Seat Belt Problems of BMW 525

My passenger seat belt restraints and airbag warnings light comes on. I saw that this year was included in my model 525i, but BMW of honolulu said my bin shows no recall? I'm confused and upset on how BMW can risk such a safety issue by not including all affected by this especially my year and model class because it's obviously an issue we all are having around the same exact time. Is there a solution or should I give up on BMW for such neglect for my safety and yours?.

I recently started getting passenger restraint system warning message appearing. After searching online, I discovered 2006 525i vehicles have recall on the same issue. However when I contacted BMW, I was told based on VIN number my vehicle is not under any recall even though I have same issue with the vehicles under recall. As is, the passenger airbag will not deploy and can cause serious harm to the passenger, therefore my vehicle should be part of the recall.

Was dropping off a passenger and when I parked on a city street . He took his seatbelt off and opened the passenger door . When he got off the seat I noticed two lights come on in the dashboard . Then the notification came up on my menu screen displaying restraint austen malfunction . I've looked up my 2006 BMW 525i to notice it happening to allot of the same year make and model as mine.

My warning light "fault in the passenger restraint system" illuminated when I turned the car on. Has not come off.

Passenger restraint system warning appears each time we get into the vehicle and start the ignition. Airbag deployment red icon constantly illuminated on the dashboard. The air conditioning system is not working properly. The car does not cool or get cold until the car is in motion. We had a mechanic who we purchased the car from 3 years ago to diagnose the problem but it still continues to not cool properly.

Passenger restraint system light on,effecting airbag,belt tensioner or belt force limiter. Called BMW was told VIN number not in recall how can that be recall is for 2004 BMW. Cost is over 1000. Car was stationary.

Seatbelt not retracting and warning light stating seatbelt and airbag may not function in crash. Initially intermittent but now steady warning lights. * extreme fading of paint on hood, roof, deck lid.

I purchased a use 2004 BMW 525i and within 2 days the a message came up indicating passenger side airbag/seat belt issue, remain using your seat belt but see your nearest BMW center.

When the battery was changed in the car, the passenger restraint system failure light came on. The vehicle was not in motion, nor has it been in any kind of wreck. An airbag light and passenger restraint light is now on. BMW says it is not under recall.

Passenger restraint failure warning came up on my 2007 525i. This has been a problem on previous models but after taking my vehicle into the dealership they informed me it would not be covered and would cost me roughly $2000 to repair. This is a severe safety issue as nobody can ride in the passenger seat. This should be covered with the other vehicles.

Hello, my 2007 BMW 525xi has an error with the airbags and passenger restraint system. I was told there is a recall but BMW says I dont have one currently my airbags will not deploy in the case of an accident and BMW does not want to cover. Please help. Rgds.

The airbag light and seatbelt light came on and remain on. Auto shop referred me to BMW to have recall on passanger mat sensor error. BMW dealership tells me the recall had been preformed on 7/3/2009, so it is not covered and I need to pay repair prices. From my understanding, passanger airbag will not work now,.

I was driving in traffic when smell and smok came from the botton of my car, I park the car and check, my seat was burn, I turn off the heating and I'm not be able to used again the dealer on park Ave in south hackensack NJ dont get back to me. Started the engine. Passenger sat in vehicle. The passenger restraint system failure light appeared on screen. I thought it was a glitch. The light appeared on and off for several weeks. Went to an independent mechanic and told that it was the seat mat or sensor and the cost would run around 1500 at the dealer. Was told to check to see if there was a recall. Checked on the website and there was no recall but many complaints about the same problem occurring for the 2006 vehicles.

Warning message for passenger side air bag malfunction. Took to dealer and told it was the seat sensor. I did not replace it because it was way to much money. There are tons of complaints about the same thing happening to people with this car. Prior year cars have been recalled for the same issue. It sure seems like this year car has the same problem. The seat belt and airbag warning light are on in car, based on my research, I've found that this is manufacture fault, when I called BMW dealer they told me that my car is not covered under the recall campaign for the same manufacture fault. I think BMW manufacturer is at libel at present, let's just hope nothing happened to myself and family while operating this vehicle. I want BMW to add my car to the recall campaign because this is a safety issue.

This has caused the airbag system in the passenger side to be permanently turned off and acknowledges faults in the restraint system. I feel this is extremely unsafe for passengers in my vehicle. A mechanic has told me there is an issue with the occupant detection mat which appears defective. I observed that there has been a recall on a similar issue with the BMW vehicle (recall id 08v38400). I attempted to contact the dealership, north scottsdale BMW and BMW costumer service but both said the recall didnt involve my vehicle even though it included the same make and model with the same issue.

I was leaving the bowing alley and noticed the restraint system malfunction light was on and it will not go off. I called the company in reference to a recall about the same problem, however, they claim that my VIN # isn't covered under the recall id # 73379 or NHTSA campaign number 08v384000. It is very disheartening to save up and buy your dream car to only have it to malfunction in a months time. I don' t have any faith or trust in the BMW company and will not recommend them to anyone. The restraint light came on in my car and for some unknown reason the light will not reset. I know for a fact the dealership replaced the passenger side seat cover or something while under warranty, but this started around 2010 or 2011 not sure. The contact owns a 2007 BMW 525i. The contact was driving at an unknown speed and attempting a right turn when another vehicle crashed into the contact¿s vehicle. The rear driver and passenger¿s side seat belts malfunctioned. The contact was thrown forward as the lap belt cut into her stomach. A police report was filed. The contact had to endure surgery to repair the damage to her stomach caused by the seat belt. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was not available. Passenger seatbelt light is on at all times. According to dealership it is the seat mat sensor. Hardly anyone rides with me in the car, this should not have broken and should have been covered by the manufacturer warranty. Dealer provided an estimate of $1,265. 34 to replace it. A total scam.

The passenger side air bag warning light is on and will not turn off. I have called the BMW dealership and they stated that they would have to run a diagnostics test which will cost over $100 just to find out what is wrong with it. They stated that my VIN number was one of the cars that was fixed in a previous recall for the same issue. I told them I do not have the money to pay to see what is wrong it. What if the passenger airbag fails and someone is actually injured do to this issue. The warning notification on the dash has been on for two years. The car currently has 80,000. I don't understand why the same issue happens for a previous recall and they cannot take ownership of the recall. Very disappointed. The car has a very high price tag and you would expect some sort of ownership and honesty from the BMW corporation.

There is a faulty restraint malfunction on the front passenger side seat. Regardless of whether or not a passenger is in the seat at all the airbag sign indicates that it is off. I am aware that this is a common problem and a malfunction in other BMW 5 series and the dealer ships that I've went to refuse to acknowledge this even though BMW headquarters released a recall for some a couple of years ago.

The first day I got my brand new 2005 BMW 525i was in December of 2004 and I was driving it and a emergency warning light came on telling me that something was wrong with the transmission, to pull over and have it towed to the nearest BMW dealership. I had to get my brand new car towed back to the dealership where they replaced the transmission. This was only the beginning of a cycle of events that never happened with my Honda accord, mercedes, Acura, blazer or Saturn. My screen lights up like a christmas tree all the time with all kinds of strange warnings that unless you are an engineer might as well be in swahili. I have had a problem with the passenger restaint system failure light staying on and no one can figure that one out. I have had a flat tire light come on (it's on right now) when there is no flat tire. The wood paneling on the passenger's side above the glove compartment has 3 huge cracks that go all the way through it. My glove compartment won't open because the handle broke off. My sunroof cover flies back into the back of the top of the car and gets lost back there and there is no way to reach it. The lighter (which I need for a charger for my phone) malfunctions and the wooden panel cover disappeared into the interior component of the car as I watched helpless leaving a big ugly gaping hole. I am so careful with my car and can't believe this is what I got for $50,000. These are problems that a 1972 Volvo might deal with but my 2005 BMW? the repairs and service are outlandishly expensive and to have these problems is simply unacceptable. The front driver floor mat gets stuck under the pedals almost making me wreck! I'm embarrassed with how my brand new BMW has turned into a "ghetto" ride.

Took my 2002 BMW 525i to have its driver side rails replaced to BMW of peoria in illinois about 2 weeks ago. About 1 week later (around may 5) at a stop light a large allen type bolt fell and rolled to my feet. This bolt was to my lap seat belt which I was now holding in my hand! the bolt was never tightened properly and I had been driving like this for around 1 week assuming my seat belt would work when needed. BMW of peoria was informed of this the same day, it was fixed by the next day. I wrote to BMW-USA about this issue and the response was very low key. Mostly that they apologize for the inconvenience and to talk with my service manager to get this issue fixed. I don't think they even read the letter which mentioned reminding BMW service of proper work. Just writing in hopes that no one else runs into this life threatening situation.
