3 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2006 BMW 330

Failure Date: 07/23/2012

Requesting research for recall into known issue with BMW service bulletin on door lock actuators: I was parked, and used my key remote to open the doors as I always do, but the doors would not unlock. The only one that stays unlocked (the lock does not go down when I click the alarm) is the right rear door lock. I, therefore, have to use the hard plastic emergency key (from the glove compartment) to manually unlock my driver door each time. I find this a safety issue as I sometimes work until late at night and have to fumble to get the key to unlock the front driver side. I checked to see if there was a recall on this, and there was not, but what I did find, were quite a large number of complaints about this issue on a variety of BMW models, older and newer. Some BMW owners reported that they were stuck in their cars, because the doors would not unlock from the inside, so passengers (such as my mother had to do several times) have to climb around in the car to climb out of the only door that opens. I also discovered there was a service bulletin notice on this issue. The owners whose factory warranty has run out are still having to pay out of pocket to have this issue repaired. Many are attempting to learn from do-it-yourself websites to avoid the cost of repairing this issue. Please can you research and make this a recall, it is highly uncomfortable to have passengers climbing in by adjusting seats and climbing out because of this door lock actuator known issue, that has been occurring for years in BMW cars. 7 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2003 BMW 330

Failure Date: 01/05/2012

The doors on our bmx 330xi will lock and we cannot unlock them from the inside or the outside using the interior or exterior door handles or the key fob. My wife and kids had to climb out of the windows to get out of the vehicle. If there was an accident they would have been trapped. I called the BMW dealer and they told me to have it towed and they would take a look at it. This has happened several times and it is an extreme safety issue. I have researched it and it appears to be a very common problem on the 300 series. It has happened a few times and then the problem goes away. I hope no one gets hurt because they get trapped in their vehicle. Thank god that my family was physically able to climb out of the windows ,if they were elderly or disabled they would have been trapped. This is an extremely dangerous safety defect that needs to be investigated, addressed and remedied by the manufacturer.

18 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2002 BMW 330

Failure Date: 08/30/2010

BMW 2002 330i 4 door sedan. The rain gutters surrounding both the rear passenger doors have come loose and prevent the doors from closing tight. The warning light on the dash comes on because the doors will not fully close. BMW service confirms that the adhesive hold the gutter clips in place fails as do the clips themselves. In a conversation with BMW they call this wear and tear and refuse to repair the gutters! it is a safety issue when the rear doors can not be properly closed. No death or injury yet but the potential is certainly there. BMW suggested replacing the gutters for $450. Which according to them is the only "cure" for the failure. This safety failure should be a recall.
