The contact owns a 2005 BMW 330ci. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was pulled over by law enforcement due to malfunctioning tail lights. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that he needed to pay out of pocket for the diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 11v438000 (exterior lighting). The failure mileage was approximately 44,800.
The contact owns a 2005 BMW 330i. While parked, the contact noticed that the exterior light warning gauge was illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact replaced the exterior lighting bulbs but the failure continued intermittently and became more constant over time. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number: 11v438000 (exterior lighting:brake lights). The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000. Updated 11/28/11 the consumer stated both rear lamps stopped functioning, including the tail lights and turn signals.
