BMW 335 owners have reported 20 problems related to service brakes (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of BMW 335 based on all problems reported for the 335.
No past issues with brakes. No warning lights. Went to brake and pedal went to the floor. Christmas tree of lights go off about brake/abs/traction control issue. Press pedal agian, same thing. Press again, and finally get brakes. I was going about 35mph. Luckily I didn't coast through a busy intersection, but if this happened somewhere else, I or others could be dead. I had room to maneuver and avoid an accident. There is no hydraulic issue. There is no leak, fluid is full. Brakes work perfectly fine since this. My guess is that the abs valves went full open, like it thought all wheels were locked up even though they never even braked. I have not yet had it diagnosed, but the result is irrelevant since this did happen and happened without warning and without a good cause. So it should be reported and tracked. I don't feel the abs should ever have a failure mode of full open no brakes. Even if the car is old and high mileage (179k).

Abs hydraulic pump unit failure. This failure could result in a lack of breaking capacity in all conditions. The cost to repair is prohibitive and from the search of the internet it is pervasive in the 2005-2010 model years in the 3 series BMW.
There are several light bulbs on the dashboard, such as the brakes on the belts and the airbags I need to know if any of this has a recall thanks.
The contact owns a 2010 BMW 335i. While driving various speeds, the anti lock braking system and traction control system indicator warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the systems failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Car pulls violently to the right under *initial wet braking*, at all speeds. Subsequent braking tracks straight ahead, until brakes get wet again. No standing water, no tire tread or inflation issues, no alignment issues. This problem is apparently well-known in the internet forums, and has been for several years, yet BMW has neither acknowledged the problem, or made a fix available. This is a potentially deadly problem, resulting in unpredictable behavior at the worst-possible moment. *contact me for more information!* problem has been observed sign day one with this car -- but only in wet weather (so, it surfaced again last night, during the first rainstorm of the season).

In the short period of time I¿ve owned my 2011 335xi, I have had to -have the tire pressure monitor reset to factory settings because it kept coming on even though my tires were fine. Disconcerting at best when you¿re a single woman commuting at high speeds every day on a turnpike in traffic. -continually replace burned out daytime running or rear brake bulbs -deal with an ongoing surge or lurching when I start from a stop, worse when the a/c is on, that repair shops still can¿t pinpoint -replace the front control arm bushings -replace the water pump and thermostat (and worry about possible engine damage from the overheated engine; car had to be towed on my way home from work) -replace the starter -replace the engine tension belt -I will soon have to replace leaking oil filter housing gasket -and I have a probable radiator leak, as I¿m refilling coolant approximately every 4 weeks (to the point where I keep a gallon of it in my trunk, with a funnel, for when the light comes on) to date, in the two years I¿ve owned this vehicle (I bought it off-lease), I¿ve already spent almost $5,000 on what should be completely unnecessary repairs for a high-end vehicle.

Both my rear tail lights are malfunctioning and BMW is well aware that the contacts or worn out and need replacing. There is even a service bulletin about it yet my service advisor claimed I had to replace both taillight assemblies at $200 apiece. My bumper-to-bumper warranty through BMW does not cover taillights this is a big safety issue as my tail light intermittently work.

Driving down road and car loss power. Then stop car, took a well start car, the check engine light came on, make home. Later slow cranking car and losing power well driving. Next day engine light turn off. Then later engine light back on car runs with less power and slow cranking up. I only had my car 1 yr and BMW dealership says it my hpfp/injector it's not good everything start happening right after warranty end on car that was left from first person purchase. And I love my car but this not looking good. .
I was driving the vehicle on a heavy traffic highway. Road condition is dry, clean. The car in front of me slowed down, then I pressed brake. I didn't feel any speed decrease so I pressed the brake even harder. I felt the brake was very hard even impossible to press down, which is very strange. But my car still bumped into the front car and stopped. There was sufficient distance between the two cars and I should have totally stopped my car in time. I contacted my dealership and BMW manufacturer immediately after the accident and sent my car back to the dealership a couple of days later. Now BMW is making an investigation on my car to diagnose the problem. I have not received any diagnosis yet.

The contact owns a 2010 335 BMW. The contact stated that both rear rotors failed. The contact took the vehicle for diagnosis where the dealer advised that the failure was caused by normal wear-and-tear. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000. The current mileage was 35,000.
This complaint is concerning my 2011 BMW 335i. I have been having problems with my BMW since about 9000 miles on the vehicle. The brakes keep locking, the rotors keep grinding and grooving, nose coming from the brakes while driving and stopping, and the dealer has changed them more than 3 times and the issues continues to happen. They advised me that they cannot fix it and there is nothing else they can do. Please help me with my vehicle issue. It has been parked from more than a year and a half and I feel that it is a safety issue. I feel like my life is in danger if I drive this vehicle.
Complete failure of abs pump and stability control with only 29000 miles. Cost to repair this basic safety system over $2900.
While driving on the freeway at approximately 75 miles/hr, the engine suddenly dropped down speed drastically (felt like someone down shifted the car) and started to shake and rumble. Try to step on the gas, but the car won't respond in speeding car; try to step on the break, the car won't stop either. Completely lost control of the car for about 5 seconds. Then, the car suddenly shifted back it it's normal gear and was able to drive normally. Read the temperature of the engine oil, the temperature was on "0". This is the 2nd incident.
This is the 1st incident. Driving like usual, up a hill at approximately 45 miles per hour then let go of gas and brake to let the car go down the hill itself. Suddenly, the car sounded like it has shifted and at the same time speed up by itself. Thought I switched to manual drive, so try to switch back, but no switches was mad. Try to step on the brake, the car would not stop. So, try to switch from auto to manual drive, car still has no reaction. Step on the brake forcefully to have the car stop. Thank goodness this was late at night so no car was behind or in front of me.
Sometimes "depend on the speed" when I press the brake, the vehicle accelerate first several seconds and then slow down.
The engine randomly shuts down. This is accompanied by loss of power steering and reduced braking ability. This incident has occurred three times. The car has provided no warning or indicator lights. BMW service was made aware of this problem. Their response was that they failed to reproduce it. They also failed to correct the problem, the last incident occurred after a service on the car.
Abs hydraulic unit failure. Many BMW vehicles over the past 10 years have had various issues with their BMW abs systems. This is a serious safety issue. Per BMW member sites and the fact that BMW put out a repair kit for the problems should confirm that a lot of BMW autos have this abs problem. The repair/ replacement is $4000. 00 on average and I fear people can't afford that and are driving with no abs and most times traction control, I myself still haven't fixed mine due to the expense. Local BMW says out of warrenty, too bad ; but no way a $50k car has this big a defect under 50,000 miles. Please look into this.
The brake system seems to have lost its three press boost. After about 2 years, upon starting the car (2008 BMW 335xi auto) the press on the brake is stiff. It is stiff becauseit seems to have loss the 3 press boost. The boost that is supposed to protect the driver in case of engine failure. No other care I have owned leaks out its boost overnight. BMW admitted that the brake check valve was bad and replaced it with a newly designed part. I asked what this new design was and they could not tell me. I read online that many people have had this issue which starts with a stiff brake pedal then it degrades into the system not being able to start the car. BMW to their credit immediately found another part and loaned me a car in the meantime. The loaned car however did not show this stiff pedal issue. The new part they put in after about 1 month started to lose boost in the mornings off and on. I brought it in and they said this is normal? I"m worried that if I lose engine function going down a hill somewhere that they three press boost won't be their for me if we allow it to get worse. Suffice to say, once the engine starts you get the normal power assisted braking; however, this does not address the engine off three brake press safety requirement.
