My 2019 BMW 330i experienced a serious malfunction. The car intermittently blacked out upon pressing the start engine button, and then it began accelerating on its own without pressing the accelerator pedal. This occurred multiple times, and the issue has not been resolved or explained by the service center, which has resulted in a significant safety concern. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? it appears that the issue might be related to the car's ignition and acceleration system. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the car began accelerating on its own without pressing the accelerator pedal. This could be extremely dangerous if it happened while driving, as it could lead to loss of control and a potential accident. Fortunately, I was parked when this occurred. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? BMW mountain view, CA service center were not able to reproduce it. They just changed the 12v battery but were not able to provide concrete reason or reproduce the issue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? the vehicle has been inspected by the service center but not by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. Despite multiple requests from both myself and the dealership for further examination, BMW north America is not willing to involve their engineering team. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? there were no warning lamps or messages prior to the issue. This situation could have been very serious if the unintended acceleration happened while driving. I was fortunately parked at the time and did not try to put the car in gear to avoid any potential accidents.

While backing out of a short driveway and placed t to drive, the vehicle revved and started speeding out of control with brakes applied. The vehicle sideswiped a neighbors vehicle before crashing head on into a tree causing it to stop. I had jerked up the emergency brake and ripped the key out of the ignition. The replaced airbags did not deploy.

The car's cruise control's rocker switch got stuck causing the vehicle's speed to increase continually. The rocker switch allows driver to increase or decrease speed when the cruise control is activated. The rocker switch permits speed increase in increments of 1 mph or 5 mph. If pressed up until a resistance point, the speed increases by 1 mph; if pressed beyond the resistance point, it increases by 5 mph. In my instance, I was on cruise control at 61 mph (in a 55 zone, where traffic was also moving in the 60's). I wanted to increase speed by 3-4 mph using the rocker switch to safely complete an overtake. However, the rocker switch got stuck and caused the car's peed to increase past 80mph. I almost missed hitting the car ahead of me.

When I was driving on suburban roads with speed limit of 45 mph, I received a waring from my vehicle saying "engine high temperature, drive moderately". After sometime, it said "engine overheated stop carefully". During the first warning, I felt loss of acceleration power and during the second warning I felt completely no power in acceleration that too when I was yielding for a left turn which was life threatening, luckily the oncoming traffic slowed down. Otherwise I would have ended up in life threatening crash. During both warnings, I checked the engine temperature gauge in the instrument cluster and the engine temperature was not even 50% of the maximum temperature in the gauge. After the warning, I slowly made it to a nearby parking lot and opened the hood and did not physically feel any excessive heat for an engine not to function. I regularly service my vehicle and my vehicle is not due for any kind of service for the next 2000 mile as per the onboard vehicle status. The next day I started the vehicle to help it to climb the tow truck ramp and at that time, for the very first time I received a warning saying engine coolant is very low. I have never received this warning since I have owned the car until then. I have two concerns, 1. The temperature gauge did not show a high temperature, only 24 hours after the electronic engine high heat notification, the low coolant warning came in which is weird and my vehicle isn't due for any service. 2. None of the above should result in a sudden loss of acceleration power which could have resulted in a fatal crash in my case. I'm a mechanical engineer with a strong background in automotive occupant safety (airbags/seatbelts) and that's why I see this a very serious incident that needs to be looked into so that it doesn't occur for anyone else in the future.

Water pump keeps going bad 2nd time replacing in 2 years rough idle and failed part problems that BMW service team does not understand. Vehicle has stalled at 0 rpm im thinking there is an issue with the engine also reported by previous owner and I also have the same complaints, as well the foot release which I was was told was an option never worked. Please search VIN wba8b9g36hnu54119 for all incident reports with this vehicle.
On or around the first week of Dec. 2020 after filling up with gas, the car just stopped while in motion without any prior dash warning indicators. I placed the car in park and restarted the car on the first try. At that time I thought it may have been bad gas. Fast forward to Jan. 09, 2021 while pulling up to gas station car accelerates while I am applying brakes. Very scary because I could have killed someone. I put the car in park and it revved up as though my foot was on the accelerator. This has started to happen on a regular basis, although. Intermittently. Researching this issue I found this has been discussed in several BMW forums since 2002 and appears to happen in older and newer cars regardless of model types. I have maybe 165,000 miles on my car and the maintenance is very well documented and consistent.
When I was driving the car on high way yesterday afternoon, about 6 pm (Jan 20, 2020) in left most lane, the car's all led dashboard completely shutdown (black) and engine stoped. I had to slowly move the car the the road side and tried to restart the engine. The engine started with lots of warning signs.
Was on a road trip, drove 600 miles previous day. Next day evening, pirelli run flat tire blows out on a freeway. I had just passed the toll plaza and was accelerating to merge with the traffic. Run flat reinforced sidewalls should've allowed the tires to be usable even at 0 psi but I experienced severe vibration coming through the chassis, car pulling to the left and emitting a terrible grinding noise that felt terrible and unsafe to drive. Despite appearing fine at first glance, the tire was actually severely damaged. The inner sidewall had a large gash. The car was finally towed to a BMW service station and the only option was to replace the tire. In the meantime, the BMW idrive infotainment display said I could safely drive 50 mph for 50 miles.
