Failure Date: 09/08/2021

Loss of power/won't rev over 2500rpms no fault codes displayed on dash radiator fan goes to max and cuts off consistently every 30sec-45sec very dangerous situation when pulling out in front of traffic. I've only owned this car for 3 months! I need to get this fixed ASAP. Also, this problem occurs at random times in all different conditions. It will also "reset" after turning car off and restarting. It has happened to me 7 - 8 times in 3 months!.

Failure Date: 04/02/2021

I was in an accident yesterday at my job pulling into a parking space foot on brake pedal, when my car accelerated into a parked truck. I am still in disabled this happened. I know I did not bit the gas by mistake as that I wasn't using the gas pedal I was pulling in the space using the brake I drive with my right foot only and can't push two pedals at once. I turned the car off immediately and then started it again and backed off the truck . I've parked in parking spaces for years and never experienced anything like this before .

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 BMW 335

Failure Date: 01/17/2020

The high pressure fuel pump which was recalled and replaced in 2011 is problematic again. When pushing the gas pedal harder, the car stutters and does not respond to the extra power requested by flooring the gas pedal and makes put me in a dangerous situation. The service engine soon light came up as well. I pulled the car over when I could, stopped and started the engine again and the "service engine" light disappeared. This is the same issue back in 2011 and recurring again. I suspect this has been there for a long time, but as my wife does not punch the gas as hard as me, she noticed this only on few occasions. I noticed this twice in the last month and so, called the stealership and logging a complaint here. In 2011, they said BMW extended the warranty to 10 years and so, this should be covered now as well, but the stealership abviously would not acknowledge. Hope our great president trump show germany their place, and hope BMW pays for the terrible engineering till elon musk makes them go bankrupt.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 BMW 335

Failure Date: 04/18/2019

I was driving in a parking lot at about 5mph, and the vehicle suddenly stopped on its own while I was still pressing the accelerator. I continued to press the accelerator, but the vehicle would not move. After 3 or 4 minutes of trying to determine what the issue was, I put the car in park and restarted the engine. The car was able to accelerate once I turned the car off and restarted. If this would have happened while in traffic, it would have put many people at risk. No one was harmed because I was in a walmart parking lot traveling at 5mph when the car stalled, but I am unsure what caused this to occur. This situation seems to be related to the national highway traffic administration's recall number 14v176000, as it describes what I experienced while driving the vehicle.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 BMW 335

Failure Date: 02/03/2019

The 2011 vehicle with less than 65,000 miles normal runs at highway speed in a range of 2k rpms. A warning regarding the transmission immediately caused the car to rev up to 5k rpm (very high for a diesel engine sedan) and the speed reduces 30-40mph while driving. It is incredibly scary and dangerous. Assumed this was a one-off. Pulled to the shoulder, turned off the car and it ran fine. Took it to BMW for inspection and they said they could not diagnose the problem but would replace the transmission and charge me more than half the value of the car. The issue has since repeated and is very dangerous to all on the road.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 BMW 335

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

In a left-hand turning lane of a city street, intending to make a left turn on a green light at a controlled intersection, my car was stationary at idle & in neutral at a complete stop until on-coming traffic cleared intersection. From a dead stop in 1st gear (stick shift), I started a left turn - suddenly, unexpectedly & unintentionally the vehicle rapidly & uncontrollably accelerated to 30 to 40 mph. I clutched out of gear, slammed on the breaks, but could not slow the vehicle. The vehicle subsequently jumped a curb and collided head-on with a telephone pole. Seat belt worked and air bag deployed. Car was towed. I was transported by ems to an emergency room to evaluate for injuries.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 BMW 335

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

BMW 335i 2007 has (x3)three times now, the vehicle was traveling during the daylight hours at highways speeds of 65-70mph in the number 1 far left lane of (CA 101 fwy) in may of 2016 when the vehicle displayed ¿engine temperature was high, and that the car needed to be driven at a moderate speed¿. Immediately took my foot off the accelerator and began to coast in idle state to the shoulder (CA 101 fwy) 5 lanes over. Before I was able to move to the 3rd lane the vehicle stated ¿engine to hot¿, turned off, lost power (much like if you run out of gas), and I frightfully merged creeping along to the shoulder narrowly missed being hit by several other trucks and vehicles. I went to lift the hood, expecting to be overwhelmed by heat and conditions that would cause a BMW to disable suddenly and lose power. I observed no conditions of heat or unusual to cause a shut down. I was able to turn car on again in 10 minutes with no problems the temperature was no different or warmer than I have ever felt before, conditions were 72/*f, traffic was moving along at a good flow, with light cool bay area breeze. This has occurred 3times now, I have filled the coolant, I have had the starter and battery replaced and yet the same occurrence comes up. . Read more...

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 BMW 335

Failure Date: 07/27/2014

Upon driving at highway speed (70+mph) the car slowed down (engine braking) to approx 40mph instantly. The cars behind me were forced to brake forcefully. An accident was avoided because it was Sunday morning and light traffic. The car displayed "engine malfunction-drive to the dealership". The car was without power - just coasting at 40mph or so, not able to accelerate. I managed to get it over to the dealer - fields BMW of northfield, IL. They kept it for a week - told me it was a computer malfunction that cut off power to the pressure converter for the turbocharger. When asked if this can happen again, they said possibly. I called BMW of north America customer service 1-800-831-1117 spoke to stephan extension 7705. I described the life threatening malfunction and I asked him to talk to the engineers and to get back to me on whether this can be avoided in the future. Next time we will be looking at a fatality for me or other drivers. I also asked him to extend the warranty to 100,000 miles due to the proven lack of safety and reliability. He never responded to my requests - I called today - 8/25 - he told me as far as BMW of north America is concerned - there is no issue with the vehicle. I believe that due to the possible future loss of life, this issue needs to be investigated. I am available for comments/contact.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 BMW 335

Failure Date: 02/06/2013

While driving on the freeway at approximately 75 miles/hr, the engine suddenly dropped down speed drastically (felt like someone down shifted the car) and started to shake and rumble. Try to step on the gas, but the car won't respond in speeding car; try to step on the break, the car won't stop either. Completely lost control of the car for about 5 seconds. Then, the car suddenly shifted back it it's normal gear and was able to drive normally. Read the temperature of the engine oil, the temperature was on "0". This is the 2nd incident.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 BMW 335

Failure Date: 01/21/2013

This is the 1st incident. Driving like usual, up a hill at approximately 45 miles per hour then let go of gas and brake to let the car go down the hill itself. Suddenly, the car sounded like it has shifted and at the same time speed up by itself. Thought I switched to manual drive, so try to switch back, but no switches was mad. Try to step on the brake, the car would not stop. So, try to switch from auto to manual drive, car still has no reaction. Step on the brake forcefully to have the car stop. Thank goodness this was late at night so no car was behind or in front of me.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 BMW 335

Failure Date: 11/12/2012

Loss of power, the car will not rev past 3,000 rmp and no fault codes show on dash.

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 BMW 335

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

I would formally like to report a major safety concern I have regarding my new 2011 BMW 335is convertible. From a standstill without modifying any of the default configurations on the car, flooring the gas pedal, the car lurches forward (as expected) and then power completely cuts out for a second and then will continue on its way. My guess is the dsc is kicking in causing power to be reduced and then re-established. My concern is that a brand new car should be able to be floored without this happening. I recently had this exact situation occur as I was pulling out into traffic and very narrowly missed getting pummeled by another car when power was cut to my car. I have taken my car to my BMW service station and although they agree that the car should not do this?they at the same time say the car is operating normally. Their advice was to turn off dsc in a situation I want to floor it. This is my 3rd BMW 3 series convertible and I have never experienced this. Also, I do not think the driver should be forced to consider this before pulling out in traffic. And, if I were to lend my car to a family member, how would they know.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 BMW 335

Failure Date: 09/06/2011

Updated 10/31/11 the consumer stated on three occasions, while the vehicle was in drive and at a full stop, the engine speed increased towards full throttle without touching or depressing the accelerator pedal. The mat was not the cause, and it was not driver error. Updated 11/02/11 updated 11/04/11 updated 11/07/11.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2009 BMW 335

Failure Date: 08/26/2009

My 2009 BMW 335i has a significant lag-time between when the gas pedal is depressed and when the car starts to accelerate. This is most noticeable when the car is at a dead stop. When I press the gas pedal, it takes about one full second before it lunges forward suddenly. This is a consistent problem which I can replicate every time I press on the gas pedal from a dead stop. This is very scary and dangerous, especially when I am trying to make a left turn, or when I am trying to avoid an accident. I have no control over how quickly my car responds to the gas pedal. I have noticed this since I purchased my car in August 2009. My BMW dealership and another BMW dealership told me that this is normal. I highly doubt that this is normal. This is clearly abnormal to me. Several bulletin boards on the internet also report the same problem.
