BMW 3 Series owners have reported 17 problems related to vehicle speed control (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While the car was travelling at a rate of about 45 mph, it did something I never experienced before. It started to shake, sputter and lose power while ascending a on a paved city street that had about a 20 degree uphill grade. The vehicle behind me didn't expect my sudden speed change and nearly rear ended me. . The engine icon appeared on the dash and I sputtered all the way home.

Power steering pulley comes into contact of axle carrier, it's a clear design flaw and this car hasn't had much research and development done, the company knowingly put an unsafe beta car on the market. My belt broke because of the pulley to frame contact and stalled on the 405 freeway and ended up getting injured when the car was rear ended at 60mph. There is a service bulletin within BMW's system describing this issue and they want consumers to pay out of pocket for repairs. I spoke to corporate and they have given me the cold shoulder so far. My mission is to get this escalated to a recall before someone gets seriously hurt.

While in line in a drive thru the vehicle turned off suddenly losing all electrical power and power steering. Upon trying to start "charging malfunction" appeared on the information screen in with a red warning sign. Tried 2-3 times to turn over starter. When vehicle turned on it was time to move forward. When trying to exit drive thru drive way vehicle was very heavy and almost impossible to turn. Finally after several back and forth attempts vehicle was moved about 50 feet to a safe parking location.

I was driving from school and push the gas and 15mph the car jerked in transmission light came on. The car went into safe mode. I could not drive over 40 mp. The dealer ship said the transmission mechatronic may have malfunction. Something inside of the transmission the manufacturer build it with a plastic valve cover it's common on BMW the transmission failure. There are over 67,000 complaints on line for the same issue. Where is the recall!. You pay for this expensive car to pay 7000 to fix. I am looking to start a law suit if they don't recall and fix this common expensive problem!.

The car just stalls out. Sometimes, when I stop at a traffic light and then start to go, the car hesitate to go. It stalls in traffic. I have taken it to the dealer, but they can not duplicate the problem with their diagnostic test equipment. I am afraid that I will be hit by other cars because of it. Since the dealer can't seem to figure it out, I have been researching it on-line and lots of other people have the same problem.
Had similar problem as previously reported incident (09/30/2013), the loss power. This was the second time for me. The first incident occurred on October 29, 2013. When I put foot on gas, the car would not accelerate. I took car to dealer and two days later was told the auxiliary power supply needed to be replaced, but the replacement part was unavailable: there were no parts in the country nor could they tell me when the part would be available. I was told I could continue operate the car and I should not be concerned. The loss of power occurred again November 15. I also noticed similar to the previously reported incident a change in the engine temperature - the temperature dropped from about 250 deg to about 205 deg.

Transmission problem resulting in violent shuddering of the vehicle body and abrupt engine stops resulting in dangerous driving conditions. Fluctuations in the tachometer when the car attempted to stop and the car would automatically change gears to neutral or park.
I was driving my vehicle on the highway in the left lane, trying to pass a car in the middle lane. After getting in front of the car in the middle lane, I tried to accelerate so I could re-enter the middle lane, but the car acted as if it slipped into neutral and would not accelerate. The engine growled as if it were in neutral. It kept driving, but would not accelerate, despite me stepping harder on the gas. This was potentially dangerous as there was a car immediately behind me, which could have rear ended me at over 60mph, and the car in the middle lane that I was trying to pass could have also hit me on the passenger side of my car. . My vehicle did not have a recall on the following items: hpfp, fuel injectors, wastegate. Failure- long crank, engine malfunction light, engine service soon light, clicking(rattling) coming from bottom of car(waste gate), car lose power on freeway, when rev clicking in the fuel injectors. Please help I have read many people had the same problem and many people were issue a recall. I haven't got one and am 100% positive these three items needs repair. My car is a 2007 BMW 335i and has not been issued the recall for those 3 failures. 89450 mileage please issue one. Thank you I just bought the car as of 5/15/2013 from private owner and noticed the problem till 6/12/2013 and still experiencing these problems daily.
I bought my brand new BMW x3 in 2007. There were small issues in the past but withing my manufacturer warrenty period. I had my rear brake pads replaced on Jan 23, 2012. On Jan 30, 2012, when I drove my x3 out my subdivison to go to work, the brake light, abs light, and 4/4 light all on, plus load clunk type noise from rear, it was difficault to make a u-turn, managed back to home, called BMW unitedbmw dealer and towed my vehicle to dealer. They first told me that is software failure, they would try reprogram to fix, then called to tell the re-program did not work, it was mechanical transfer case actuator broken, a new one must be installed. The total charge for repair (part + labor - discount) is $2354. 97. It was in the dealer for one week. The dealer insisted that it was my bad luck, not car's own issue even though the milage is less than 40k. I did some research online, found that there are plenty of similar cases and class-action lawsuits. Looks like BMW (2007 and 2008) models have lubricant problem, later BMW switched with different lubricant. Internet estimation says that ~30% of the vehichles (2007 & 2008) demonstrated this issue. As a consumer, I am trying to urge any car maker to be responsible for their products. But I never get any notice or recall from BMW dealers or maker in the past and when the problem surfaced.
I'm just concern if there is a recall to be fixed on my car (2000 BMW x3 2. 5i) I've noticed 2x already that while driving on the freeway my gas pedal accelerates speed. In December 2010 while driving on a slight snow, the car won't stop for a second when applying brakes; my front rotor and brakes were being replaced on March 7, 2011 at the dealer. My main concern here is the gas pedal acceleration. I would like to know how can I get a free maintenance free check service.

I have a 2010 BMW 328i. The brake pedal and the gas pedal are too close together. When engaging the brake, my foot comes in contact with the accelerator and I am afraid that this may lead to an accident. I took the vehicle in for service and the dealership said there was nothing they could do. I have had other BMW's and have not had this issue. I also have a 2009 escalade and this is not an issue on this vehicle.

As an example, when attempting to accelerate the vehicle onto a moving traffic situation the car hesitates/lags/delays before the engine catches, then it takes off like a rabbit when you don't expect it. This vehicle behavior has caused near miss accidents more than once when I was driving. It's not a delay which decreases a transient surge. It increases the transient surge as the car does not respond to the throttle for a half second then bolts forward with an awkward lurch and a slam. It's much rougher than a normal takeoff would be. It's not at all smooth. Some have described it as being rear-ended. The has been happening since I purchased the car in November 2010 many BMW owners have reported the problem to BMW as I have. The answer I got as well as many others from BMW was, "it's normal".
I was exiting a freeway and was attempting to pass a slow moving vehicle in front of me. I passed the vehicle and accelerated in order to keep a safe distance between me and the car behind me. Much to my surprise, when I "put the pedal to the metal", I experienced a loss of power. My car completely lost power for about 5 - 8 seconds. The car I had just passed nearly rear-ended me because they did not expect me pass and then reduce my speed. I took my care to the BMW dealer who claimed to have never heard of such a thing. They checks out the car (it was approximately 3 months old) and could not duplicate the problem, I was told to drive more often in sport mode. This has happened two other times over the last 21 months and the dealer has said each time they could not duplicate the problem.
2006 BMW 330xi brake failure, acceleration, no steering. Occurred twice; BMW repaired by dealer new brakes, computer; second occurrence car did not stop until hit trees.
2006 BMW 330 xi when pressing on the brake the car accelerated with a loud noise, could not steer the car; crashed in trees. 24,323 miles still under new car warranty.
2006 BMW 328i repeatedly hesitates when the accelerator pedal is pressed. The car has been returned to the dealer on 5 different instances to address the problem. To date BMW claims in "cannot replicate customers problem". In one instance vehicle actually stalled when an attempt was made to pull into traffic. Appears to be a frequent problem with this model as it was addressed in a car and driver test drive article.
