Tail Light Switch problems of the 2009 BMW 335

Three problems related to tail light switch have been reported for the 2009 BMW 335. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

Both my rear tail lights are malfunctioning and BMW is well aware that the contacts or worn out and need replacing. There is even a service bulletin about it yet my service advisor claimed I had to replace both taillight assemblies at $200 apiece. My bumper-to-bumper warranty through BMW does not cover taillights this is a big safety issue as my tail light intermittently work.

2 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

The contact owns a 2009 BMW 335i. The contact stated that the rear driver's side tail light would only illuminate intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician stated that the tail light electrical contact points may had damage the ground terminal and housing of the connector. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in recall NHTSA campaign number: 13v407000 (exterior lighting). The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

3 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2014

Intermittent failure of led's in the driver side rear tail light for the turn signal. First started about 7 months ago. Now nearly full time failure. Creates a serious safety concern when changing lanes and making turns in traffic. This is a very common complaint with numerous posts on the web.
