Front Seat Head Restraint Problems of BMW 528

Passenger restraint system malfunction. Light will not go out. Dealership BMW of sterling in sterling va says passenger sensor mat has to be replaced as airbag will not deploy in case of an accident.

Airbag restraint system malfunction passenger side indicator comes on. Stating restraint had malfunctioned and might not work. Passenger seat of not registering properly.

My care has 30000 miles; warranty expired in Nov 2016. I have never been in an accident and have maintained the car very well. I got a warning sign that read 'passenger restraint system malfunction'. I took it to the dealer and he said the szl (steering angle sensor) and the passenger seat mat have to be replaced. In reading several threads I think this is a common complaint that is not addressed by BMW. I am unclear as to why a restraint system issue doesn't fall under safety which would allow for coverage under extended warranty.

The headrest on the driver side stops working: it stuck in the upper position and cannot be lowered.

Airbag / seatbelt sensor faulty passenger restraint system malfunction error on the system. BMW had a recall earlier for 2004-2006 vehicles where BMW replaces the seat mat free of cost. I called the dealer for my 2010 528i and they are saying there is no recall; however I see thousands of users across the country are complaining about the same issue.

I was driving my car and suddenly the restraint system malfunction light turned on and the seatbelt light turned on. I did not hit a bump or anything. There was no passenger currently sitting on the passenger seat when the light came on. I have tried sitting down on the passenger seat and put on my seat belt to see if it will go away but no luck. Also, the seat belt light will not go away even if I buckle the drivers seat and passenger seat belt.

2010 BMW 528i, having problems with passenger restraint system and air bag system lights stay on. I have read numerous complaints over the internet forums. This is a huge safety concern and should be addressed by BMW.

This 2012 BMW 528, while standing still on a city street, was struck from behind on the left rear corner and the active headrest restraint system was activated striking the driver in the head and causing a traumatic brain injury.
