Lose Power Steering Problems of BMW 335

Whilst driving vehicle, battery warning light, brake warning lights came on. Vehicle lost all power steering, and was impossible to drive. After visit to dealership, appears that harmonic balancer was completely broken off, in turn, taking out various belts, including the belts that power a/c and most importantly power steering. BMW already replaced these belts twice, under warranty. Unfortunately, it appears the harmonic balancer appears to be an issue for many of the 335d vehicles, as well as for x5 savs, equipped with same engine. Complete loss of powersteering, is an unacceptable danger, in particular for a part that appears to be weak (design flaw), as documented by other BMW 335d owners.

I just got belt replaced. About two weeks later the belt pops. The car lost power steering and then would not start. I've researched online n saw that its a design flaw in the 07- 08 335i's but BMW is refusing a recall. Imagine if I was on the highway n it happened. Its terrible.

My serpentine belt (drive belt) snapped and shattered causing my vehicle to lose power steering capabilities. This belt drives all the accesories( alternator, power steering, ac, etc). This is a known issue by BMW, there is a sib 11 09 08 that states the issue and how to go about checking it by the dealer. The issue is the design flaw in the power steering pully hitting the sub frame and causing damage to the belt and in turn the belt snapping. This can/will cause a fatality one day because of the loss of steering controls. The belt on my vehicle was replaced before on 12/20/12 for the same reason and it has only been 1. 5 years and the same problem.
