Transmission shift badly - lunges forward - tendes to stall -traveling at low speeds goes in to 5 or 6 gear step on gas paddle takes to long to shift down and jumps forward. This has been happening even when the car was new and getting worse as time goes on.

I was going over a small bump in the road at 30 mph and my engine mount failed. All four aluminum bolts sheared off and the engine dropped. This drop snapped my passenger drive shaft (half axle) in two pieces. I think BMW has a serious problem with the strength of the engine mount hardware. The engine mount bolts should be stronger. The failure mode is dangerous.
Vehicle operated without issue and then the reverse gear ceased functioning when attempting to reverse from a parking spot and the vehicle had to be pushed as the reverse gear in the transmission no longer engaged. Repeated attempts with the vehicle at operating temperature and when allowed to cool down yielded the same result. Nothing led me the feel this would occur and could have been deadly if the situation had been dire if an outcome as such rested on the success or failure of the reverse gear.

2001 BMW 330i. No reverse. It seems to be a common issue with this transmission, yet there has been no recall. It was a one owner car with meticulous maintenance records. Despite the high miles, there were no warning signs prior to the reverse gear failing.
Car just stopped going into reverse. This is a issue that is common in many other 2000 3 Series.
The subject vehicle accelerated unexpectedly when the car was slowly turning into a parking space in a parking lot. The driver had to suddenly press very hard on the brake in order to stop the car.

My wife was departing a traffic circle on base here in germany. She accelerated to 35 mph and experienced stalled acceleration as she was traveling down the main road. My wife was stepping on the gas and the car appeared not to be running. She attempted to get the vehicle off to the side of the road as it rolled to a stop. She was stuck in the right hand turn lane on a two lane road and waited for security forces patrolman that stopped and helped push the car out of traffic.
Great car until parked at grocery store and car would not back up when put in reverse. Only 75000 miles. BMW dealer wanted $6000 to replace with factory rebuilt transmission. Contacted BMW customer service and they refused to participate in repair. Offered to contact dealer and ask for 10% reduction. Never heard back. Last BMW for me. Very frequent failure per the internet and this site.
The car suddenly stopped going into reverse. Works in drive.
My vehicle is a BMW 325, 2004 and I have had issues with my reverse. When I place my car in reverse, it does not move. I have read of several issues pertaining to this problem in BMW vehicles from 2000 - 2005. Moreover, I understand that there was a class action law suit that was settled in NJ. I would like to understand if the NHTSA is pursuing and investigation into this matter.

The reverse gear stop working.
The car will not go in reverse.
I was trying to park and when I put the car into reverse, the car did not move backwards. My car rolled forward as if it was in neutral. After researching the issue, this seems to be a common problem with the 3 Series.
The car all of a sudden stopped going into reverse. I had to push it to get our of the parking spot and went straight home. The next morning, the reverse gear decided to work so I decided to take it for test drive again and it failed to go into reverse again. There are thousands of BMW owners that complain about the same problem with the reverse gear. There needs to be a recall from BMW to take care of this issue.
The car transmission will not go in reverse. The issue happens suddenly with no warning, and acts exactly as if you were in neutral gear. . Read more...
My 2000 3 Series BMW has stopped going in reverse. At all. It's very dangerous as I was in traffic yesterday at a red light when a semi truck turned the corner in front of me and needed me to back up. I was stuck behind a van that was able to go in reverse and of course expected me to follow suit, and I couldn't! I've been reading online and all over the world people are having this same problem over and over again with this particular series of BMW. I've only had my car a year. It has a little over 100k miles on it. I absolutely cannot afford the 3-5k it will cost to replace it. There are so many complaints on the web. Please have this recalled before it turns into another Toyota debacle. It's not fair.
Reverse gear (automatic transmission) stopped working without warning. Car acts as if it is neutral, engine just revs. Car has been well maintained. Was surprised to find it is a very common occurrence with this model, and that there is a website devoted to the problem (noreverse. Org). Also learned that a recall was issued for cadillacs that used the same transmission and had the same problem.
An almost fatal crash. Car was backed up from garage in the morning into the street, put in d position but there were no power to the wheels for approximately 5 to 10 seconds. Car approaching from behind on the street needed to swerve to avoid rear ending my car. This problem happens continuously when the car is cold (sitting for more than 8 hours). There is a delay of about 10 seconds for power to engage in d position. According to online customer complaints and BMW dealer, this critical safety issue is related to a software issue in the transmission. A software upgrade fixes the problem but when approaching BMW for this critical safety issue, they refuse to provide the software upgrade for free and the dealer wants to charge $360 to update the transmission software.
In 2010 the sunroof went bad I talked to a BMW dealer and they told me they have problems with them, in August of 2011 I noticed that my tail lights and blinkers were not working proper, nor was my horn, and the drivers window regulators are binding up, also a brake hose from my brake booster to the engine is collapsed in two spots. ??.

There is a major problem with the reverse on these vehicles. We thought we had a unique problem but it is a obvious that this is a widespread problem. I found 359 complaints on our yr/make/model on this website alone. Also numerous complaints on a website called no reverse. Org. Our BMW will not go into reverse. I have learned to park on an incline so I can roll backwards out of a parking space. BMW needs to do a recall. They are loosing faithful customers by not addressing the issue. If there is a class action lawsuit, I want to be a part of it. BMW reps at customer service decline to help so far.
I own BMW 320d 2009, my problem with the car is exactly the opposite, as my car suddenly accelerate by its self, as I go down from say 75 mph and release the brakes, suddenly the car speeds up again. This is happen to me several times and BMW says this was nothing I was assuming this, after complained and complained, finally an iginuer looked at my car and kept it for a day, but only to say nothing is wrong. It keeps happening and happening and BMW does not react, as I mentioned Toyota in one of my letters to them, they answered me angry with we not Toyota. To this point I keep complaining nd complaining and also use my other car more often.

The contact owns a 2003 BMW 323ci. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift into reverse gear. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who stated that the rear d drum failed. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified about the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000.
BMW 325 I have experienced so many problems with my 325ci BMW, I bought the car in November, the car is not even 1 year old and I have taken to service four times already. My car is a 2002 and at this moment it has 10,660 miles. The car has a major computer problem. My abs seems to be malfunctioning as well as my emergency brake, and to make matters worse the transmission has been reprogramed and pieces are coming off in the inside. I have taken the car to service the past three weeks for the the computer and the body. Lucky BMW does have great service and I havent had to pay for a single repair. But I would really like to file a lemon law on the car because I know the problems with the car will never stop.

I purchased this vehicle 2 weeks ago. One night while driving on the beltway about 70 mph the car started losing power. Almost all the sensors were illuminated on the dash board. I barely made it over to the emergency lane. To make matters worst BMW roadside assistance stated they are not allowed to assist anyone on route 495. BMW would not allow me to return the vehicle, but it is in the repair shop.
