Battery problems, was supposedly recalled for it and now the car is dying and the alarm is going off in my driveway at 10:30pm after being off for hours. The alarm doesn’t turn off with the fob or if key is in ignition, I need to remove the battery panel find a ratchet and remove one of the battery terminals while my alarm is simultaneously going off for long period over and over and over.
Recal 94v219000: double-lock feature gcm revised. "the double-lock feature can engage with occupants and the door/ignition key inside of the vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle would be unable to exit either from the doors or from the windows of the vehicle. " note: if your vehicle is presented to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and the remedy is not provided free of charge within a reasonable time or the remedy does not correct the defect, contact BMW and the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline my car locked me in it and I was unable to exit exactly as described in this recall. Called BMW and they are saying the recall was remedied. Clearly it is not corrected. BMW says they cant do anything. 1995 or not this is a serious safety issue, this car is perfectly safe running and driving vehicle besides this issue.
We arrived at church, and I remained behind finishing my makeup. My husband locked the car with the fob out of habit, and my foot was holding the passenger door open. Forgetting the door had been locked with the fob, I accidentally allowed the passenger door to close. I had no keys. Services began, not a soul in site outside. I began to panic when I could not get the door or any other to open. The alarm would not trigger, and the sunroof was cracked accidentally about an inch. It was July. I could not get anyone to hear me, and could not get any door or window ajar. Eventually I was able to get the attention of an elder, who went and retrieved the keys and got me out. I was soaked in sweat, using an inhaler about every 20 minutes, extremely scary. The other time this happened, my son was sitting in the car but the alarm went off and would not let him out until I came with the fob. He was 15, so he was not young. I had no idea he could not exit the vehicle should he choose. I know there is some emergency release in the hatch somehow but could not locate. Air bags were scheduled to be replaced, had rental scheduled with dealership, drove 45 minutes to leave car for repair, but they had no rental as was promised, so I returned home in the vehicle.

I received a notice in the mail stating that my vehicle with the matching VIN had a recall for the pc value heater. And that it causes the vehicle to over heat and catch fire I contacted the dealership and manufacturer and I was told that there was no remedy available as I started experiencing issue's with my vehicle. It worries me because I constantly have my grandchildren with me and don't want them in a unsafe vehicle.

The NHTSA database is showing a recall for my car has not been completed. However I am currently in south korea with my car and the dealership here is telling me that the recall has been completed. This is a conflict. I can not ship my car back to the us without this recall being cleared. Can someone provide me documentation showing that the recall has been satisfied.
We receantly purchased a used BMW 525 I. And it suddenly caught on fire while my son came to a stop. He barley excaped with his life. The whole car was up in flames. We dont know where it came from but it was the worst thing that I seen. Thank god he was able to get out of the vehicle when he did. We never thought we would have to worry about his safety in this vehicle, being one of the top of the line vehicles!.
It started to smell electrical when I was driving the car and when I stopped the car put it in park and tryed to turn the car off the ignition wouldnt turn off and my entire car caught fire . . Takata recall there's a airbag signals on display screen doesn't go out or clear anytime you start or drive the car.
On April 11, 2015. I was taking my vehicle to my mechanic to get it serviced after sitting all winter. As I was driving I noticed smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle. I pulled over, could not locate the source. I continued to my mechanic. Once there we opened the trunk, we noticed and smelled something burning. We took out the tire and noticed water in the wheel well, which made an electrical component sparking, smoking and on fire. I had the vehicle towed to BMW. They stated the water damaged the micro power module. BMW paid for the repairs, and relocated the module away from the wheel well. I feel where it was placed previous was very dangerous. If I had any combustible item in my trunk my BMW would have fully caught fire. BMW should recall all vehicle and relocation any electrical components that can be damaged by water, possibly catch fire. This is very dangerous.
I have a BMW 525i 2007, which was a certified pre-owned vehicle bought from east bay BMW. Around 71,000 miles, the 'steering wheel lock malfunction' light came on (red color). The car is drivable, and works fine, however, the light is still on with a warning that the engine may not start. I asked BMW of mountain view for a quote. They say that the elv lock (steering wheel lock) and screws need to be replaced for $1521. 49!! that's insane. I see many many other BMW owners complaint about the same issue. This should be a recall. Many owners say that simply reprogramming the cas (car access system) module fixed the problem. BMW of mountain view said that they will charge $200 for the reprogramming, with no guarantee that it will fix the issue. If after replacing the elv locks + screws another reprogramming needs to be done, that would be another $200 for programming. This isn't right. BMW please own up to your defects.
The hub failed at 75 mph, the front left wheel fell off and the 1997 525tds hit the concrete median and rolled 2 and 1/2 times. Fortunately no injuries.

We would like the NHTSA to be aware that myself and a few colleagues own BMW and have experienced this issue. BMW has purposely built these vehicles to fail after the warranty period when a few months after the 100,000 mile warranty we began having problems specifically with the seals around all all windows including windshield and rear window as well as the seals around the trunk, however at the bottom of the trunk BMW keeps a main component board underneath the spare tire , once the seals begin to fail it causes water and moisture to gain access to this compartment and cause the board to ignite and catch fire and cause car to go crazy with acceleration and deceleration, why place a main component in this location with 10 feet of extra wire and no drain, I would also like to point out all BMW's of the same year experience m melting of the plastic interior parts and the paint to completely break down underneath the clear coat no matter how much ax is applied these are major flaws and BMW is well aware of them, there vehicles and service is terrible they should not be allowed on the road.
I popped the hood and removed the enclosure cap for the passenger side daytime running lamp and discovered that the wiring on the harness to the light bulb was exposed. The covering around the wiring had disintegrated in several places. I attempted to remove the light bulb and received an electric shock. I then put the light bulb and harness back inside the lamp housing and put the cap back on. I took the vehicle to an global imports, authorized BMW dealer in atlanta, GA on March 11, 2014. I was told that the condition of the harness was a potential fire hazard. I filed a complaint with BMW of north America the same day. I was informed that even though it was a manufacturing defect, they wouldn't replace the part because there wasn't a recall.
Bought from manager at BMW service department w/89,920 on 10/25/13. 2 overheated broke down on 11/29/13 on January 7 rarely park in driveway, pull up on driveway with an incline at my home. Car was placed in park but sorta did not catch gear right, felt a rollback so I engaged my e-brake. Did not want to release key, so I get stuff at house and resumed inspection of vehicle, car did not start. So I attempted to remove out of park, to no avail, then after off and on attempts it changed gears. Screen said gear change without brake possible. Took it in they said had to replace guide plate and solenoid for 1250. 00 I have 4 kids and a wife I love, we are always in vehicle, I feel my families safety is violated for being exposed to a potential dangerous episode. Did research parking pawl guide plate has recall. Exact to my problem dealership acknowledges it but claims that my car ain't because recalls on v8 models. Only had car for short time frame. Feel scammed, paid 14600 w/ taxes from bank loan and now I'm stuck with a lemon! help!!??.
Transmission jerks when vehicle is about to stop, downshifting transmission issue from 2 to 1 speed.
Bought the car in Aug started using the seat warmer about December of 2014. Here and there upon using I'd smell something burning so I would turn it off! but not all the time when using the warmer did I smell burning! late March my husband noticed a burn hole on my driers seat, I instantly remembered the burning smell when sometimes using the seat heater! I'm lucky I was not burned but my driver seat is ruined and I'm now afraid to use the heaters, ever!.
