The contact owns a 2024 BMW 330i. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and shifting into reverse(r), while reversing out of a parking space, the accelerator pedal was slightly depressed and the engine revved high, and the contact slightly depressed the accelerator pedal again before the vehicle suddenly unintendedly accelerated and crashed into a stone column before coming to a stop. During the crash the vehicle sustained extensive damages to the rear passenger’s side vehicle and the door. The stone column was also damaged. No injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was first driven to the residence and then to the body shop the following day. The contact stated that the vehicle was currently at the auto body shop being repaired. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.
