general problems of the 2008 BMW 335

Six problems related to service brakes have been reported for the 2008 BMW 335. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2015

Car pulls violently to the right under *initial wet braking*, at all speeds. Subsequent braking tracks straight ahead, until brakes get wet again. No standing water, no tire tread or inflation issues, no alignment issues. This problem is apparently well-known in the internet forums, and has been for several years, yet BMW has neither acknowledged the problem, or made a fix available. This is a potentially deadly problem, resulting in unpredictable behavior at the worst-possible moment. *contact me for more information!* problem has been observed sign day one with this car -- but only in wet weather (so, it surfaced again last night, during the first rainstorm of the season).

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2013

Complete failure of abs pump and stability control with only 29000 miles. Cost to repair this basic safety system over $2900.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2013

While driving on the freeway at approximately 75 miles/hr, the engine suddenly dropped down speed drastically (felt like someone down shifted the car) and started to shake and rumble. Try to step on the gas, but the car won't respond in speeding car; try to step on the break, the car won't stop either. Completely lost control of the car for about 5 seconds. Then, the car suddenly shifted back it it's normal gear and was able to drive normally. Read the temperature of the engine oil, the temperature was on "0". This is the 2nd incident.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2013

This is the 1st incident. Driving like usual, up a hill at approximately 45 miles per hour then let go of gas and brake to let the car go down the hill itself. Suddenly, the car sounded like it has shifted and at the same time speed up by itself. Thought I switched to manual drive, so try to switch back, but no switches was mad. Try to step on the brake, the car would not stop. So, try to switch from auto to manual drive, car still has no reaction. Step on the brake forcefully to have the car stop. Thank goodness this was late at night so no car was behind or in front of me.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2011

Abs hydraulic unit failure. Many BMW vehicles over the past 10 years have had various issues with their BMW abs systems. This is a serious safety issue. Per BMW member sites and the fact that BMW put out a repair kit for the problems should confirm that a lot of BMW autos have this abs problem. The repair/ replacement is $4000. 00 on average and I fear people can't afford that and are driving with no abs and most times traction control, I myself still haven't fixed mine due to the expense. Local BMW says out of warrenty, too bad ; but no way a $50k car has this big a defect under 50,000 miles. Please look into this.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2010

The brake system seems to have lost its three press boost. After about 2 years, upon starting the car (2008 BMW 335xi auto) the press on the brake is stiff. It is stiff becauseit seems to have loss the 3 press boost. The boost that is supposed to protect the driver in case of engine failure. No other care I have owned leaks out its boost overnight. BMW admitted that the brake check valve was bad and replaced it with a newly designed part. I asked what this new design was and they could not tell me. I read online that many people have had this issue which starts with a stiff brake pedal then it degrades into the system not being able to start the car. BMW to their credit immediately found another part and loaned me a car in the meantime. The loaned car however did not show this stiff pedal issue. The new part they put in after about 1 month started to lose boost in the mornings off and on. I brought it in and they said this is normal? I"m worried that if I lose engine function going down a hill somewhere that they three press boost won't be their for me if we allow it to get worse. Suffice to say, once the engine starts you get the normal power assisted braking; however, this does not address the engine off three brake press safety requirement.
