Tl the contact owns a 2007 BMW 528i. While driving various speeds, the vehicle overheated and the engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The contact waited for a few minutes, restarted the vehicle, and was able to drive home. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v683000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 120,000.
