Approximately two months ago (March 2021) the instrument panel airbag and seat belt warning lights had begun to remain on. The BMW dealer determined it was a faulty front passenger air bag occupancy sensor mat which was then replaced and repaired at the owner's expense. This defect was specifically covered in a service information bulletin sb-10056703-9690, dated September 2014, which superseded si b01 09 14, dated August 2014, which extended BMW's limited warranty to 15 years, without mileage limitation, if the warning light came on within the extended 15 year period. Unfortunately, BMW corporate determined this defect was not within the 15 year period based on the vehicle's in-service date. Said BMW is an original owner vehicle with less than 45,000 miles or driven an average of 3,000 miles per year.

I've been told by two european car repair companies that 2006 Bmws are frequently needing the airbag control modular replaced. There is an internal error on the airbag control unit- code 93d7. This part has not been recalled, and because of the exorbitant price, I was told that many drivers choose to disconnect the airbags. This should not be happening! is BMW reporting this issue? I called the corporate office and they seemed completely uninterested and/or unwilling to document my complaint. My vehicle was stationary at the time the warning was displayed.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 530xi. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer (BMW of brooklyn, 622 2nd Ave, brooklyn, NY 11220) to be repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 17v4728000 (air bags). Can you explain this to me? it looks like I should be coverd given the model year and given that my car clearly had the defect. It appears my vehicle should be covered and thst BMW should reimburde me.
While driving on a straightaway on the expressway with a passenger who was adjusting the seat, we heard a loud bang like a rock hitting the glass, but the noise was in the car and seemed to come from under the passenger seat. Almost immediately, my dashboard light suddenly indicated that my passenger air bag has malfunctioned.
Fault in pass restrain system afecting airbag belt tensioner or belt force limiter.
When my front passenger seat is occupied, during startup the car chimes with an error "pass restraint system" "fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt force limiter" "continue to wear the safety belt" (vehicle was stationary) BMW has issued a recall for this problem but oddly my VIN is not part of the group included.

The passenger aig bag/seat belt restraint error air back will not deploy because it thinks there is no one in the passenger seat.

I have a 2006 BMW 530i (make: 03/05). Two days back, while I was driving home from work (highway), suddenly the message, "passenger restraint malfunction" came up and when I researched about this, I found that there is a recall for the 2006 BMW 530i's for this issue (recall subject : front seat occupant protection mat, NHTSA campaign number: 13v564000) . But, when I emailed BMW regarding the issue, they said my VIN is not included in the recall list. I am not sure why all the cars are not included when they are made in same year and same model. I am attaching the screenshot of the email that BMW customer care has sent me and also of the error message in the car. This has become a safety issue for my car now. So, could you please look into this issue and resolve this for me. Thank you in advance.

Got an error code saying - "fault in passenger restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter. " it seems there have been various recalls surrounding this problem, but when I called BMW of north haven CT they said there were no open recalls for this.
Car screen shows defective passenger restraint and airbags for several weeks. I contacted BMW USA and they said there is no recall on this car. The other BMW 2001 BMW 325i/[xxx] was sent a letter of recall this past summer but BMW has not told us what to do about having the defect corrected. Can you help? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
A message stating a passenger restraint malfunction keeps coming on. Did some research and it said there is a recall for my vehicle. After calling the dealing and giving him my VIN# he told me it was not covered. This seems to be a serious oversight by BMW and needs to be addressed.
My girlfriend got into the passenger side of my BMW and as I took off, a warning code came over my idrive screen stating that my passenger restraint was causing the passenger airbag to malfunction. I noticed at that same time that my airbag and restraint light were on in the dash board.
While I was driving, I received an error message onmy computer display. The error message read: "passenger seat restraint malfunction", then a picture of my passenger seat airbag deployed with a line through it. I called BMW( mckenna, norwalk, CA) on 07/02/2013 and they stated per my VIN number this is not a recall part, yet maybe for some vehicles it was.
My wife started the car up and the airbag and safety restraint lights never turned off. I looked on line and saw there was a recall that listed this years model number but after calling BMW they said my VIN number was not listed in the affected numbers. It looks like BMW is only trying to fix a few cars to say they have done something but this problem is in all their cars made in that year. My car has the sports seats.
Car was operating normally in the highway, when the onboard systems detected a passanger restraint system error. At the time there was an adult in the passenger seat. The code does not want to go away and it's indicating that the airbag system is disabled.
I went to get into my car yesterday and started it up and then I have this passenger restraint system malfunction appears on my idrive computer. I haven't called the dealership as of yet since I have been doing research online about this issue and it has become evident that this is a reoccuring issue in these cars. Through my research online I have found that some dealership will fix it and some won't and I don't understand why. I think that since this is a reoccuring problem it should be fixed by BMW with no questions since air bag malfuntion is a safety issue. I am hoping to get more information about the recall campaign that I've briefly read about associated with this cars.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 530xi. The contact stated that the passenger safety restraint system warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 08v384000 (air bags). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 71,000.
I contacted BMW north America by phone regarding a recall for this issue. They told me that my 2006 BMW 530xi was not included in the recall. Yet, my car exhibits the exact problems outlined in the recall. The front passenger air bags will be deactivated and the air bag warning lamp, as well as the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp will be illuminated. This includes a warning in idrive system stating "passenger restraint" system issue. How is it that other 2006 5 series vehicles were included and my car was not? the local dealer is saying this is more than $1000 to repair, not sure how they would know that without seeing the vehicle.
