The contact owns a 2006 BMW 525i. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 22v119000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph when she noticed the smell of burning plastic. The contact stated that the "check radiator" light was illuminated. The contact stated that she drove the vehicle to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed that the failure was with the pcv valve and replaced the pcv valve. The vehicle was repaired, however the contact was billed by the dealer for the repairs. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was 235,641. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. Parts distribution disconnect.
Positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) valve heater. I was told that the part need to fix this recall is still not available. My car has a burring smell coming from under the hood of my car.
