Steering Problems of BMW 330

Not sure what malfunction part but car steering locked up. Could not steer the car. Brakes failed. Car accelerator engaged. Car slammed into pole. Car is totaled I only had it less than 3 weeks. BMW 3 series 2024.

The car started to make a popping noise and then the collision warning light, steering light and pedestrian warning lights came on and the steering became very tight. The electric steering became manual. Yes problem has been reported to braman BMW jupiter as well as BMW USA.

Driving at 40mph an alert error for steering and braking warning came up and stalled the car to zero mph. A review of other internet complaints on BMW owners was similar. Why is this not a recall?.

While driving about 50mph I slowed down to make a right turn and during the turn the steering wheel stopped half way during a full rotation and locked up preventing me from making a full right hand turn. Once parked I attempted to turn the steering wheel to the right and it stopped halfway through the turn again.

1st time out car veered into oncoming traffic on a recently paved macadam street. Turn signal was on. Steering wheel locked. Had car towed to local BMW service center. Picked it up a few days later. Same thing happened on my drive home on a concrete roadway. Daytime, clear weather both events. Drove right back to the service center, left the car there and told the dealer to pick it up.

I had been using the car regularly driving to and from work. Randomly the yellow light pops up of the steering lock sign then a couple days later the car shuts down and the light turns red. The car then would not start. There was nothing I could do the car was parked at my work and was forced to get it towed to BMW.

While driving the car on a normal speed 35-40 m/ hour , the steering wheel locked and the car crashed into the telephone poll. I got major damage to the front body ( the whole front bumper and hood got really smashed in) I also damaged the arm control and the alignments of the vehicle.

Steerring locks up.

The message 'steering wheel lock' came up and the car will not start. I had to pay to bring it home. BMW says 'it happens to some customers' and they asked me to bring the car to a service center for repair. I see a lot of discussions in forums about this issue. Apparently it is due to a defective lock mechanism.

The contact owns a 2006 BMW 330xi. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the steering lock mechanism had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. The VIN was not available.

I went to start my BMW 330i and a warning indicator came up and said there was a steering lock malfunction. It said to move the steering wheel and start the car. I tried and tried to start the car but it just kept saying the same thing. The temperature outside was below freezing. I waited a while and tried again and it started. There are several complaints about this issue and it needs to be a recall.

Parked at airport 6am Feb 8 2012, left for overnight trip. Got back next morning Feb 9th 2012 at 10:30am. Put key in car pressed brake to start and would not start. Got 'electric steering wheel lock' error on I drive system and an yellow/amber error symbol with a steering wheel and a lock. Numerous and numerous reports about this happening on BMW e90's worldwide.

Tl - the contact owns a 2006 BMW 330i. The contact stated that the electrical steering wheel lock warning lamp illuminated, preventing the vehicle from being started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the steering wheel lock system needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 138,320. Kmj.

I have an amber colored steering wheel lock icon on the dashboard. I took it to the dealer and they said it is not safe to drive it because this will lock up the steering wheel. I told them if that's the case then there should be a recall and unfortunately there hasn't been one. Hopefully everyone who has had this issue files a complaint with the NHTSA as this is a very serious problem and one that needs to be addressed by BMW na.

Steering wheel lock is on which prevents the car from starting even after moving the steering wheel and inserting/removing the key fob in the key slot. This is a known issue and as well as a safety issue. Numerous people from BMW forums have reported the same problem and BMW won't do anything about it.

A knocking noise was coming from the front end whenever going over small bumps. Vehicle was taken in for tire rotation. While tires were being rotated, the technician noticed a lot of play in the front wheels. Upon further investigation, the ball joint that connects the front wheel assembly was extremely worn out causing approximately 6 inches of play in the front left wheel. The technician checked the right wheel and noticed that it too was becoming very worn. The technician told me that if this would have failed completely while driving, I would have lost control of the vehicle. Left front lower control arm assembly replaced by technician at owners cost. Owner contacted BMW about a recall concerning the lower control arms on 3 series Bmws, and they said my vehicle was not under recall.

Car pulls severely when braking and mildly to moderately when driving. Have asked for alignment and had alignment checked several times but told that car is not out of alignment.

The steering wheel electronic lock on the 2006 BMW 330i is defective. The steering wheel lock prevents the car from being started and even with the appropriate key, etc. It locks in error. This occurs on every attempt to start the car with the key in the ignition. This part should be recalled as their is a defective component in the vehicle.
