All door lock actuators (including the fuel cap door cover) stopped working after driving the vehicle. The passenger and both rear doors were able to open via the inside door handle, but the driver side door could not be unlocked via the key fob, console lock button, or manually pulling the inside door handle. The fuel cap door cover could only be opened via the emergency release pull in the trunk. After inspecting the fuse box, I found that fuse 57a was blown. I replaced the fuse and the locking mechanisms started functioning again. Weeks later the same issue occurred, only replacing the fuses remedied the problem for only a day or two. The fact that the driver's side door could not be opened by any means from inside or outside the vehicle poses a severe safety risk in situations where the driver of the car needs to exit the vehicle themself or be evacuated carefully in the event of injury. There are no warnings, messages or warning signs before this occurs. This appears to be a common issue on my model and others, originating from issues with the door lock actuators. BMW even has a service information bulletin about "si b51 19 07". The fact that the driver-side door can spontaneously become unopenable from inside or outside while the driver is in the car is a huge safety risk.
BMW has issued a recall with no resolution. My engine is making noises from the crankcase and no alternative has been offered at this moment. The dealer does not want to address the issue.
The contact owned a 2006 BMW 330i. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph the air conditioning unit suddenly shutoff and smoke began to come out of the air conditioning vents. After the contact exited the vehicle flames were present coming from under the passenger side dashboard. The fire and police departments were called to the scene and the flames were extinguished. During the incident the vehicle was destroyed. A fire and police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The local dealer was notified of the incident. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 190,000.
Going through my newly purchased, used 2006 330xi, I found several warnings for front headlight malfunctions. Further investigation showed adaptive functions were disabled and the left low beam was stuck pointing left. While the bulbs themselves were still functioning, the light was pointed directly at oncoming traffic and did not illuminate the road in front of me. Opening the access panel at the rear of the headlight assembly showed multiple bare wires inside of the sealed housing, the insulation had simply started to flake off of the wires rendering all centering and leveling functions of the light inoperable. . Air bag. Warning sensor, adaptive headlights warning, power steering leaking, brakes clumping, blower heater motor and module had to replace.
Complete loss of power, shut car off for a few minutes, when tryi g to restart vehicle noticed zero power to any components.
My car was just sitting in my driveway and my roommate noticed she said is there is your car supposed to be on fire and we went out there had to break the windows and it was already on fire and totally ruined from any repair. I didn't receive a recall until a year after it had already caught on fire. The car is totaled in my backyard. And is beyond repair because of the fire.
I have a 2006 BMW 330i e90, the VIN# is wbavb33586ps17978. My pcv valve has failed and absolutely melted through. The plastic housing is entirely melted, and the electrical connector and wires are melted through. Luckily I live in colorado and it is very cold here in February and the car did not catch on fire. I started doing research on the internet on the part and found BMW recall 17v-683. I found the attached recall document and highlighted the relevant section in green, where on page 11 ( or page 1 of the faq section) it says the recall is for e90 models produced starting in July 2006; my car was produced June 13, 2006. I called BMW customer service center and was told that my car was not in the recall and it was a coincidence that the exact same part melted, as what was being recalled for cars built only two weeks later. I don't think so. How can BMW say that because my car was built two weeks prior that they know for a fact, that a good pcv valve was installed in my car? what we do know is that the bad pcv valves are melting. And I can certainly prove that mine has melted. So, a responsible company would see this as a safety concern and not a coincidence. I guess we will see how BMW handles but since they now have documented proof that this issue affected a vehicle built prior to July, I urge them to change the recall date from July 2006 to June 2006. Beside me wanting my car repairs covered, there could be other 2006 vehicles built mid-June that will have this issue and seeing the amount of melting this did to my car, it could cause a fire in the vehicle and cause harm to innocent people. I am more than happy to take the car to a BMW dealership for them to confirm the failed/melted pcv valve. I just want my car fixed and the recall date change to June 2006 from July 2006, so that others are made aware of the danger.

I got home from an outting with friends and "passenger restraint systems malfunction" appeared on my screen. Did alittle research, my passenger seat airbag will either deploy metal shards or not deploy at all incase of an accident. Or the seatbelt will not properly engage. The dealership says they are "VIN specific" and can only do my driver side. But everybody seems to only have the passenger side problem. They have the sensor in stock that can save a life, but they don't want to do the job just because my "VIN" does not match for the recall in their computers!.
Door actuators/locking mechanisms are unresponsive to remote control. Unable to lock or unlock the vehicle from the outside, nor is it possible to lock or unlock the vehicle from the inside.
Rear exterior safety lighting does not work due to design flaw where trunk lid breaks ground wires. Recall already done on other model years. BMW skipped recall on 2006 e90s. Many consumers are still having the system short due to ground and crimp issues. Huge safety issue with potential fires and or crashes.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 BMW 330. The contact stated that the air bags and passenger side seat beat light was illuminated constantly. The VIN was not included NHTSA campaign number: 13v564000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000. Ec.
The car fails to unlock when using the central button in the car or the hand held device. Only the driver door can be opened mechanically and the locks are not accessible to pull up on the other 3 doors. My children had to climb out the drivers door or windows. Research on the web is indicating a bad fuse can cause this or actuators in the doors. Seems like a major safety hazard if everyone can't exit the car in an emergency because of a blown fuse?.
Car doors could not be unlocked if currently locked. It is really dangerous situation if car crash or fire happens.
Passenger seat airbags are disabled due to restraint detection malfunction. A message appears upon turning on the vehicle which states that due to restraint system detection fault, passenger airbags and restraint system will be turned off. Problem started as an intermittent issue and developed into a continual one. Happened for the first time in April 2014 and has continued to worsen. Car is equipped with BMW oem sport seats. This issue appears to be in line with recall from NHTSA campaign number 13v-564. However, BMW does not recognize my VIN as being a part of this recall.
Error message "fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter. There was a recall on this for models up to 2005, and selectively for 2006, per BMW.
When my car reached ~75,000 miles, the passenger restraint system malfunction notification started to appear on the center console. The message seems to convey that the airbags will not deploy in an accident. After speaking with BMW and finding out that my car falls under the recall for this exact situation. BMW refused to fix it and states that my VIN is not listed under the recall, even though the recall states that it affects 2006 3-series with sport seats (which is exactly what I have).
I found vehicle recall via internet and consumer reports. I took my car to BMW of fairfax and explained that my BMW 330i 2006 had a defective front seat air bag sensor with dashboard warning light. After they examined the sensor they confirmed that I needed to replace the airbag sensor but that my vehicle was not affected by the recall. I was charged $150 dollars for the diagnosis and told that to repair the defect would cost $ 1200.
I have a 2006 BMW 330xi sport and when a passenger sits in the car, I receive a passenger airbag malfunction light. I was told by park Ave BMW in NJ that my vehicle does not qualify under the recall. Recall id # 57362 - air bags:frontal recall date Aug 05, 2008 recall date: Aug 05, 2008 model affected: 2006 BMW 3-series summary: BMW is recalling 200,000 my 2006 3 series sport seat, my 2004-2006 5 series standard and sport seat, and my 2004-2006 x3 passenger vehicles. Depending on the manner and frequency of the front passenger's entry and exit, small cracks have developed in the mat. If this occurs, the front passenger air bags, with the exception of the head protection system, will be deactivated and the air bag warning lamp as well as the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp will be illuminated. Consequences: in this situation the front passenger air bags will not deploy even if a sufficiently severe accident would occur and occupant protection provided by the system would not be possible. Remedy: dealers will rework the front passenger seat sensor mat so that external force application to the seat does not cause a crack to the mat. The recall began on November 6, 2008. BMW will also extend the warranty on these vehicles to 10 years from first registration without any mileage limit. Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417. Potential units affected: 200000 notes: BMW of north America, llc.
My vehicle has an airbag/seatbelt light eliminated on the dash. BMW has diagnosed it as a failed passenger seat mat sensor. 2006 330i sports seats were recalled for this item in 2008. My vehicle which has sports seats was never called for the recall. The manufacturer has also extended warranty for 10 years on all 3 series models with out the sports seat option for this sensor, but for some reason they will not service my vehicle as warranty or recall work. I have talked to two separate dealerships and BMW directly. They said my only option would be to file a complaint and that the government would have to warrant a recall on this vehicle and combination of options. This does not make any sense! this is a safety concern, as of right now the vehicles airbag system on the passenger side will not function if in an accident.
