission malfunction! cruise control malfunction! 2) pass. Restraint system: fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter. Continue to wear the safety belt. Transmisson malfunction! 3) transmission malfunction: functionality or display of gear position may malfunction. It may be possible to engage a gear without depressing brake pedal. Restraint system malfunction! 4) cruise control: cruise control malfunction. Have the system checked by your BMW center. Control systems! drive moderately. 5) control systems. Braking and dynamic-response system malfunction. Drive moderately. Avoid hard braking. Control systems! drive moderately 6) area betw speedometer/tach is lit up [e. G. Brake, abs, transmission and cruise warning symbols]. 7) the windshield wipers will not turn off as long as the car key is in the ignition. When you turn the car off, the wipers do not stop until the key is removed! the car had to be towed to the local dealership where I purchased it brand new. They say they are not aware of this problem. I also emailed BMW USA north America. My request is that you investigate these issues with BMW USA north America. Surely, they have more intelligence about the nature and scope of these types of problem and need to be transparent in advising consumers accordingly before the underlying cause of the defect leads to accidents and injuries.

Electronic Stability Control problem #49

Brake lights warning "brake light failure" keeps being displayed across the control panel. I clean the tail lights and brakes lights and the lights did illuminate properly afterwards, the warning goes away. Then the next time I get in the car a day later the control says "1 brake light failure" then the next day says "brake light failure".

Electronic Stability Control problem #53

BMW 328/2011- poor rain handling & lack of airbag(s) deploying in crash where car was totaled. I was driving in the rain and visibility was fine. My car started to hydroplane and started fishtailing, then spun out of control and into a guard rail on I-95. My airbags did not deploy. My car has been declared a "total loss. " I have had 5 cars and 2 of them were BMW 3 series. My 2007 BMW never had a problem. I've never had an accident before this one and am confident driving in the rain. I do not feel that my BMW preformed like it should have. I did not suffer "serious" injuries but am having to go to a chiroprator and get deep tissue massage twice weekly. I'm not sure if the airbags would have helped my situation (I hit my head and am having what I'm sure are "normal" problems after an auto accident. ).

Electronic Stability Control problem #54

On a rainy day, the traction control system on my 1999 BMW 328i failed under stress. I did not notice a turn on a country road and therefor went into it too fast. The traction control system first pulled me off the road onto the inside of the turn, where the vehicle lost control on the gravely shoulder. At this point the traction system may not have failed yet. However, I spun out leftward, and then to the other side. I crossed on-coming traffic, and gained control before leaving the asphalt and potentially hitting a telephone pole. However, once I had the car under control after losing traction and sliding across traffic, all of a sudden, the control system threw me into a second spin that I had no control over, and I ended up going backwards against traffic. The system wanted to go backwards. I worked so hard that my hands were bleeding afterwords. I know the system had failed because the traction indicator light was on, and when I turned the engine off and on again, the traction system would not turn back on (indicator light remained on) for . So the cause appears to be a design failure, not a maintenance problem, and thus replacing my system may not correct the problem. I would have died if there was oncoming traffic and then the cause would have never been known. So this incident is real, but may only occur under stress. So to determine the cause of failure, BMW must test the system under stress (I know - I am a reliability engineer). BMW will not pay to investigate or repair my car because they claim that it is only my belief that it malfunctioned, even though their own on-board monitoring system displayed a failure onto my dash board (the indicator light). It seems to be "working ok" now though (no indicator lights - system turns back on). In summary, the traction control system fails under stress and then tries to steer the car backwards. Fyi, I was completely sober returning from an athletic competition, the tires had good tread, and were inflated properly.

Electronic Stability Control problem #55

I own a 2007 BMW 328i with 21,000 miles on it. In July 2009 I was backing out of my driveway when the car lost all steering power, the accelerator no longer functioned, the check engine light came on, & the key was unable to be ejected. A BMW dealer was unable to duplicate the issue, so they said there was not a problem with the car. In Aug 2009, after turning the car on, the car began to shake and it powered down. Again, the check engine light came on, and the key was not able to be ejected. The same BMW dealership was unable to duplicate the problem, but they said they installed software updates. In sept 2010 I was driving the car and at a low speed when the car lost all steering control, the accelerator did nothing when I pushed down on it. I had to push the car out of the road. The check engine light was still on, and the key would not eject itself. Minutes later, I was able to get the key out, and after I restarted the car, the check engine light went off. (I have photos of it on). The vehicle was towed to a different BMW dealership--but once again, they were unable to resolve the issue. They tested the fuel--the fuel was fine. They told me they had incentive to find a problem with the car so that they could be paid. I have contacted BMW n. America several times, but to no avail. At one point, I asked what it would take for them to fix the car-- personal injury? property damage? the BMW rep said no--but agreed that I'd just have to wait it out and see what happens. After sending a letter to BMW n. America the customer service rep said I would need a local dealer to consent to having an engineer look at my car. He said he would contact the dealer to see if they would grant me consent. He never called. I had to call on my own and beg them to have an engineer look at my car. The engineer was unable to explain why my car keeps powering down. He did however install a software update. BMW won't help me, so my only recourse is to sell it.
