Six problems related to engine cooling system have been reported for the 2001 BMW 330. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2011

The secondary cooling fan failed causing the expansion tank on our 2001 BMW 330xi split causing the engine to overheat. We replaced the expansion tank and many related parts including thermostat. No warning lights came on. We believe this failure is close to, but not the same as, the fan failure that you reported on may 16, 2002. (02v138000 , 01v206000 ).

2 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2010

The expansion tank on our 2001 BMW 330xi split causing the engine to fail. The vehicle had less than 48,000 miles of use. We replaced the engine and many related parts including the expansion tank and radiator. No warning lights came on until after the engine overheated and the car was in the dealer's repair shop. We believe this failure is close to, but not the same as, the fan failure that you reported on may 16, 2002.

3 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2009

I was notified by a mechanic that my car's cooling system has a recall associated with it . . . For several years I have had a problem with my car overheating and would simply put antifreeze in it and proceed. Well my cooling system finally died on Jan 23, 2009 on me and my mechanic informed me that I am eligible to have my car repaired by the dealer since they had a recall several years ago for my car's make/model. I contacted BMW to inquire about recall and citedfor them the issue that I am having as well as the recall numbers associated with it. I was told they wouldnt' fix my car and that I was ineligible for the recall (the recall #'s are: 02v138000 and 01v206000).

4 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2008

The contact owns a 2001 BMW 330ci. While driving approximately 50 mph, the cooling fan motor failed. The head gasket failed, which also caused the engine to fail. The dealer stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 02v138000 (engine and engine cooling:cooling system:fan). The manufacturer stated that they would not cover any damages to the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were approximately 82,000.

5 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2004

Passenger front window came off track. Back window does not go up or down. It is obvious that other two windows will do the same very soon. This has happened throughout the life of the car. . . Too many times, too much and too often. My car is a 2001 BMW 330i, I've had a problem with my radiator resorvior, the water pump and cooling fan, the emmisions system, and my car has shut down on me while driving, usually when I am on a turn (which is very dangerous because I was at a one way stop making a right turn and almost got into an accident because the car shut down). I have almost 85k miles now and the problems continue to arise. Just got a new transmission, new lower control arm for the driver side, and the windows continue to break down every 6 months. Very disappointed in this "BMW experience"!.

6 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2001
