While traveling at approximately 20 mph, the vehicle experienced a sudden loud pop from the engine bay, immediately followed by multiple dashboard warning lights. The vehicle was safely brought to a stop, and aaa was contacted to arrange towing to the nearest available repair facility. A diagnostic inspection identified the failure of the crankshaft vibration damper. According to the repair facility, this component is essential to maintaining the structural integrity and operational balance of the engine. At the time of failure, the vehicle had approximately 37,000 miles on the odometer—well below the expected service life of such a critical part. Had this failure occurred at highway speeds, the resulting mechanical disruption could have led to a loss of engine function and increased the risk of a serious accident or death. The nature and mileage of this failure raise concerns about a potential defect or design flaw. I am requesting that the national highway traffic safety administration review this incident and consider whether similar cases have been reported. Failures of this type should be reviewed for broader safety implications.

Multiple codes came on right after I had gotten my thermostat and my water pump fixed. However it ended up being that there was more leaks throughout the rest of the car. The car has currently cost me $3400 to fix and it’s still not fixed because nobody can figure out where the actual leak is coming from. The coolant is leaking and nobody can figure out where, it’s been having jerking issues since it started leaking and I read on other BMW’s that the coolant leaks into the head gasket, causing the engine to blow.

Engine wiring is made of soy products with attracts rodents to feed and destroy the wiring. When this occurs it puts the driver ad passengers in danger because certain functions such as brake light, headlights and windshield wipers may not work properly. This is becasue when the wiring is compromised , circuits are broken which causes the vehicle's systems connected to that circuit to partially or completely fail, rending a vehicle partially or completely inoperable. The vehicle was inspected the the BMW dealership service center and they confirmed it was rodent damage . Geico insurance also inspected the vehicle. The vehicle started to restrict engine performance and the engine service light came on stating there was a drive tran malfunction.

Car had 1,645 miles rear left axle broke. Car would not move. Had this occurred on a highway I easily could have been rear ended. Part must have been defective, dealer replaced the part left rear cv joint but not the right, nor did the dealer confirm both rear axles were not from the same batch. The failure was catastrophic and sudden with no warnings.

We had a 2017 BMW 330i x-drive. It had approximately 67000 miles. The car stalled while driving about 6 times. The first time was in 3/2021. The diagnostics were for a faulty high pressure fuel pump. We replaced the hpfp. It stalled again while driving. The diagnostics were for a faulty low pressure fuel pump. We replaced this. The car then stalled while driving 2 more times. The car stalled again in 10/2021, and we towed it to the dealer, who diagnosed a problem with the electric fuel pump control unit. , which the dealer replaced. We brought the car home for one day, and we had the same problem again. We brought the car back to the BMW dealer, who diagnosed a problem with the vanos system. The BMW peabody dealer directed us to BMW corporate for evaluation of available warranties and rebates given the nature of the problem (vanos) being warranted under the California sulev emissions standards and the fact that they dealer had diagnosed a separate problem the day before. We sent the diagnostics and the sulev warranty info to sean, as everyone at BMW seemed unaware of its existence and who was responsible for following it. He took weeks “looking into it,” and the dealer repaired the vanos during this time without a final answer from corporate. A car stopping while driving is clearly dangerous to the occupants and surrounding vehicles. BMW did not honor the sulev warranty, which clearly covers the vanos and the fuel pumps until 70000 miles. The car was traded to BMW peabody, as we no longer felt safe driving it. We do not know if the replacement of the vanos fixed the problem.
On or around the first week of Dec. 2020 after filling up with gas, the car just stopped while in motion without any prior dash warning indicators. I placed the car in park and restarted the car on the first try. At that time I thought it may have been bad gas. Fast forward to Jan. 09, 2021 while pulling up to gas station car accelerates while I am applying brakes. Very scary because I could have killed someone. I put the car in park and it revved up as though my foot was on the accelerator. This has started to happen on a regular basis, although. Intermittently. Researching this issue I found this has been discussed in several BMW forums since 2002 and appears to happen in older and newer cars regardless of model types. I have maybe 165,000 miles on my car and the maintenance is very well documented and consistent.

The car was being driven by my house and the transmision started slipping as well as it catching and breaking one of the axles leaving the car to be stuck not being able to move period surely the most important thing this resulted in the car getting hit and the fuel tank exploding my aunt want not able to make it out of the car to get out of the way and again this car didn't allow the air bags to deploy the location is unkown.
Loss of power the battery dies quick and alarm system goes off randomly and the car has lost acceleration air bag needs replaced and the car makes noises.

The automatic transmission takes a long time to engage when shifted into drive but once it gets going, it shifts smoothly. I spoke to a technician and there is no known fix for it.

The contact owns a 2001 BMW 330i. The contact stated that all attempts to shift into reverse failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was confirmed that the d-g clutch drum needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure but did not provide any assistance due to the vehicle not being included in any recalls. The approximate failure and current mileage was 70,000. . . . I bought my BMW 330i e46 2002 5 years ago and noticed the check engine light come on after the first drive. After taking it in to the mechanic I was told the code that threw the light on was (p0741). I have done my research and have determined that this is a widespread problem for these cars. The results have been horrible gas milage, hard shifting at times and most likely shortened transmission life. This problem as has cause my car to not be able to pass smog!.
2001 330i BMW. Consumer states problems with reverse in transmission.
My 2001 BMW 300i stopped going in reverse last Wednesday. Apparently, this is a known issue, as I was very suprised to see dozens of websites dedicated to this no reverse issue. How come there was no recall for this common failure?.
My transmission, will not work in reverse. The car just revs, and goes nowhere. This is a common problem, and still BMW does not recall these cars. 4200. 00 plus labor, for a remanufactured one from dealer. I am done with BMW.
