2 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 BMW 330

Failure Date: 03/24/2024

My 2018 BMW 330i has the same problem that the recall for the fuel sensor level on 2018 BMW m5! I broke down on the side of the interstate and had it towed to BMW and they said it was the fuel sensor reading more than it should and wanted to charge almost 3,000 to fix it. There are similarities to the other recalls and my vehicle should also be included in that recall. I had to pay 300. 00 just for them looking at it. I found it odd the sensor would do that and my investigation has brought me here. There was no warning and I was stranded on the interstate.

5 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 BMW 330

Failure Date: 05/04/2022

Fuel pump leaking gas due to cracks on top of fuel pump.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2001 BMW 330

Failure Date: 03/18/2022

The bracket welds on the front of the right side fuel tank support strap pulled out while on the highway, leaving the fuel tank supported by only one strap. The bracket pulled right out of the sheet metal, leaving two holes where it was previously spot welded to. The support strap itself was hanging off its rear mount, dragging behind the car and potentially sparking. This was extremely dangerous, as the tank had just been filled, and if the tank had began to leak, the support strap may have sparked a fire. There was no symptom or warning sign of the impending failure. There are many reports of this issue from other BMW e46 owners. Fuel tanks should not separate from the car under normal driving conditions. The car has been in southern California its entire life, and there is zero evidence of rust or poor maintenance. Records of the car's maintenance history have been meticulously maintained. This is dangerous and has been reported many times. Please make BMW own up to this poor design and potentially save someone's life.

7 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 BMW 330

Failure Date: 02/21/2022

In Feb 2022 my vehicle reported low coolant and later the engine overheating. At one point the accelerator pedal became less effective and the car significantly slowed down while on the highway. After refilling the car's engine coolant and still getting alerts, I brought the vehicle to the BMW auto shop where it was determined there was an active coolant leak from the hose of the cylinder head expansion tank. The hose was then replaced. Today I visited the same BMW auto shop where they reported an open recall on this exact issue, yet I do not see an open recall on this site. Please investigate as others may be having this faulty equipment safety issue with risk of engine overheating/fire.

8 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 BMW 330

Failure Date: 01/20/2022

On January 19, 2022 I was driving and then smoked filled inside my car and the outside engine was smoking and a light came on that said check coolant. BMW service took me in that day and they said my coolant broke. They removed it and replaced it. They did not understand how the coolant broke but I paid for the service and parts and moved forward. On November 25, 2022 I went into the same BMW service center to get a routine car service and they stated there was a recall and they would replace my coolant for free. (after I told them I paid for it ($699. 63) . They insisted I replace it for free again and reach out to BMW corporate for a reimbursement of previous service. I received a call yesterday stating they would not replace it and reach out and file a report with nhta.

9 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 BMW 330

Failure Date: 01/12/2022

Coolant fluid exits from the expansion tank into the overflow leaving no fluid in the expansion tank. Then it causes and overflow/steam to burst out of the overflow tank. Then the coolant is low notification comes on which warrants to replace the coolant fluid. Took it to a few BMW dealers. They've did a flush, replace expansion tank, and water pump, also tested the pressure several times at 2 different BMW dealerships. I leave the dealership broker and with the same problem starting again within that week. This has been a constant issue which never seems to be fixed by any BMW dealer.

10 Other Fuel System problem of the 2001 BMW 330

Failure Date: 07/23/2021

Gas tank strap that holds up the gas tank tore off on the part that is supposed to be welded on the car. One end is bolted on, the other has a welded bracket. That bracket broke off and my gas tank and bracket were dragging until I pulled off of the road. Luckily the entire gas tank didn’t fall out because if it would have, the tank would’ve broke and caused a massive spill of gas, since the tank was full of fuel. There is no warning lamps for this, a weld shouldn’t just break off, and I can’t find any replacements to fix it or replace it at all.

11 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 BMW 330

Failure Date: 03/23/2021

We had a 2017 BMW 330i x-drive. It had approximately 67000 miles. The car stalled while driving about 6 times. The first time was in 3/2021. The diagnostics were for a faulty high pressure fuel pump. We replaced the hpfp. It stalled again while driving. The diagnostics were for a faulty low pressure fuel pump. We replaced this. The car then stalled while driving 2 more times. The car stalled again in 10/2021, and we towed it to the dealer, who diagnosed a problem with the electric fuel pump control unit. , which the dealer replaced. We brought the car home for one day, and we had the same problem again. We brought the car back to the BMW dealer, who diagnosed a problem with the vanos system. The BMW peabody dealer directed us to BMW corporate for evaluation of available warranties and rebates given the nature of the problem (vanos) being warranted under the California sulev emissions standards and the fact that they dealer had diagnosed a separate problem the day before. We sent the diagnostics and the sulev warranty info to sean, as everyone at BMW seemed unaware of its existence and who was responsible for following it. He took weeks “looking into it,” and the dealer repaired the vanos during this time without a final answer from corporate. A car stopping while driving is clearly dangerous to the occupants and surrounding vehicles. BMW did not honor the sulev warranty, which clearly covers the vanos and the fuel pumps until 70000 miles. The car was traded to BMW peabody, as we no longer felt safe driving it. We do not know if the replacement of the vanos fixed the problem.

13 Other Fuel System problem of the 2001 BMW 330

Failure Date: 01/14/2018

The spark plugs and coils that where installed in my BMW at the BMW service center did not work proplerly or where installed properly they didn't even give me a warranty time frame it only ran 4,000 more miles since they did a service on it my car just stoped working it wouldn't turn on anymore I don't want this happening to anyone else they put my life at risk and anyone in the car with me or around it could have just stoped in the middle of the street but thankfully I was at a parking lot I just would like the BMW service center to be more cautious about what they do and to repair my car the right way they used parts that stoped working.

14 Other Fuel System problem of the 2002 BMW 330

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

Three of the six fuel injectors started leaking at the body/wiring terminals. One injector was leaking enough to witness a frequent drip (approximately one drop/second) from the body, and the other two were visibly wet (have video of this, as well). Leak occurred any time the fuel rail was pressurized or the vehicle was in operation. Smell of fuel both inside and outside the vehicle were what prompted inspection. Issue was solved by replacing all three leaky injectors with new ones (no issue for about six months now). Am concerned, not only because there are three of the original fuel injectors still on the vehicle, but because the fuel injectors may have been leaking for quite some time while still in use, only being noticed once the leak became more substantial. Was advised to report this issue here, as it is both a safety and emissions issue, and is apparently a fairly common one for this vehicle model/year.
