Seat Belt problem #1

Passenger restraint system malfunction just came out of the blue. In the morning it was fine, in the afternoon when I went out to my car it threw this error. Other cars in the 5 and x series with the sport seats I have were also recalled for this same issue, but there is no recall for my car. Please help!.

Seat Belt problem #2

Customer rear passenger setbelt doesnt latch.

Seat Belt problem #3

After day to day use the seat belt stopped functioning. The mechanism to lock the seat belt is stuck and will not unlock to latch the seat belt properly. Ultimately the driver and passengers are unable to latch the seat belts at anytime.

Seat Belt problem #4

We took our recently purchased BMW 2006 330xi in for recalls and a few fixes. However, the BMW service center wasn't able to fix one of the issues through the recall process since it doesn't show up for our vehicle. However, everything that I read suggests that it was a recall for this make and model. We are not sure if it was supposedly addressed before we purchased the vehicle and it is now a reoccurring issue or it is a first-time issue. The airbag/seatbelt warning light is present for passenger seat occupancy detector faults. The BMW service center said it was the sensor in the front passenger seat and offered to fix it for $1000 plus. We opted to not fix it until we checked further into the situation. The light for the passenger airbag saying that it is off is currently lit, and the airbag/seatbelt light remains on at this time. Looking for more information on this issue.

Seat Belt problem #5

Passenger restraint malfunction warning and passenger air bag turned off.

Seat Belt problem #6

Few miles after starting to drive error icon was shown on the display showing airbag icon and seatbelt icon. Was able to display the error code: cc-id 97. The front passenger seat was occupied. The car was in motion when the error was triggered, at about 25 mph on city streets.

Seat Belt problem #7

There is a problem regarding the airbag warning lamp and the mrs system. Nhtsa recall 10025849 covers vehicles produced from 8/31/05 to 4/26/06. My car was produced in 6/2006 (just two months later) and is having the same problem but is not covered by the recall.

Seat Belt problem #8

The 2 rear seat belts (not the middle one) became detached at the connection point at the top of the seat. The belts appear to have been torn or severed as if they were cut at the point where they are attached.

Seat Belt problem #9

The contact owns a 2006 BMW 330xi. While driving various speeds, the passenger side air bags and seat belt warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (sun motor cars BMW, 6691 carlisle pike, mechanicsburg, PA 17050; (717) 697-2300) where it was diagnosed that the passenger seat belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer stated that the VIN was not part of a recall and the contact had to pay for the repair. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

Seat Belt problem #10

Passenger restraint system. Fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter. The airbag stays off even after having a passenger on the front passenger seat. I also get a seatbelt sign even if the seatbelt is worn by the passenger. Went to dealer asking for $200 to check problem and $500 to repair.

Seat Belt problem #11

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 BMW 330xi. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the air bag and seat belt warning light remains illuminated. The contact was concerned that the air bag might deploy in the event of a crash. The vehicle was taken to BMW of richfield located at 746 danbury rd, ridgefield, CT 06877 (203) 438-0471 where it was diagnosed that the seat occupancy needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number:16v071000 (air bags). The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number:13v564000 and 17v428000 (air bags) front seat occupant protection mat defect and was referred to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileages was 123,000. Aw.

Seat Belt problem #12

I got home from an outting with friends and "passenger restraint systems malfunction" appeared on my screen. Did alittle research, my passenger seat airbag will either deploy metal shards or not deploy at all incase of an accident. Or the seatbelt will not properly engage. The dealership says they are "VIN specific" and can only do my driver side. But everybody seems to only have the passenger side problem. They have the sensor in stock that can save a life, but they don't want to do the job just because my "VIN" does not match for the recall in their computers!.

Seat Belt problem #13

This BMW had a recall, we bought this car from a dealer ship March 2016, seatbelt and air bag light just came on. BMW should check this out at no cost and the recall should not be closed or there should be an exception when you buy a used BMW. It's a hazard if the air bag does not deploy or the seatbelt does not work.

Seat Belt problem #14

Driver seat belt is loose and does not retract all the way. It still enages in locked mode but it is very loose and needs to be manually pulled onto my chest to feel snug and secured.

Seat Belt problem #15

Recently the airbag and seat belt sensor indicated a failure. I can attribute such failure to a defective sensor (placed in the seat mat). When I contacted BMW USA, they refused to include my vehicle in the recall (campaign wbavd33526kv61717). I would appreciate the nhts / dot to investigate expanding the recall to all e90 / 2006 BMW 330xi not just models produced after 12/ 2005. I took delivery of my vehicle in 11/2005. Thank you, steven a. Snyder.

Seat Belt problem #16

Drivers side seat belt buckle/tensioner failed and would not hold onto seatbelt. This caused the seatbelt alarm to sound as well as deactivate the drivers side airbag.

Seat Belt problem #17

Air bag and seat belt warning lights (red) came on indicating restraint systemn failure. Batter changed three months ago. Car taken in to shop and system "reset" thinking it was due to the battery being replaced. Both air bag and seat belt warning lights have come back on. My mechanic told me there had been a recall for this problem and suggested I contact dealer. Called BMW of monrovia, CA and was informed that my vehicle id number was not listed for the recall. Since there have been so many complaints listed, should BMW issue a recall before someone is killed and not after a death as usually happens?.

Seat Belt problem #18

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 BMW 330i. The contact stated that the seatbelt light remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure was 112,000. Ad.

Seat Belt problem #19

Airbag warning came on and after research found a recall. I contacted BMW and they claim my VIN is not one of the affected by the recall, which appears to be a trend. Please assist in finding a solution to this extremely critical safety system.

Seat Belt problem #20

The contact was aware of NHTSA campaign number: 14v428000 (air bags); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.

Seat Belt problem #21

The contact owns a 2006 BMW 330xi. The contact stated that the front passenger side seat belt sensor and air bag warning indicator illuminated, which indicated that the front passenger side air bag system was faulty. The failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect, but no remedy was offered. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v564000 (air bags), although the vehicle experienced the same defect listed in the recall. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 150,000.

Seat Belt problem #22

Pass. Restraint system fault in passanger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter. Continue to wear the safety belt. Restraint system malfunctioning!.

Seat Belt problem #23

I have an error message telling me that there is a "restraint malfunction" on my passenger seat. It warns me that my passenger side airbag will not deploy in case of an accident.

Seat Belt problem #24

The contact owns a 2006 BMW 330i. The contact stated that the driver's side seat belt sensor was illuminated indicating a defect with the seat belt. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the seat belt sensor had malfunctioned. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 08v384000(air bags). The failure mileage was 74,000.

Seat Belt problem #25

Error message "fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter. There was a recall on this for models up to 2005, and selectively for 2006, per BMW.

Seat Belt problem #26

I am an owner of a 2006 BMW 330xi and the airbag and seatbelt lamps have been on/off on my car since last November. Since this car model has a recall relating to airbag and seatbelt, I am wondering why I have not received any "recall letter" so I can present it to the BMW dealership in order to get the problem ifxed. Thank you.

Seat Belt problem #27

Passenger side air bag error consistent with front passenger seat pressure mat recall notice. BMW online recall check revealed that this vehicle identification number was not included in the recall.

Seat Belt problem #28

Passenger side air bag error consistent with front passenger seat pressure mat recall notice. BMW online recall check revealed that this vehicle identification number was not included in the recall.

Seat Belt problem #29

The following message (fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt force limiter) appeared on the display immediately after starting the car. Every time the car is started the warning appears. The warning remains as long as the car is running. This car has sport seats. Dealer service department claims this is not covered by the previous recall.

Seat Belt problem #30

My car began displaying a "passenger restraint failure" identical to the recall in 2008 (BMW id#57362 NHTSA id# 08v384000). I have the exact model and trim (2006 330i with sport package) as the recall, but upon contacting BMW of north America, they stated my vehicle's VIN 'does not qualify' for the recall. I find this ridiculous, as it is a known defect (thus the recall) for the model and trim (sport seats) that are in my car. This is a clear safety defect but BMW refuses to repair it. Instead, I am facing an $800 repair which is unconscionable. I should not have to pay to repair a known safety defect with the car! BMW recall id # 57362 - air bags:frontal recall date Aug 05, 2008 recall date: Aug 05, 2008 model affected: 2006 BMW 3-series summary: BMW is recalling 200,000 my 2006 3 series sport seat, my 2004-2006 5 series standard and sport seat, and my 2004-2006 x3 passenger vehicles. Depending on the manner and frequency of the front passenger's entry and exit, small cracks have developed in the mat. If this occurs, the front passenger air bags, with the exception of the head protection system, will be deactivated and the air bag warning lamp as well as the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp will be illuminated. Consequences: in this situation the front passenger air bags will not deploy even if a sufficiently severe accident would occur and occupant protection provided by the system would not be possible. Remedy: dealers will rework the front passenger seat sensor mat so that external force application to the seat does not cause a crack to the mat. The recall began on November 6, 2008. BMW will also extend the warranty on these vehicles to 10 years from first registration without any mileage limit. Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417. Potential units affected: 200000 notes: BMW of north America, llc.

Seat Belt problem #31

The airbaig system light and seatbelt light illuminated unexpectedly after driving for a short distance. No modifications have ever been made to the vehicle, as I am the original owner. I received a recall notice from the factory regarding the "passenger seats air bag component failure" but no further claims of responsibility. I received an additional warranty for failure in the passenger seat air bag system, but none covering the entire safetey system, which I believe to be the case for my vehicle. I project that I will be charged for a safety system failure that is not an any way, shape or form to be my responsibility. Please address this issue.

Seat Belt problem #32

Has an airbag/seat belt light eliminated on the dash. BMW has diagnosed it as a failed passenger seat sensor. 2006 330i sports seats were recalled for this item in 2008. BMW recall id # 57362 - air bags: frontal recall date Aug 05, 2008 recall date: Aug 05, 2008 model affected: 2006 BMW 3-series summary: BMW is recalling 200,000 my 2006 3 series sport seat, my 2004-2006 5 series standard and sport seat, and my 2004-2006 x3 passenger vehicles. Seat Belt problem #33

The sensor in the passenger seat is malfunctioning causing the computer to disable the passenger airbag. This was a recall on other vehicles of the same model and year, but BMW north America is stating that my VIN is not part of the recall. This is a major saftey issue that can cause serious injury or death!.

Seat Belt problem #34

I have a passenger restraint system malfunction problem. I went to BMW dealership last week. But they told me my car is not on campaign so I have to fix out of my pocket. However, as I found on the recall list like below vehicle make / model: model year(s): BMW / 3 series 2006 BMW / 5 series 2004-2006 BMW / x3 2004-2006 summary: BMW is recalling 200,000 my 2006 3 series sport seat, my 2004-2006 5 series standard and sport seat, and my 2004-2006 x3 passenger vehicles. My point is what is different my car series and above 3 series why my car is not belong to under warranty. It is exactly the same issue. I do not understand why my car can't fix at dealership under warranty. If there is exception cars, I think it should clearly statement that is why or exception reason even same model. It is so inconvenience. This information is so confusing for vehicle owner. I really want to listen why my car is not on the campaign and I want to figure it out.

Seat Belt problem #35

The drivers seat belt does not retract. I have researched this issue and it is a chronic issue among BMW owners. If I do not manually push the seat belt back, it will remain loose enough that I can lean forward to touch the steering wheel. I have contacted BMW and their own response is to replace the entire belt unit, which is quite expensive. This is a serious safety issue. It will also at times get stuck in the drivers door when closing which could damage the belt even more.

Seat Belt problem #36

Vehicle was hit by another driver running a red light. The other driver centered on the driver's side front wheel but damaged the driver's side door and windshield. The driver's door airbag deployed. The driver's side airbag partially deployed. We could see hit hanging from the rear pillar to the front pillar but it was still tubular shaped and did not prevent the driver from hitting her head on the side of the car. The car was totaled. The front panel was compressed all the way to the engine compartment.

Seat Belt problem #37

For the listed 2006 BMW e90 330i, the following error message was displayed in the idrive interface. "pass. Restraint system: fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter. Restraint system malfunction!" the failure occurred with nothing occupying the passenger seat while travelling approximately 35 mph. The seatbelt, airbag, and passenger airbag warning lights remain illuminated with and without a person occupying the passenger seat and cannot be cleared. BMW was contacted and stated the VIN did not qualify for a recall of NHTSA campaign id number 08v384000 (air bags: frontal). The vehicle has not been repaired. This defect causes a severe safety risk due to possible seatbelt and airbag system failures resulting in potential fatality. Since the make, model, year, and equipment match the recall specifications; this vehicle should be included in the recall and repaired at no cost to the owner. The mileage at which the failure occurred and current mileage are approximately 86,000.

Seat Belt problem #38

After ~50,00 miles the passenger restraint system malfunction notification started to appear on the center console. The message continued to appear randomly, and now at ~70,000 miles, the message is permanently on. The message seems to convey that the airbags will not deploy in an accident. BMW has refused to fix the issue.

Seat Belt problem #39

The airbag light started to illuminate in early April of 2012. According to a local mechanic, he said the issue was related to a firing mechanism in the driver's side seat belt which has failed. The mechanic reset the airbag light, but it came back on about a month later. The mechanic stated the driver's side seatbelt latch needed to be replaced and it would cost $500. Until this issue is resolved, the airbag will not deploy. Vehicle only has 100k miles on it.

Seat Belt problem #40

The contact owns a 2006 BMW 330i sport. The contact stated that the front passenger seat mat sensor malfunctioned, causing the air bags and passenger seat belt to become inoperable. In addition, the air bag warning light was continuously illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the issue, who stated that there was not a recall for the vehicle and offered no assistance for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 94,212.

Seat Belt problem #41

My airbag warning light illuminated indicating that my passenger airbag system was offline. I brought it into my mechanic and they informed me that my passenger side airbag sensor mat and possibly my passenger seat belt sensor had failed. They informed me that the cost to repair would be approximately $700-$800 dollars. I recently received a notification that my vehicle may be subject to a recall for this issue NHTSA campaign number: 13v564000. When I contacted my dealership and Bmwna they informed me that they would not repair my vehicle until required to do so even though my airbag system has already failed and it is showing as offline. I'm registering this complaint to document that they are not actively resolving this issue.

Seat Belt problem #42

My vehicle displayed a passenger restraint system failure message. After researching the issue online, it appeared that BMW had issued a recall for this defect: NHTSA recall campaign id number: 08v384000. However, after contacting BMW, I am being told that my vehicle is not part of the recall. It seems to me that the defect extends beyond the vins that are included in the recall given that so many people are having the same issue and BMW is not honoring the warranty.

Seat Belt problem #43

Randomly while there is either weight from a bag or a person in the front passenger seat, the seatbelt light will appear on the dash and the passenger airbag off light will light up on the roof. This tells me that the airbag will not deploy even though there is someone in the seat in the event of an accident.

Seat Belt problem #44

This is in regards to NHTSA campaign number 08v-384. I called BMW abotut his recall and they stated my vehicle was not affected even though the probelm I am having and multiple others are having is for the exact same issue, condition, and description as called out in campaign number 08v-384. I did more reseach and found that BMW may not have the affected vehicles loaded correctly in their system. For example they tell you that the sport seat is not covered (which I have), but if you read the letters from BMW to nhts, many sport seats are covered. I suspect the database BMW is using to tell if a car is covered or not may not be accurate comparted to the vehicle categories listed in the NHTSA filings.

Seat Belt problem #45

After a recall on my (sport) seats was performed by the dealer, the seatbelt warning chime sounds when there is no one or nothing in the seat. It never did this before the recall was performed. The only way to get the chime to stop is to buckle the passenger belt.

Seat Belt problem #46

Seat belt malfunction. 2004 BMW with 44000 miles.

Seat Belt problem #47

Air bag warning and seat belt warning lights come on and stay on. Lights have come on and stayed on each occurrence. Have taken vechicle to dealer and shop to have light reset at least 6 times, only to have both warning lights come on again.

Seat Belt problem #48

: the contact stated that while the vehicle was under warranty it had problems with the seatbelt latch. The manufacturer was alerted who sent out a technician to observed the vehicle. The technician confirmed problms with the latch and suggested that the vehicle be taken to dealers with a service waiver signed off for repairs to the vehcile. While vehicle was being taken to the dealer, a collision with a deer was avoided by slamming on the brakes. This incident resulted in injuries to the driver's neck. When the vehicle was taken to the dealers they determined that a piece of plastic was lodged in the seatbelt causing the seatbelt to not be able to latch. The dealer offered to send the vehicle into the manufacturer for repaired. The contact traded the vehicle instead.
